I saw the exact page that GeekLawyer saw yesterday. It is definitely 3x points and it didn't say anything about excluding Apple products. It's not just your browser though--the page doesn't load today for me either.

EDIT: Here is an example from some local mall that is doing the promo. Not a very legit-looking website, but this is the same offer that was on the Best Buy site yesterday.

Yes, this is exactly the list of details that was on BB's website yesterday. I paid special attention to this one:

• Triple points when you spend $1000 or more

since it's the one that I was looking most forward to. But sadly, none of the BB locations in my part of Florida are taking part. So, it does me no good.

I'm wondering what if by the time I get served by one of the BestBuy employees & the limited stock of MBAs that my local BB store (which participates in this Reward Zone event) has are all sold out, am I SOL? :( Or will BB be gracious enough to still take my order (but I have to wait for their next shipment) & honor the deal?

Call and see if they have it in stock. If so, have them hold it for you until tonight.

I called a couple BestBuy's by me, and only one store had any, and they only had 2. They are supposed to be holding it for me until tonight.

Yeah, the page with the listing of the stores that have the private shopping event went away yesterday it seems. I have no idea why. If you google you can catch random stores still cached. I found the listing for a store in Asheville NC, but nothing else.

My friend got his at bestbuy, they were unable to get the $100 gift card coupon to work. He has to go back in a week hoping the system will have it in by then if not, no giftcard for him.

My best buy said they don't do extra points on apple products.

Usually, this is the case. The coupons will have a long list of items that are not included, and Apple is usually listed.

I am assuming that will not be the case for the private sale tonight. This seems to be a different type of promotion. The BestBuy ad originally said triple points on purchases over $1000.00. I do not see any thing mentioned about any exclusions. It does state double points on nearly all purchases.

Just got back from Best Buy. I was (after a bit of back-and-forth) able to get the $1234 price plus the $100 Gift Card plus the extra Reward Zone points (=$75 GC). Now have a new MacBook Air!

They said they match the App Store gift card offer on a "case-by-case basis" which I guess means they give it to you if they like you. Horrible customer service, as expected, took like 45 minutes for me to find someone willing to take my money but got it in the end.

How long is this BB sale going to last. The one near are out of stock on all the new ones :(

Thanks for the heads up on this!
I went down to the rewards zone event tonight and got the base 13".
Plus I had reward zone certificates plus an old gift card.
So it started at $1299.99
On sale for $ 1234.99
$15 in Reward Zone points brought it down to $1219.99
$5.00 gift card brought it down $1217.99.

I bought it with my best buy card so I got 4X in reward zone points!

They were raffling off $50 cards that I was hoping to win to bring the cost down more but I didnt win :(

Still though, still got it for a great final price.

Only issue I had was that they were trying to push their Black Tie service over AppleCare, saying that Applecare is pretty much worthless *rollseyes*

Just got the 11" air 128 gb too!!

Best Buy n Levittown was great!!! They took the $100 gift card right out of the purchase price.

So all i paid was $1040 (tax exempt). Plus i got 4x points so about $80 in gift certificates. :D

Thanks to whoever posted the 3x private sale tonight. I ended up getting an 11 inch + $100 Giftcard + $75 in rewards points from sale.

Although it took 45 minutes to sort it all out since the $100 giftcard wouldn't go on my account. They discounted the macbook air to $1149-$100 then charged me $100 for a giftcard.

best buy I went to didn't have any base 13 inch models left, but they said I could buy one and pick up at a different store tomorrow (that store did not have a secret sale sunday night and was already closed)

so it took 1.5 hours, but I got it for 1235 plus tax (105), $100 gift card, and 36 months 0% financing
forgot to use my $5 rewards certificate

hoping I still get quadruple rewards points, but if not, I'd rather have the 36 months 0% financing

I can pick it up from the other store in the morning

Congrats to all of you who managed to get in on the deal. :D Unfortunately, I wasn't that lucky. :(

I went to the nearest BestBuy store (about 30 minutes away) that was running the event & waited in the store for around 35 minutes before finding someone available to serve me. However, by then the salesperson told me that they've just sold the last of the 11" 4GB 128GB SSD model (MC969LL/A). I asked if I could order it & was told that I can, but I will not be able to get the triple Reward Zone points. Left the store empty handed. :(

I then immediately went to the next nearest BB store to try my luck. When I was being served after a 20 minute wait, I was so happy to hear that they've got the last of the model that I want still in stock. Sad to say though, I ended up not buying it because for some reason, that store was not willing to offer the $100 BB gift card. Needless to say, I left this store empty handed too. :(

After 2 successive failures to secure an 11" MBA that I want, I just gave up & drove home. :(

Oh well, I guess I'm just unlucky yesterday (Sun, July 24). Looking on the bright side, maybe me not being able to get in on the deal is not a bad thing at all. :) At least right now while I wait for my local BB store to bring in some new stock of the MBA model I want, I can also take the opportunity to rethink things through carefully on the possibility of ordering an 11" MBA Ultimate from Apple instead. :)

Interesting. The 1st BB store that I went to did not even offer me this option. I wished I had known about such possibilities. :(

I know it is too late now, but just for future reference--the store I went to had some trouble finding their Airs, and while they were looking for them, the employee who was helping me said that you get reward points on gift cards too. So if they didn't have any, I could buy a $1200 gift card (or whatever the exact amount is), get the triple points, and then come back later in the week when they get more computers.

They found the computers in the end and everything worked out, but it was reassuring to know that the option was available.

So for the people that got in on this, does your receipt say anything about the bonus points? When I have used a triple points coupon in the past, the receipt would always say triple points as a line item. Since this was not actually a coupon, I assume it will just show up as bonus points in my account.

Thanks for the info & I appreciate that. :)

I've previously not known that Reward Zone points apply on gift card purchases. I had always thought that the Reward Zone points will only apply the moment one actually use the credit on the gift card on a purchase.

That used to be the way it was. They changed it in the last year, or two.

Slightly off topic: How long does it take for the points to be posted on your Reward Zone account? I opened an RZ account solely for this big purchase, but I'm not seeing any points on there yet...

The Reward Zone website says 35 days, I guess just to make sure you don't use the points and then return the item. Also, you have to manually print off the points when you want to use them, after which you have a very limited time frame to use them. In any case, you have to activate them before the end of the calendar year (or else they are automatically activated).

Is the 100$ gift card promotion only for in store purchase?

All of the bestbuys around my place ran out of the new macbook air, I was told to place my order online instead ...
