This video makes it look plastic or similar to the C versions of phones.....

I like how the lady starts laughing how easy it is getting marked up!!

Good video.. thanks for sharing.. although Jet Black doesn't look plastic to my eyes. Sure, it does collect fingerprints but so do front side glass too.. and I keep seeing fingerprints in the matte version too. I think im going to get Jet Black and Sena leather sleeve. (http://www.apple.com/shop/product/H...d-iphone-6s?fnode=99&fs=f=sena&fh=458b%2B3412)

Raise to wake feature troubles me though when using sleeve.

Going with Jet Black, just use a small microfiber cloth to wipe it once in a while. I'm also pretty careful with my phones so not too concerned about scratches.

I think at the end of the day, depending on how OCD you are about your IDevices, fingerprints if using without a case are inevitable. What I worry about are swirl marks from constantly wiping it down (like a black car) and cases that are tight fitting to get on marking it up and constantly rubbing on the inside making wear marks. To each their own though.

Team matte black here; ordered a £3.99 crystal clear gel bumper case & 2 glass screen protectors (Anker & Spigen) from Amazon. I have no desire to go down the fancy case / cover route this time , 7+ price put paid to that:mad:

I just wish one of these reviews would come out and say if it more or less slippery than than the matte black. I've seen "surprisingly grippy" on theverge. But what does that mean? More grippy than he thought it would be but less than the matte? Or actually grippy? Ive seen some hands on reviews say its "going to be the most slippery iphone ever" But no real comparisons. I was fine with the grippyness of the 3g/gs; the iphone 6 is too slippery and I need a skin on it to use it.

Whats funny about her video is she puts fingerprints on it (started basically without many) and about dies laughing but then picks up the matte one and it starts out with more fingerprints than the jet black one did but does not say a word or see how it deals with fingerprints.

If I could get confirmation on how slippery the jet black is vs. the matte black, I could go ahead and make my decision. I can deal with the scratches and smudges if I can be guaranteed to have a grippier phone without a case. But if it's a negligible difference, I'll just go with matte black.

I have Space Grey in an Apple Leather Case or clear Spigen AirSkin now but I want try to go naked iPhone this year because I'll finally have a black phone again. I think the shiny Jet Black will show fingerprints and micro scratches, but the matte Black might show greasy finger smudges. Both would look bad on a black phone.
I'll probably pre-order each Black and return one after the display models are in Apple Stores.

really dislike people like you that buy highly anticipated items and then return them simply because you weren't sure what color you wanted. This prevents at least 1 person from getting a new iPhone just because you wanted a different shade of black. At least wait till like day 27-29 to return it so that people have a chance to get their first one.

I had an aunt that was crazy as all get out. She would buy the most expensive tv from walmart (this was 20 years ago) and then use it for when family came over for the holidays and then return it for a full refund when everyone left. Almost using it just to seem as though she had money enough for a tv. Your type of mentality kind of reminds me of that. No offense personally I just don't like when people do this because they can't make up their mind.

This video actually made my decision for matte black more clear lol. Jet black looks kind of like a amped up 7c.

Those fingerprints seal the deal for me..matte black without a doubt for me. Besides, I think the matte finish looks classier and stealthy, whereas imo the "glossy" 7 looks like cheap plastic and cheesy looking.

Yup exactly. Grip is all I care about. I could care less about the other things.

Thanks for posting this, great vid and commentary, pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for me. Matte/plain it is.

That's fair. Last year I was undecided on going from the 6 to the 6S Plus and 64 vs 128GB. It took a week of carrying the bigger the iPhone before I committed to the big size and biggest capacity. It took another month until I was able to get the Plus in 128GB. I think it'll take a couple of days to decide if the matte vs shiny has a big impact on the slipperiness (I hate that I've dropped my 6S Plus more than all of my other iPhones combined).
I doubt that I will be able to get a different iPhone within the 14-day return period. It's not worth the risk for me to be without an iPhone for a couple of weeks, so my options are return it or sell it on eBay. It's also not worth the resale value that my old iPhone would lose if I waited a month until the iPhones were regularly in-stock.
Good luck with your pre-order.

I had a huge crush on the Jet Black color but once I saw some real press photos/videos of both of them I'm totally in love with the matte one, it's waay stealthier and I bet it will be more resistant to scratches and what not.

not sure what any of this has to do with what we were discussing other than pointing out you use phones up until the day of no return and take them back last minute for an identical phone in a different color/size. Anyway, moving on...

per apple website.

  1. Jet black is available in 128GB and 256GB models. The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone.

Because of this, I would get the matte black.

You can see fingerprints on the matte black as well. I was going with jet black and a rear skin like I always do. I've got several coming to work so I get a chance to change my mind if I want

Any skins yet?

Would probably get matte black only cause I only need 32 and not 128 and they decided to not sell the jet black in 32. kind of annoying.

Initially I thought the black didn't look black enough but the photos show it is black

Really nice to see a return of true black for the iPhone color, away from the Spay Gray they've been doing for couple years now. So, which one are you getting and why?

Black looks stealthy to me like the iPhone 5 black.
Jet black looks like it may have a problem with grease/smears, fingerprints, dust etc. BUT it could also look amazing, hard to tell from pictures. Maybe like the iPhone 4/4s black.

Edit:

Black for sure. Even apple doesn't want people to get jet black. Their disclaimer is hilarious to me. Basically "this phone will get scratched to hell. Put a case on it or don't come complaining to us".

Funny, you read 'may develop MICRO scratches over time...' and come up with "this phone will get scratched to hell. Put a case on it or don't come complaining to us" which they clearly did not say.
