Pretty much. As the phones come in, they'll be picked for preorder customers first. If we get any extra (non preordered) iPhones in, we can sell those to walk ins

Can i purchase an iphone 7 outright starting Friday? Full price/same as apple?

Why would you be using your personal phone when assisting customers in the first place?

TBH, we kinda have to (especially if you're a manager or sales lead) I use my phone at work to call my carrier reps if there's any issues, or the Best Buy carrier numbers for assistance with upgrade reversals, account issues, ect. I use my phone to check sku numbers and when I'm downstocking to know what the product I'm looking for...actually looks like.

I also have my phone on me b/c sometimes other stores will contact me for help in relation to Best Buy mobile

We get updates sometimes 10-15 minutes apiece on things like promotions, inventory updates, sudden pricing changes, etc. gotta check it just to make sure you are up the latest developments. ESPECIALLY during a launch weekend. I could be assisting a customer simply trying to help them with a case and as soon I get that little Taptic "tick" from my Apple Watch I already know what it is...

Question for those of you who work at BBY. I assume that all of the phones coming in will go to pre orders first... followed by whatever is left over can go to walk ins?

Yes

Nice,we got cases in today, they suck lol

Got ours on Sunday, couldn't put them out of course. There was a rather nice leather one for 7 Plus I was thinking about getting until Tech 21 comes out with something

TBH, it'll probably be based on the store. Last year my store was allowed to sell the 6S out right. Same for the 6/6 Plus, the previous year. Had a guy come in and buy one. He went to ATT but they refused to sell him one out right.

However with the Note7, we weren't allowed to sell those out right for the first few days. Now that you mention that, I'm gonna actually ask my AM if we can sell the 7 outright this Friday

I went onto my order page today... There was a green update box at the top of the page that seemed as though to indicate my card had just been charged. I'm not sure if that means anything... but today was the first time that had popped up

Pardon my ignorance for not knowing, I've never purchased an iphone from Best buy but once the phone releases can i pay full price at my local store for the 7 if they have in stock? Thanks

Yes

The Best Buy Forums, under their iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus FAQ thread, are now stating that orders will not be processed, for home deliver preorders, until stores receive stock on the 16th. How in the world are they going to get away with this when they promised delivery by 9/16 on their website and on the Order Confirmation email?

I have no idea who to trust at Best Buy to give an answer on this...

Well for us not having the phones out,We had a slight but very serious matter come up last year that involved some police officers and AP saving our tails,So this year he just wants to avoid it. He said just for Friday/Saturday. I told everyone just say its the iPhone 6 and you will be fine lol

When can customers expect to receive a pre-ordered iPhone?

Pre-orders for the iPhone 7/7 Plus will be fulfilled as inventory arrives beginning 9/16/2016.

it sounds like customers will still get them on 9/16 to me

Hi, remember me? :)

I was told today you cannot preorder to buy the iPhone 7 outright, this was both at a mobile store and big store.

I was told there are so few preorders at this time that it is very likely to get the iPhone 7 (not Plus) on release day. Of course color and storage space may be limited.

I don't see them actually saying that anywhere in the thread. The line the rep keeps repeating is:
"we will begin fulfilling pre-orders in the order they were received with available inventory on 9/16/16 and continue to do so as inventory arrives."

This answer is the same thing it says in the FAQ. The line is intended to avoid any liability; It's just saying that phones will be received by customers starting on the 16th.

Here's an exchange from that thread:

Customer: "When you say fulfilling order as inventory becomes available on the 16th does that mean that pre-ordered iPhones won't ship from best buy until the 16th, meaning we can expect our phones after the "Get it by - 9/16/16" date listed in our order confirmation? I was under the assumption that when best buy said "Get it by - 9/16/16" that meant I would recieve my phone on the 16th, not that it would possibly ship out on the 16th. This seems like false advertisement to me if that is the case. "

Rep: "Please know that we do our best to fulfill and ship pre-orders as soon as we can to be received as near the release date as possible."

Basically the forum rep is only allowed to repeat this vague statement, which doesn't specifically mean anything.

Right now... I am just upset because everyone who ordered with their carrier or through apple are all able to see movement. Their 'Deliver By' dates are all reflected accurately for them. Why is it that Best Buy doesn't give their customers the same respect? They know what they are receiving. It just makes me mad that if I had ordered through anyone else, I would have accurate and up to date information. I had the choice on who to order through. I chose best buy. I thought I would would at least be treated the same way I would have if I had ordered through Verizon or Through Apple. Just doesn't seem ethical to me.

If it helps I'm still stuck in processing hell with Apple.

lol. I mean... I would like to see everyone get their phones when they are hoping for. I like to see people happy and excited. So I can only empathize with you at this point.

I bet you have a deliver by date that's accurate though! And that is a step ahead of what any of us have from Best Buy. We basically have a deliver by date that they are saying could change up until friday. So none of us truly know anything. They have chosen to keep us totally in the dark.
It literally could come to this:
Friday 9 am rolls around, and someone that has had "deliver by: 9/16" could just, at that time, change to "deliver by: 10/05"
And that's not fair at all. That's actually kind of rude lol.

Well... I was in the middle of typing my last comment, but you posted before I was able to finish. But I gave this example EXACTLY in my previous post.
THIS is the issue. right here.

I feel really badly that you just got that. I'm going to go check mine and see what it says now.... oy

As I stated above, that is worded very poorly and I do not interpret it the same way.

Also, as I was trying to post, I got someone from Best Buy Customer Service on the phone. They originally stated that the phone would not ship until the 16th because Apple doesn't allow any third party to pre-ship an iPhone prior to release date. I pressed on this and asked for a manager. She put me on hold and came back with a further clarification:

Anyone who has a "Get it by 9/16/16" on their Order Confirmation and when they placed the order will receive the Phone and/or Watch on the 16th. The order status will not change until close to midnight on Thursday or 12 AM to 2 AM on Friday. Best Buy will then Same Day Air, from a local facility, to your house via UPS. They do not use FedEx.

Do I trust this information? Probably not but I will keep my fingers crossed and hope as I don't think I will be able to stand in line at the Apple Store on the 16th.

The fact that new preorders today are showing later delivery dates actually seems like a good thing, suggests they may actually have some handle on their home delivery stock. Looks like it's currently offering 16th delivery only if you pay extra for overnight shipping, which would be consistent with the preorder phones shipping tomorrow.

I think it's especially confusing because they're lumping the info about home delivery in with the stuff about store pickup. That statement about "as inventory arrives" makes complete sense for in-store pickup, but for home delivery it definitely sounds like they can only ship on 9/16.

That's an interesting bit of detail you got from them because it lines up with how the Note 7 preorders were handled. No one saw any movement on their orders until midnight, but then everyone got ship notices and the majority of the phones arrived the next day. I guess this allows them to get around the restriction the first rep described? They're technically shipping same day, but the phones are probably packed and shipping is set up days ahead of time.

Thanks for pushing to get more info. I don't really trust it either, but I feel like that's the most we're likely to be able to learn until the phones do or do not ship.

Depends on what you ordered. I can see movement on my wife's Rose Gold 7 ordered on apple.com via UPS MyChoice, but when she checks the order Apple still stays that it hasn't shipped. Also, it's coming from China, whereas I imagine Best Buy pre-orders will be coming from a US shipment center (already here), not direct from the factory in China, so they wouldn't need to ship as early. And as for my 7 Plus black ordered via apple.com, no movement, though I expected that with a quote of Oct 4-10, which is why I also ordered one from Best Buy.

Hope so. So... basically, we won't know about the status of our orders until it's already too late to get in line at our local Apple Store? I heard people start lining up Thursday mornings and if you wait until late Thursday night you may already be 30-50 people back in line.

That is typically pretty accurate. It does also depend on the population of your area. Places like NYC and LA are going to have bigger lines than places like OH and PA, for example.
