My kickstand case has a bump around the camera opening so it lays flat with the kickstand folded at the other end of the case.
I could not care less about the bump.

I feel like that photo needs an adult content warning. The bulge is getting too big. At least this means we can justify thicker phone cases now.

Once you put it in a case (which I always do) the camera bump sits flush with the case, so it's not an issue for me

Why not make the rest of iPhone body the same thickness as the camera bumps, as it was done before iPhone 6? It would look sleeker and have more space for heat dissipation and a bigger battery, so everyone wins?
I agree with this sediment. I want the best camera possible, so I don't have an issue with a larger lens. But I personally would prefer making the whole phone match the lens bump and use that extra space for a larger battery!

Wobbling on a table. Ideal? No.

But are user actually sitting their phones on a table, caseless, and trying to type 80wpm when they text?

I guess I don’t understand. Besides an occasional tap to glance at a notification (which I have a case and it doesn’t move), I pick mine up to use it.

Hard pass. My 12 Pro and 12 Mini are still like brand new and since I won’t be making any movies I certainly don’t need the increased camera capablities or added bulk.

the amount of people disappointed that they can’t leave their iPhone flat on a table is unsettling lol. how is that *that* important to you?

anyway… very excited for the picture quality.
It's not *that* important to me, it's just that taking photos isn't especially important to me and I prefer the look of the phones without a bump. Just like I'd prefer no notch but I accept the need for it.

No. Just no. Give me the largest bump. The iPhone 4’s camera is absolutely trash by today’s standards.
yeah but by 2010's standards it was great, and I was fine with that. I understand that if you're a social media type then it's important to take nice photos to share, but I'm not especially interested, the camera is way down the list of things I use my phone for, and on balance I'd prefer a sleeker device to one that can take a better photo. don't think that's that weird.

Kodak disposables were great in 1990 also. You don’t need to be a social media type. I don’t have any social media… just want the best photos / videos I can possibly get of my kids as they grow up without lugging my mirrorless camera everywhere. Different needs for different people, but I suspect the camera is probably the most used feature on a mobile phone outside of web browsing and texting. It’s important for it to keep progressing.

RIP to everyone that places their phone face-down on the table because of the giant camera bump, but get called out for being suspicious.

I don’t understand the rationale with the camera bumps. Would anyone even be mad if they just made the phone thick enough to be flush with the cameras and slapped a bigger battery in there?

I'm starting to feel the desire for Apple to do something innovative (design wise) with the notch.
I have seen some cooler design from the competition in the last 2 years.

I think everyone would love that; there would also be a battery benefit with the added space.

Just make the phone a little thicker, and while they’re at it, add the better cameras to the smaller screen phones for those of us who don’t want to carry our phones in a purse or fanny pack.

Can we be real for a second this is getting CRAZY. They have to stop getting so big its been interfering with my wireless charging mats and everything!!

And we originally thought we was getting this 😭 praying we do for iPhone 15!
An unrealistic render that will never happen? This is thinner than the the 13 Pro which means the camera would be crappier and the battery life would suck. It’s amusing how people always complain about form over function but then share unrealistic renders that are 100% about looks.

As long as the "pixel binning" on-device works really well, then I'm ok with a 48mp camera. Otherwise, each raw photo will be around 50MB in size in order to be fully available in photo software.
