"Make up"? the matte finish is slippery and there is nothing you can say to contradict that. You use your phone then way you want to use it but come here and tell me i am making up the fact that the iPhone's matte finish both on the iPhone 6 and 6S as well as the iPhone 7 is slippery with little to no grip at all, and no, Millions of people don't use their phone naked, most logical people use it with a case for added protection and grip, its a small amount of users that use the phone naked.

It's not slippery. You're making it up.

A bar of soap is slippery.

The 6s plus will literally fly out of your hands if you are not paying attention when picking it up.

K great. I figure if you get to come here and tell people that the polished aluminum material feels like plastic, I get to correct you and assure people that nope, it doesn't.

No you don't get to correct me because it's my personal opinion. Yes it feels and looks like plastic TO ME. It may feel like metal to you, heck it may feel like octopus tentacles to you, it's all your personal opinion.

Done with this silly argument, the matte back iphone 7 as well as the iphone 6 and 6s are as slippery as a phone can be and nothing you say is going to change that, thats why millions of people use cases you know, to add grip aside from the fact that cases add protection but then again you're probably one of these people walking around with a shattered iphone screen and dinged up iPhone because you used your iPhone with no case lol, good for you, its your phone after all.

No more slippery than my current 6S Plus Silver.

Aside from just liking the way Jet Black looks, I definitely prefer the steadiness of the grip on anything polished, vs. zero-friction surface of the satin finish.

Why do you care about jet black then? If you'll never look at the back...

I look at it from the side, i can admire its seamless uniformity, which the other colors do not offer, lol.

I admire good scandinavian furniture, where everything looks like its made from one piece of wood. Take Finn Juhl's chair 45 for example. All you see are clean seamless lines. Now thats good design

Was wanting the jet black. Went into the store and and asked for the jet black ( and selected it on the check in sheet) and what they ended up bringing out (and I didn't notice it really) was the matte black one. Didn't notice it until I got home. After doing some reading I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep the matte black and not go back and have it replaced for the jet black.

Another example of seamless design. The gemma box.

So with the Jet black, it really is the epitome of what Apple is trying to go for with regards to seamless design.

You worry about fingerprints after looking at it at the Store where it's been touched by hundreds of hands?

In real life, it's only going to be touched by you and you alone. You alone will feel its metal body with your fingers, despite others telling you it looks plastic.

So really, get the phone with only you as the sole user in mind.

seriously.. i hate when people try telling me it's not slippery. their palms must always be sweaty then, that's the only way the phone doesn't slip.

i just held the jet black and black in my hands, and almost dropped the black because i'm not used to it without a case. the gloss black 7+ is making me reconsider getting the plus.

Is "black" the same as "space black" on the Apple Watch? It looks a little darker than the "Space Gray" on the current iPod Touches, but I can't tell if it's same black as on the watches.

It may look similar, but the Space Black Apple Watch seems highly scratch resistant.

Well I stumbled across a few donuts in this thread fighting over which black is best o_O

Anyone took a real life photo of the two next to each other today?

iMore threw them up together for a couple minutes.

I went with the Jet Black 7 myself and at least at the beginning will be using a Spigen case. Might take it off later in it's lifetime though if I actually keep the thing more than a year. Coming from the 6 Plus - 6S - SE. Going back up a size. Though there were some Androids mixed in with those.

I know right :D I was about to tell him his hands must be really sweaty at all times since he doesn't think the matte back of the iPhone 6/6S/7 are not slippery but didn't want to come across as insulting even though he was clearly being insulting telling me I was making up the fact the matte iPhone is slippery as heck, if I was to use my Current iPhone (6S) without a case it would fly out of my hand as I was taking it out of my pocket without a doubt that's how bad the grip is on that thing and the iPhone 7 matte black is just as bad,

Jet black on the other hand has far more grip, it's irrelevant for me as I'm going to put it in a case anyway to protect my iPhone regardless but it's worth noting. I have my iPhone 7 plus jet black preordered hopefully will come in 2 weeks

I saw the JB in two stores today and man did they look like crap. I knew these were going to look bad over time but not within a day. I am starting to have my doubts with this one.

Just handled both the jet black and matte black at the Apple, and I definitely made the right choice for me going with the jet black. It feels and looks incredible.
Did it look like the jet black will get scratched easily? I'm gonna go in later on today to look at them in the store

It's not a silly argument. You are saying it's slippery when it clearly and technically is not.

Never had a case and all my phones after 1 year still look brand new. Just look after my stuff well I guess.

I used every iPhone naked until I got the 6 Plus. Thing is like a bar of soap (to me) with no case. In hindsight I should have just put a Ghost Armor on the back like I do for my iPads. But this time I will be going with a Jet Black.

I'm just getting back from the Apple Store where I checked out both the jet black and matte black. I have a jet black 7 ordered, and I went to the store wanting to like it. The jet black is gorgeous and feels great in the hand. I think if Apple only released jet black, it'd be a no brainer purchase (coming from a silver 6).

However, after seeing the matte black I really fell for it. Pictures do not do it justice at all. I was thinking it'd be a few shades darker than space gray, but it's this lush, deep black. It also feels just like the 6.

I'm going with the matte despite having to re-order and wait a few more weeks. I liked it that much.
