I've heard some smaller stores have weird stances on this.

With the last two iPhone launches (SE and 6s) we weren't price matching period for the first couple weeks, then we only price matched if an Apple Store within 25 miles had the item in stock. This was set in stone by district.

The fact of the matter is one person may not buy it because we refuse the price match, but with a product so high in demand and our store being so high traffic, someone will surely come behind them and pay the full asking price for the device.

Yea but in the mean time they are throwing a fit in front of everyone else and making our life's hell.

What the hell!? Why would Best Buy charge more then apples???
Because when we price match a phone to Apple's price, there's no profit to be made on selling a phone outright.

If you were running a business, you would do the same thing too.

If i pre-ordered for store pickup, would it make any difference for me to go to the store when it opens? Or should I just wait for an email regarding picking up my order?

You will get a phone call from someone at mobile.

Trust me it's going to be a messed up launch. Heck last year and even with the Note 7, we would have phones in stock but they were for preorders, our inventory system doesn't show these phones for preorders,so when people call in the people that answer the phone sees we have phones in stock but in reality they are already sold, this is why were not supposed to give out any stock. Your best bet is to stop by the store. We had people lined up every morning before we opened till Christmas to see if we had phones.

First of all it is probably not going to be in stock on release day at Apple and BB knows that and also I want an unlocked one anyway.

It is not $50, it is $100 over Apple's listed price just checking a few of the 32gb models so they know Joe Blow behind me or the next one will buy it and they aren't going to lose $100.

And I have a rapport with store managers in my area besides.

Apple seems to be moving their orders specifically for the ones that were made from their website. I haven't seen any movement on my transaction through Best Buy other than my credit card being charged. Has anyone had any movement on their order? When would you suspect we might see some movement?

For frame of reference, I ordered a 7+ 128GB (Matte) Black fairly early in the ordering process.

I would guess we will not see any movement until Wednesday or Thursday. People are seeing movement through the Apple website because Apple tracks their orders as they are being shipped from China. I am 99% sure Best Buy is only going to track the order once it going through UPS in the United States.

I also ordered the 7+ 128GB (matte) Black. They were the AT&T models since I had to use my plan and went through Next. I placed my orders (2 of the same phone) at 5:06AM EST and 5:22 on 9/9.

Nothing has changed on Best Buy's end. Both still show In Progress and I'm having them shipped to my house. There aren't any pending transactions that show on my card but the tax payment is deducted from my available credit.

Both of the confirmation emails say 'get it by 9/16' but cover themselves later with the disclaimer that the preorders are delivered on or after the release date... I want to have some faith in their delivery date that displayed online because they've sold out of almost all plus models and right after I ordered my last one, it was no longer available for purchase.

AT&T shows that I have pending Next installment plans for the phones. Normally, I would have ordered through Apple but the 9/16 delivery on Best Buy tempted me because I'm impatient.

This may not hold true for the iPhone 7/7 Plus, but last year I walked into my local Apple Store at lunch time on launch day and bought a silver 6s Plus 128GB AT&T. No reservation, no pre-order, I just walked up a bought one. Technically speaking, they had me reserve one while I was inside the store, then get in line (6th person in line).

I think if you're looking for anything besides Jet Black, you might be able to do the same this year for the 7/7 Plus

I worked the 6s launch last year and we had a LOT of phones. We didn't sell out the entire weekend, which was unexpected.

I think this year will be the same case for the 7 model, but not the 7 Plus. The 7 Plus is in HIGH demand.

We charge $50 or $100 over because Best Buy pays full retail price on the apple product so we aren't making anything if you don't get it on a plan.

I disagree
What I said and he reiterated isn't a matter of opinion... it's a fact.

When price-matched to Apple, the store makes no profit on it because it's essentially "at-cost". It's just revenue.

I really wouldn't be surprised if some stores aren't even selling them hardware only. I've heard of that happening around these times.

This is my Best Buy ordering status exactly, also. Keep us posted of anything new! I also have those 2 on order from Apple as PIF as I am worried about cancelling either order (and hoping they don't cancel each other!) so far, in just waiting to see which moves first. The Apple dates are between the 23rd and October 4th. Best buys email says get it by 09/16....

LOL every year this exact thread pops up and people ask the same questions verbatim. Yet the answer stays the same, basically no, you're not going to get your jet black 7 plus on launch day, especially not if those who pre ordered from Apple won't be getting them. Every other color though I'm sure you'll be fine.

Best buy is like the last place to fill their pre-orders and Ive gone through this process like 8-9 times now! It sucks, and i remember I learned the lesson the hard way when the gold 5s came out.

I bought the 7 Plus online, and the price was exactly the same as Apple's, minus the subsidy discount for 2 year contract with Verizon ($969 for 256 GB iP 7+, with $450 subsidy, it came to $519 before tax).

So I don't see where BB is charging $50-$100 more for these iPhones...what am I missing here
[doublepost=1473649727][/doublepost]Did anyone have any problems/glitches ordering from Best Buy's website that morning? I had no issues (except finding the model I wanted -- it was the last one in the list. Not very well organized). Just trying to gauge if their servers were hit heavily or not...

I walked into bestbuy trying to preorder two phones out of contract they wouldn't let me :(
For this specific pre-order, our in-store system isn't letting us do hardware only pre-orders :( Sorry about that.

BBY charges $50-$100 more on the outright hardware only cost of iPhones. When a phone is being activated on a 2 year agreement, or an installment billing, the price is the same set by Apple / the carrier or whatever promotional ongoing deals we have.

Ah thanks for clarifying.

So... I went to look up my order and now I am getting this...

We're Sorry
Order information is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

What does this mean? Does this mean my order is getting cancelled or that their system is down! Does it mean that there is movement on my order? Please help.
