I went to Best Buy, the same one where I was denied.
Today's manager was fine. I called in about it and they actually printed me the internal memo about the price matching policy.

So the $100 Best Buy gift card is absolutely legit. Now, whether you get the $1234.99 price or the $1250 price or the $1299 price I'm less sure about. The memo does not state anything about that.

The $1234.99 price is what I got, but that's b/c I got a manager who was not a robot. The system would not let the cashier ring up the $100 gift card with the macbook air. So what they did was to subtract $100 off the air and then charge me $100 for the gift card. Whatever, this is clearly a your mileage may vary. It shouldn't be, but it is.

Just curious, what was your total, if you don't mind my asking. Was it in the 1341 range? I might have misplaced my receipt, and I'm just curious if we got the same deal/sale.

for those that have purchased a macbook air at best buy
were you able to get $50 off the already discounted best buy price and a $100 gift card?

for example, the base 13 is $1235 on bestbuy.com
so could you get it for 1185 plus $100 giftcard in store?

I'm hoping for $1185 plus giftcard, plus $60 off printer, plus quadruple rewards points buying at secret sale tomorrow, plus 18-36 months financing

I was told by the sales manager that the MBA will go to original price of 1599 tomorrow morning.

Best you can hope for is $1235 - $100 gift card.

That's already a very generous deal in my opinion.

Plus if you're a reward zone member (in this case it is worth it) you can get at least $25 in gift cards.

So it's not a bad deal. I would think that at this price, you'd be buying at the price it would be 6 months from now prior to a refresh. Except you're getting it on day 3 of release.

Actually, the 256gb may be an even better deal b/c that's $100 off list at $1499 right now.
Sale does end today so if you want it, you're not going to get your quadruple points tomorrow and the sale price.

Why would they give you an additional $50 off? Their price is already better than Apple's student discount.

Also, it sounds like the sale is ending today. So you have to choose between the extra $15 off (assuming they still give you the Apple student price of $1249) and the extra $50 in Reward Zone cards from the sale tomorrow night.

got the 11" i5 4/128 today in Boulder for 1139.00$ + 100$ gift card + tax.

So anyone in the denver area, you're good to go.

fyi: The discounted rates (which are better than the student discount in most if not all cases) are still available today! Meaning they can be used at the reward zone sale tonight.

What's the benefit to the reward zone event tonight?

I'm wondering what if by the time I get served by one of the BestBuy employees & the limited stock of MBAs that my local BB store (which participates in this Reward Zone event) has are all sold out, am I SOL? :( Or will BB be gracious enough to still take my order (but I have to wait for their next shipment) & honor the deal?

So how does one use that garbage of a site to tell if my store participates? when I click the link to find out I just get a blank page.

Same here, can't find out a list of the stores right now at this moment. :( IMHO, it looks to me like BB has no intention of really wanting a lot of people to participate in their one-night only sale. :(

1) Maybe try to call now and see if they'll hold one.
2) Since there is nothing about 'limited to stock on hand' I believe they have to allow you to order one with this price.
3) I'm actually planning on paying tonight but picking it up in a different store next week when I am in a different (lower-tax) state, so I too hope they allow this.

As for the website, it was completely different yesterday...had a long list of the promos they were running...for example if you pay with a BB credit card you get 4x points, if you buy something $1000+ you get 3x points, etc. And the link to check the store actually worked so I verified that the store .5 miles from my house is participating.

and where does it say that you get triple points at this event? They historically never allow additional points, coupons, etc. on any apple products.

Maybe it's the browser? Can someone please confirm?

I saw the exact page that GeekLawyer saw yesterday. It is definitely 3x points and it didn't say anything about excluding Apple products. It's not just your browser though--the page doesn't load today for me either.

EDIT: Here is an example from some local mall that is doing the promo. Not a very legit-looking website, but this is the same offer that was on the Best Buy site yesterday.

Where does the $100 BB gift card come into play? I don't see any info on it on their website.

It is an unadvertised promo to match Apple's back to school offer. You have to ask for it and even then it sounds like it's hit-or-miss as to whether or not they give it to you. I called my store and they do offer it but yours might not.

To the other guys who want the store list, just call your local store and ask.
