I just realized, a good way to tell if you want the black or jet black. Take a look at your apple remote, it has both right next to each other. The matte def picks up finger prints as well, not as obvious though Apple remotes.jpg

also curious about the reportedly improved grip with the jet black. definitely a good reason to go with jet black for me

I kind of wanted Space Gray to match the rest of my Apple products. But given the options I prefer matte.

Honestly I don't care or notice what other people have.

Funny, you read 'may develop MICRO scratches over time...' and come up with "this phone will get scratched to hell. Put a case on it or don't come complaining to us" which they clearly did not say.

Oh lighten up a little. Of course they are going to down play the scratching on their own product. MKBHD showed scratches on the demo units at the conference already. That plus finger prints....it's gonna be a mess. Hence why apple had to single out this color with a disclaimer.

The one video posted above just answered my question. Matte black it is. That thing is crazy finger prints.

I want the jet black.
I know the matte black is a better decision.

The question is... should I make a mistake tonight?

I'm going Jett Black. They both look nice and classy though, unlike the other white phones.

I've just read this entire thread starting from a position of "Jet Black" and I think I'll be ordering a 128GB iPhone 7+ Jet Black in around 6h15m.

Yes, the Jet Black will attract fingerprints but those will clean of really easily with a quick wipe. Matte Black tends to be harder to clean and definitely shows fingerprints almost as much as the Jet Black. With high gloss you just need to breathe on it and wipe and it's good as new.

As for scratches, yes the JB will probably be more noticeable but is more likely to be polish-able too. You can't polish matte finished because they become glossy where you polish them. My neighbour has a lovely Audi RS6 but it's matte grey which looked great initially but now just doesn't look as good as a nicely washed and polished gloss finish.

What freaks me out more than the finish is the size. I'm struggling to accept the iPhone 6, 4.7" size and yet the camera in the 7+ is too good to ignore. God help me! :)
Note to self: Order some combat trousers (cargo pants) with extra large pockets...

Sh*t, this is going to be a sleepless night for all the WRONG reasons! :D

Go plus for battery life alone!

Going with 7+ 128 jet black for sure.

My biggest problem is I want to buy the Verizon full price phone for full carrier support CDMA and GSM (Tmobile unlock only worked ATT and Tmobile networks).

But apparently if you buy Verizon, you may need a verizon account information in order to check out.

So damn confusing.

Yeah I hear you. Trouble is, I'm more of a 4" iPhone kinda guy. But the HD screen and the dual camera and as you say, the better battery. Ugh, this is tough!

I used to mock larger phones and never thought I'd use one, but then got an LG 2 a couple years ago and after getting used to it there's no going back for me. Its 5.2" screen felt huge back then but is middle of the road now. I've been using an S7 Edge (5.5") recently so no question I'll go for the plus. The extra screen real estate really is helpful for browsing and/or text-heavy apps, especially for my aging eyes. :)

I really want to get jet black, but I know how easily these iPhones scratch. I think the black will look less scratched up over time. I just with they made the silver without the white front. Maybe silver front or something else.

if im going to put a screen protector on the back of the phone so does it really matter if i get the jet black? I shouldn't have to worry about scratches.

I'm torn between Jet Black and Matte black. I'd get JB in a heart beat but a single scratch would drive me mad. I don't over protect my phone but I love to keep it pristine. A scratched back JB would be a nightmare for me. It's cool to have the newest color but I'm leaning toward the matte black now. It also looks good just not as a refresh like JB. I'm gonna pre order both and come to store to see the JB in person. I'll see if it's nice enough for me to choose it.

I can see the jet black being this year's 'gate'. Not because of the forum members, but the common buyers who won't have gone on Apple's website and seen the disclaimer about scratching. Unless they put it in a case. But even a clear case will take away from it's luster and a regular case totally defeats the purpose of getting that phone over the matte black.

Apple is very good at marketing. They can make a turd look like a flower in those videos and screenshots. I could see anyone going to the website, or watching that video intro they did at the unveiling, and drop to their knees at the beauty of jet black. In real life, will that be the case? Or will it be a plastic looking, scratch infested, fingerprint magnet? I guess time will tell.
