Call in and ask if they’ll refund the $100. At least two posts said they were successful without hesitation.I was able to buy a Verizon iPhone X outright from Best Buy so my dad can travel to China and use TDS-CDMA (3G). I didn't have to jump through hoops of proving I was a Verizon customer (I'm not) or any of that non-sense, so although I wasn't too happy having to pay an extra $100, I was willing to do so. Honestly paying Best Buy the $100 is way better value for me than deal with being ripped off on Ebay/Craigslist or waiting in line this Friday. It meant I will get the phone in the mail on Friday and my dad is happy.
They’re still honoring orders. And some in this bread have said that they also were refunded the $100 when they asked.
Schlock outfits employ schlock tactics. How about just charging the actual retail price of the phone?? Sounds like they cut off their nose to spite their face.
Regardless I never recommend buying a phone at Best Buy.
I pre-ordered the LG G4 a few years back and paid full price because there was a promo for a $100 gift card with purchase.
I went to pick it up on release day and the employees were confused and said they didn’t have it. I called corporate and they said they have no idea on when they will have it but I’ll get an email when it’s available. (Every local AT&T/Verizon store had available stock)
Three weeks later I get an email from them to come pick up the phone. When I got there they claimed the $100 gift card was only when activating a new line. I showed them their promo and said it literally says “with purchase of an LG G4” and no where does it say with a new line. They basically said sorry nothing we can do. Had to call corporate and after some going back and forth they mailed me the GC about a month later.
Nonsense.
Let us know how it goesYeah I'm going to call them right now and see if I can get the iPhone price-matched. Doesn't hurt to try.
Best Buy is not the only retailer to do this, by the way. 3rd party retailers don't make a penny off of devices paid in full.

Well that’s a shame. I wonder if that is something that changed since they stopped selling it outright altogetherNope, got a straight,"Sorry we do not price match the iPhone Ex..." They said all the representatives got a notice from corporate to not price match the iPhone preorders.
That is exactly what it is. Best Buy doesn’t make money selling full price iPhones.Could it be that Best Buy has to pay different fees to Apple in order to sell Apple products? For instance, the carriers "get something" out of selling the phone, specifically a customer who pays for a monthly phone plan. Whereas Best Buy is just a store selling a device.
I find such a statement ironic given it's being posted on a web site devoted to a company which became the largest, by market capitalization, in the world by gouging its customers. My guess is Apple decided to withhold delivery to a vendor that is gouging customers.

Exactly. We don’t say convenience stores gouge people compared to big grocery chains. You need to get a handle on what is considered gouging. Setting your prices at a premium isn't gouging. By your definition every luxury car, fashion, etc. company is gouging their customers.
It's not my definition but rather Mr. Walters. I don't have any issues with Apple charging what they do for their products. I'm a free market kind of guy. If you don't like the price you don't have to buy it.You need to get a handle on what is considered gouging. Setting your prices at a premium isn't gouging. As they've cut costs...
And tell that to the shareholders.
I’m not sure what the problem is. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it. No one is forcing you. There’s 3 Toyota dealerships near me and they all offered me a different price for the same RAV4. Down with those more expensive dealers!
Supply and demand. I’d go after the eBay scalpers before worrying about Best Buy.
Doubtful given the highlighted "word"."..., selling it that way cost more money, causing some confusion with our customers and noise in the media,"
it doesn't cause any confusion until you made up some BS explanation of why you are selling more.
they could've just said "We are a piece of **** and just trying to get some extra profit for a rare product."... and I'd be okay with that excuse
Stock price isn't the real indicator here. The fact is that their revenue has been flat since 2012.
I also got the refund. Whats the big deal
Yes, they've cut costs by closing a lot of stores. Their profits haven't changed much either over that time, they're essentially treading water. For one, stock prices rise and fall with the market, so it's just not that simple. Stock prices aren't a real indicator of how well a business is doing, they're an interpretation of others' projections for a business.
