I'm still on jet black and trying to talk myself out of it.

Also, even though 128GB is WAY more than I need, at $4 more a month, 256GB might not be so bad...
I'm going to stick with matte, it looks classy, and I won't need a case so soon. Probably going to stick with that. I'll get the 7s in glossy. Let's hope the pre orders go well tonight.

Jet black will smudge. so if that's your color of choice be prepared to carry a microfiber cloth around. Or put a case on it. And if you put a case on it unless it's clear you still won't enjoy the color

The jet black looks amazing. I think I may go that route. I'm getting a case anyway, but having the shine along the edges and occasionally taking the case off to appreciate it will be nice.

I was thinking I would just go black since I didn't need the higher capacity, I always got the 32gb but last year they upped it to 64 and looking at my 6s I can't fit into a 32 anymore so if I have to go 128gb. I might as well go with the jet black. I always use a Spigen bumper with a clear back so it should be just fine.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Apple scared people off of the Jet Black on purpose....and that people are overreacting a bit. Just look at someone's Samsung Galaxy S7 (or Edge). Looks like the same exact surface. They will only scratch if you don't treat them well.

Anywho, keep getting scared off. Better chance for me to preorder one. :)

The difference is those are glass, and not a painted on gloss. Completely different surface, but the Samsungs scratch as well.

I am another in the Matte Black Camp....If history is any indication, I suspect there will be a thread opened on launch day as people receive their phones with marks out of the box. QC over the past few years has been well lets say subpar. Thinking back to last year with all the phones with screen issues (pressure points, light bleeding etc) if these made it out of the factory as up to standard then there is a good chance cosmetic blemishes will do the same. Going with the finish less prone to scratches will eliminate one of the many possible other issues that you could possibly get with mass produced items, especially as they ramp up the assembly lines and QC slips even more. I will not put myself through multiple exchanges again this year for something I could have avoided from the get go. I also think the Black looks better anyway. The more pictures I see the less I want the Jet Black which is good as it will avoid me dealing with worrying about fine scratches on the gloss which will happen even wiping the back off. Anyway, hope you all enjoy your new devices and Ill stop back when the "OMG Scratches at Unboxing" thread opens up next weekend!!

So much this! There will be no less than 3 threads on launch day about this.

This video makes it look plastic or similar to the C versions of phones.....

I like how the lady starts laughing how easy it is getting marked up!!

Hot DAMN that matte black! Sexy as F***!! It's interesting that Apple, of all companies - did not match the screws to the color of the phone. A little surprised by that. Not a bother but was just interesting to see.

Would this be a good clear case for the jet black iPhone 7?

iPhone 7 Case, Spigen® [Ultra Hybrid] AIR CUSHION [Crystal Clear] Clear back panel + TPU bumper for iPhone 7 (2016) - (042CS20443) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GIVX95M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_j0C0xb3XYE592

I currently have a Spigen case(tough armor, not a clear one) that's been on my 5s for three years and its held up very well. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with Spigen clear cases.

I'm one of those strange people that doesn't do cases. If I did, this would be a whole lot easier! :)

I'm actually trying to think through wether the jet black is "too much". I'm a low-key kinda guy, but I just love the phones with a nice mirror finish.

I went from no case to gotta have a case. Just not that safe with these things anymore. Used to treat them like gold, no it's like meh, it's my phone.

But, I too love the cool factor of the Jet Black yet feel it to be 'too flashy'. Like it's something a movie star would walk around with no case to show off or something. Matte Black for me.

I went with

though, the Spigen looks nice as well.

Yeah I've pretty much 100% decided on the matte. It has a very nice contrast with the logo and slightly with the antenna lines that I like. The jet black looks like a lot of other phones on the market, even though it does look awesome I just feel like the matte actually stands out a bit more. You can't go wrong with either though.

I just wish one of these reviews would come out and say if it more or less slippery than than the matte black. I've seen "surprisingly grippy" on theverge. But what does that mean? More grippy than he thought it would be but less than the matte? Or actually grippy? Ive seen some hands on reviews say its "going to be the most slippery iphone ever" But no real comparisons. I was fine with the grippyness of the 3g/gs; the iphone 6 is too slippery and I need a skin on it to use it.

Whats funny about her video is she puts fingerprints on it (started basically without many) and about dies laughing but then picks up the matte one and it starts out with more fingerprints than the jet black one did but does not say a word or see how it deals with fingerprints.

I would assume they have people going around wiping these down as they know attendees will be shooting videos and do not want to leave them go the whole hands on session without cleaning them. I couldn't imagine if the gloss was left out and handled that many times.

Lighter colors such as the silver/white iPhone will not show fingerprints. Glossy, dark colors will show fingerprints. Dark matte colors will also show fingerprints because the oils are darkening the color. You can't avoid that.
