I could've sworn that the 14 day return period starts after you actually get the phone and it's put on the account and it's rung up in POS. Not when you first put in the preorder. Even on installment billing. Weird. Like literally I've never heard of this. And if the preorder is canceled, the upgrade gets reversed automatically although I've had to call NSS on more than a few occasions for Sprint
Nope. Like I said I just went threw this two weeks ago. Even best buys att rep was in the store and confirmed. With next with att when you preordered the next plan is pending and 14 day return period starts. You can prob return it through att corporate store like I did but 100% not through Best Buy. Believe me. Or find out the hard way
[doublepost=1473738920][/doublepost]
But that doesn't make an sense, I mean, it could be on pre order, unable to be canceled, for twice that. Is that written somewhere in fine print? Everywhere I've read it said 14 days past receipt of delivery/pick up.
Through att but not Best Buy. You WILL NOT be able to return it to Best Buy due to the system contacting att and att refusing the return
[doublepost=1473738990][/doublepost]
Thankfully mine still says keep existing plan and my order is pending. I have a Verizon unlimited data plan so I'm giving this phone to my brother and getting his upgrade phone to keep my UDP
Activation 40$ ?????
That's rape. I'm pissed about att charging me 15$
[doublepost=1473739640][/doublepost]
I got my 4 and 4S from BB but the 4S debacle was the year they said they weren't preorders and if we didn't pick our phones up by 10AM they would sell them to walk in customers, that was it for them.
Never again. Just ordered Apple and ATT.
What do you mean they weren't pre orders

No,that's how it is. But sometimes the "contract" doesn't reverse right away and takes a day or two to go through the carriers systems.

Yeah I've had that issue with sprint on several occasions (both 2yr and installment billing) ATT and VZW are usually good with the automatic upgrade reversals, atleast from my experience

Maybe it depends on the store idk. B/c I've never had this issue at my store. Been a bbym sales person for 3yrs now (pretty much the sales lead for my dept now) and I've never had this issue. From my experience, the upgrade and 14 day doesn't go into effect until after the phone is officially put on the account. A lot of people would be extremely upset if that wasn't the case. And tbh, that would be completely unfair to the customer. Basically that would mean that the 14 day grace period would be nonexistent if the phone happens to be back ordered.

Not saying you're lying or anything like that lol, but I've just never heard of this from Best Buy, Apple, or corporate stores. I've been through several phone launches. But again, I wasn't at the your store and didn't see what all went down with your situation. So idk

Thank you! You know, because I was thinking, when I called them, they did have the pro-rated amount from the 9th prorated for the next bill, HOWEVER she said the contract was pending. They can't start counting down days off the contract grace period before it's even gone into effect, not to mention holding people responsible financially responsible for a device that hasn't even been released yet. That would mean pre-orders would have to final sale, no ifs and or buts. Anyone else have experience with that?

Slightly off to the other subject, any idea why the ability to cancel the order disappeared if it isn't shipping soon? The ATT rep couldn't tell me anything because she's not Best Buy. I asked in the BB forum but they merged my thread and no ones seen it.

Quick addition, I went and read the summary paper they've been sending out- here's the fine print on it:

Equipment Return Policy
Items with proof of purchase that are like new condition and include all accessories, manuals and original packaging can
be returned within 14 days of purchase or shipping unless they're closeout items. You'll be charged a restocking fee of
$45, except where prohibited. See www.att.com/returnpolicy for details. Authorized Retailers and other locations may
have different policies.

Cancellation Policy
You may terminate this Agreement within 14 days of activation without paying an ETF. Any activation fees will be
refunded if you cancel within 3 days of activation. You'll be responsible for all fees and charges incurred through the date
you cancel. Additionally, you must return any Equip. and accessories purchased with this Agreement. If you terminate
after 14 days, you'll be charged an ETF for each phone number or Equip. ID number associated with this Agreement. See
www.att.com/equipmentETF.

The return policy seems to apply to equipment bought through them, not other retailers? But their termination clause expressly says 14 days of activation, which in the very least would have to accompany some kind of confirmation that I am in possession of the unit, right?

As an aside, she did also say that I can't pay off NEXT until I've made 2 monthly payments, but I have found contradicting copy elsewhere that says that only applies to upgrades. Either way, the plan was to just pay them off, I didn't want to do NEXT in the first place, but that was all BB had. Anyone pay of NEXT early before?

I got 196 bucks waived into statement credit ... 45 bucks for activations (att business)

As long as you pay 49.99 for your data plan you can upgrade an keep your udp
The only people who did that ordered through Verizon's iconic portal and were able to actually select a UDP plan. I would not do it through BB.
[doublepost=1473749743][/doublepost]

Yes, stick to the methods. Aohus through BB works.

The policy is 14 days after you receive the phone. They keep up with the shipping and delivery date and its 14 days from the delivery that you can return it.

Best Buy was always okay for me, never really had much difficulty. But it's mainly a reservation more than anything. No one in the store can tell you how many they're expecting.

I remember with the iPhone 4, they were taking pre orders for the white model despite Apple not even allowing pre orders through their website due to the whole manufacturing dilemma that caused a delay on white iPhones at first. So they don't get much communication from Apple. Like...at all. They blindly take pre orders.

This may be relevant to some people. I spoke to the guys at Best Buy today, and they are offering the "free iPhone 7 32GB" deal for Verizon and ATT phones if you trade in a 6 or 6s.
I was unsure at first because ATT told me that BB would could not honor this deal and at first the guys at BB also agreed that they could not. But when they confirmed with their manager he showed me an internal memo from yesterday that confirmed ATT will indeed honor the offer.

We received that memo earlier today. It literally JUST became available for us

This is how it works to add clarification..

If a customer were to come into the STORE and get their unit. The 14 day return policy begins on THAT day the phone is activated. So their 14 days begins that very day, not the day afterwards

For customers who are preordering, the 14 days begins the day you receive the phone. So the moment the phone shows up at your doorstep or you go pick it up, that day begins your 14 days.

Currently the only device that bypasses this policy is the Note 7, for obvious reasons that it is part of a massive recall (huge headache for everyone involved) we are taking that phone back whether it's 14 days past the return policy or not. Whether it works or not, whether you have the box and included accessories or not.

Ziggo, thank you for the clarification! Would you have any insight as to whether this aligns with AT&T's 14 cancelation grace period, as in- both sets of 14 days start at the receipt of the unit?

Also, many of us have lost the option to cancel the pre-order under our orders tab. Is this just standard practice with NEXT purchases, or something to do with the pre-order process?

Thank you!

This is also untrue. Even after I got in a big fight with Best Buy about not being able to return it, and I went to an att corporate store they showed me the fine print, it says 14 days from the day shipped
[doublepost=1473762962][/doublepost]Mods can you PLEASE make this sticky!! If Canadians can get there own sticky thread jeez

Pardon, but 14 days from shipped and 14 days from pre order are quite different, I would think. From shipped seems a bit unfair, but it would still allow a period to receive the phone and subsequently return it within the allotted time frame. I think the slowest shipping across the US is still not more than 7 days after the carrier receives it. You'd said you were dealing with the note 7, though? I wonder if that could have been any cause of the grief they gave you. -And sorry to hear about the troubles! I had no idea the chaos surrounding that unit unless recently.

I'm still at 29.99 for now. not going to chance it

My contract date is November before it the data portion goes up to $49.99 from $29.99 that I pay per month. My purpose in all of this was to extend my contract. I did purchase a phone through Best Buy on VZW because I was eligible for an upgrade.

When it comes to my house, not in store pick up, I am removing the SIM before turning it on. I will then put my T-Mobile SIM in there and keep using my $29.99 data plan with loyalty voice plan in my iPad.

I'm giving it a try. I hope it works. I guess I'm willing to chance it at this point. I'll report back my findings. So far, on VZW, there has been NO plan price change and no contract date change. We will see.

What do you mean they weren't pre orders

Basically they called them pre-orders but then they called a couple of days before launch and said they were actually pre-orders they were reservations. And I would have a 32GB black 4S reserved until 11AM on launch day (assuming they got enough to get to my place in line, number 9). If I didn't pick it up by then they would take the reservation off and make it available to walkins.

After much arguing a blowback from people that bought from BB they changed there policy and said they would hold the phones for the weekend.
From what I remember most stores were going to make reservations available on Saturday morning but my store was doing It at 11. And I said never again will I order from BestBuy.

Anyone get any updates from Best Buy yet on when the order statuses will be updated?

Nothing yet :( but when I had my game preorder coming a couple weeks ago, I didn't get notice from ups or Best Buy until like 6pm the night before. I know not the same department, but assuming it could go to then before hearing anything.

If you are talking about Best Buy Vs. ATT store I'm not 100% sure, but for all devices across all carriers sold through US it is the same policy.

As far as cancelling preorders goes, of the option has been removed it's probably because your order is already "locked in" and prepared to ship.

More than likely between tomorrow and Thursday. iPhones are not like regular shipments. We usually get them special delivered and have to scan them into the system, once this happens, tickets will be printed with customers named who have preordered units (on a first come first serve basis) once those tickets have been "picked" that's when customers receive their first email. Most smart Store managers have their Mobile Leads/SSM's call customers once their order is picked and assigned to set up appointments. There have been occasions when your phone will be picked and assigned and we will call you even before you get an email, but hats rare.

I don't suppose there is a similar deal for the plus models, is there?

To be completely honest with you...I wouldn't expect much if any Plusses to be available at Best Buy for the first two weeks. Can't say more than that...but....just don't expect it

Does anyone have an iPhone 7 preorder with Best Buy that is still able to be canceled? I'm curious if that was just a time before launch day update for all orders or if it really does mean actual units were allocated to us.

As well please don't call the store asking if we have them in stock,there has been a number of times where people call and our inventory shows the phones in stock so the reps tell the customer we have them in stock,however the phones are for preorders or currently being sold. I just don't want people to get their hopes up and rush down only to be disappointed. Sometimes I just want to smack MCSA for doing that.
