iPhone “XS” wouldn’t make much sense for an 5.8 inch or bigger Phone...

Based off of these rumors, there’s no reason for 5.8 users to upgrade. Marginally improved camera and speed is not enticing enough. And not everyone wants the 6.5 model.
Most don’t upgrade every year (that’s always been true) so I agree that most X owners won’t see any reason to upgrade. I do think there were quite a few X buyers who previously had a 7 Plus who will switch to an X Plus now that their preferred size is available.

Most of the X buyers will probably be coming from 6/6S/7 (a few from 8) as the X is the closest to what they previously had. Those who don’t mind the slightly larger size of the LCD model will choose it mainly for the lower price.

Those coming from older Plus phones will mostly split between the LCD and X Plus, based on budget. Those who liked the Plus models for the better camera might very well buy the 5.8” X instead of the X Plus.

LMAO. Nope.
Never. Not ever.

It feels off, but I have been saying for some time they need to eventually get to iPhone and iPhone Pro. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the year. Every other product line has moved to this... it only makes sense, whether or not you deem "Pro" really for professionals, it is more so about features, just like the other product lines. iPad/iPad Pro, iMac/iMac Pro, MacBook/MacBook Pro, Mac(new mini)/Mac Pro.

As someone with relatively small hands, the current X is fine for me. I tried a 6 Plus and I couldn’t use it single-handedly so I guess I’ve hit my limit.

If the next iteration of the X only contains speed and camera improvements then this will be the first year I won’t upgrade. No criticism of Apple but I’ll be very pleased to save the cash and perhaps put it towards a Series 4 watch instead.

All I want is better Face ID, support for T-Mobile's new LTE band 71 (600MHz) in the modem, stronger front and rear glass, and faster charging in both wired and wireless modes. They could keep everything else the same for all I care. The device is functionally nearing perfection. Perhaps when the notch his removed I should say that. Yearly camera improvements are always welcome (especially low-light) along with more RAM to keep apps loaded when multitasking. It does a pretty good job now so these are just nit-picks.

Software wise I think the X should get a dark mode and PIP that can snap to the top or bottom since it has a tall display and iOS apps can dynamically resize vertically without much issue.

Following up the iPhone X is going to be really difficult. Every year my wish list gets shorter. Even someone like me who is on the iPhone Upgrade Program and has purchased a new iPhone every year since 2007 (except 2013—I don't even remember that year between buying my first house and us having our first baby) is considering whether I really need a new iPhone every year. The iUP makes it so easy though, and I just don't know if I could go three years to make it worth it.

I'm hoping that Apple Watch Series 4 supports BT 5.0 so that it can retrieve data faster from the iPhone, along with the bigger display in the same sized package. Oh, and please no stupid red dot on the SS. No matter what they do it's going to be fifty times better than my Series 0 which is barely sputtering along. I'm pretty sure this morning I heard it quietly cry out in a raspy tone "Kill me………just kill me!"

I realize the "Pro" moniker is all about marketing, but calling an iPhone "Pro" just borders on ridiculous to me
I feel the same about folks saying they are a "power user" on an iPhone

So this means we will have for 90% sure a second event since the 12 Sept event will house only the new 3 iPhones, new Apple watch and the new airpods
In October Apple must to have an event to let the world, not by press but with an event, the new mac mini is here, the new entry level macbook is here, presents the new iMacs, the new iPad Pros and probably show the 2019 Mac pro and apple display

lol, I'm more interested in the name this year compared to any other year. I think Apple should just call it iPhone 2018 with a size number beside it. This iPhone 9/C, XL, Xs is just getting too much if you ask me.

More and more evidence points to iPhone Pro

That would be unfortunate. Attaching a Pro designation to a Cell Phone is pathetic IMO. :apple:

Thank you. There is still hope in here. :apple:

The best option in my opinion:

6.1inch LCD - iPhone
5.8 inch OLED - iPhone Pro (5.8 inch)
6.5 inch OLED - iPhone Pro (6.5 inch)

Just like the iPad lineup, just like the Macbook lineup, just like the iMac lineup, etc.

That's a really good way of going about it. Although I feel they will not want to drop the X yet.

Why ridiculous? Comparable large screen phones such as the Note push "pro" features. What's the difference? In the end, it's just added features so I don't think it matters all that much.

It’s probably better for marketing purposes that they don’t just call it “iPhone 6.5”, iPhone 5.8” etc.

I do feel like they need to drop the numbers, but I can’t even wrap my head around how they’re gonna name these phones Lol.

"iPhone Ten S Plus" just doesn't have a great ring too it. Or as everyone will end up calling it, "iPhone excess plus."

Late to the party, but

The “new” iPhone X
iPhone 9
The “new” iPhone X Plus/Pro

Drop the numbering next year and go back to 2 models (i.e. the new iPhone X, the new iPhone X Plus/Pro) or 3 models with the “new” iPhone (works for the more affordable option/SE update). Similar to the iPad Pro models: no iPad Pro 2 just the “new” one aka 2015 vs 2017 version.

Should be

iPhone 11
iPhone 11 plus
iPhone 11 se

Naming it X was a mistake and should be erased from history.

It should be:

iPhone 9
iPhone 10s
iPhone 10s Plus

Next year:

iPhone 9s (same design as previous model, dual camera)

iPhone 11 (reduced/no notch, triple camera)

iPhone 11 Plus (reduced/no notch, triple camera)

The way we carry on about getting the best one, and rationalize with "long in tooth." I'm surprised they don't just use the year...
  • iPhone 18+
  • iPhone 18
  • iPhone 18L (for LCD) or Jr (or similar)
Stick the year in the name and it's visibly dated in 3 months, pressuring annual-instead-of-biannaual updates so that we can maintain the all-important "show our friends that we have latest & greatest."

Or to really wind us up and (self) pressure us to pay up for the max revenue-per-phone-sold:
  • iPhone Best
  • iPhone Better
  • iPhone Good
...though I continue to think simple...
  • iPhone Plus or Premier
  • iPhone
  • iPhone L
  • iPhone SE
Come to think of it: does it even matter? What if all 3 are just called iPhone or iPhone 18 (or maybe 19 to borrow rolling out "the future" a few months before January)... leaving it to customers to figure it out. I think there's 6 or 7 cup sizes at 7/11 these days and each cup doesn't have a unique name branded on it somewhere. I've never had an issue considering the various cup sizes and picking the right one for me. If each cup had a unique moniker, I don't think it would help- or hinder- the decision one bit.

After all this time, maybe do a Beatles "The White Album" on these and just tag them with an Apple logo only, assuming that we know it's their iPhone product without needing to read the name iPhone on it. I doubt anyone who would look at these will be confused into thinking they are the new iMac, Mac Mini or Mac pro.

These names are horrible. Why did you spend that much time writing such horrible ideas? How horrible.

Thanks. Just making virtual conversation. I'm sure your suggestions are probably perfection. Save us all the trouble and offer perfect alternatives. We're already 100 posts in awaiting your masterpiece names.

Apparently Apple needs your help too per this rumor. Help Apple.
