Personally, an updated IPP form factor Air will make it more cost-effective and thus easier to justify buying a new iPad in addition to a silicon MacBook, as opposed to the difficult either/or choice with the current MBA/IPP.

"The report adds that the first Apple Silicon Macs with custom processors will be unveiled by November"

sounds like if you are choosing between an iPad pro and a 12" Mac - this Mac would be the one to get as they Mac will be able to run Ipad/iPhones apps, already has a keyboard and it is very portable. The iPad Pro are ridiculously expensive once you add the pencil and the keyboard

I know many people do, but choosing between an iPad and a Mac is a strange dilemma. They may share some functions, but are entirely different devices. There are many things an iPad can do that a Mac can’t.

The notoriously accurate leaker, l0vetodream, noted that the new Apple Watch will have quick charging. This could possibly help to alleviate the battery life issue.
I don't understand the need for faster charging on the AW. For 99% of users you get the entire day, and charge it overnight. So what if it trickle charges to 100% at 3am or 4am? Unless the sleep tracking function is optimised to run on ultra low power mode for 6-8hrs, there's no point.

You can charge your watch AND use sleep tracking at night? Tell me your secret.

The Watch is a major product category for Apple and this year it seems to be getting a big update, so it makes sense to have an event focused on it. And we still don’t know how the SpO2 is going to be implemented (the typical Apple magic) and many other things. Last year, I think I didn’t heard anything about the Always On Display before the event.

It is only a bad upgrade if you have a new model. I still have my Apple Watch 0, so to me it is a major update. :)

Well, individual use cases aside, 2 years of minor updates for a key product category isn't a good look for a $2 trillion company that can afford world class R&D.

So if this is true, it looks like 30min-1h long event, not 2 hours as usual, so it is quite possible they will continue this event format in next months to release iPhones / AS Macs. Still hope we will see something more, because AW6 seems like a minor update and the Air is a redesign, but still not worth to make a whole event about it.

After the high production of the WWDC keynote, even if the announcements themselves are lackluster, I will still be just as excited because Apple’s events, prerecorded or not, are just so enjoyable to watch, from a production point of view.

Apple will spent 2 hours on just the watch 6, budget watch and new iPad Air?

Have you watched any previous events? Apple will spend time on:
  • Corporate responsibility (patting themselves on environmental stuff)
  • Remote work and celebrating the Apple ecosystem
  • Trotting out app developers
  • Apple One and other revenue generating services

I see a trend of repurposing their old design. I do wish that the new iPad won’t inherit the durability issues of current gen iPad pros. I may have to stick with my current air 3. At least, this design is far more durable.

Wait, trotting out devs....during a pandemic??!?!?

I don’t think so...

Hook line and sinker. Apple have you in the net and it's about to be hauled onto the boat.

The pulse ox sensor in the AW6 (or any wearable device) is not even remotely clinically accurate/useful for "early COVID awareness". Not only is any sensor of this type fundamentally compromised by the setting (wrist) and use (movement), by the time your sats have been measurably compromised by respiratory deficit or distress caused by the virus, you'll already know about it as you'll have been seen by doctors and likely already be in a hospital ward under observation.

As for "working out", unless you're into high altitude training, again it's a big no.
Completely agree. One question is whether the pulse ox sensor can be utilized in some way for sleep tracking, or to both improve sleep tracking accuracy and information provided by sleep tracking.

I am testing out AW5 right now with WatchOS7 and the sleep tracking features seem minimal compared to a Fitbit Charge 4 that I also testing.

I’ve tried a few times now, this is about my third, but every time I buy an AW I end up returning it within a month or so and going back to my regular analog watch...with AW5’s always on screen, at least I can accept it as an actual watch now, but still, I’m very much on the fence whether to keep/get AW5, AW6, or just keep the cheap crappy Fitbit for exercise stuff (which is all I like the AW for anyways) or neither of the above.

Durability has been my concern with the latest pros. I was surprised to see that the frame was not improved with the latest release.

Though as I just mentioned earlier they did not fix the issue with bright spot from Ipad pro 10.5 with the design of Air 3 either. By the way, have you had the bright spot appear on your Air 3 yet?

It all seems to have gone very quiet about an iPad Mini refresh this autumn, when it was highly anticipated earlier in the year. I was hoping for an all screen design in that form factor. Ah well...

They can't change it *too* much because apps are designed for the particular form factor. Changing to circular designs, etc. would break the UI and all of your watch bands.

I hated the drone-camera effect.

I don’t think so...

You know they can record segments where developers highlight their app or how they used the Watch's features/hardware in novel ways without actually being in the same room, right?

Since devices typically go on sale by the Friday after an event, and given that Apple Watches usually launch with a new WatchOS, is it a safe bet that the latest WatchOS 7 beta is the last beta? I've been wanting to upgrade to WatchOS 7, but I don't want to install a beta unless it's one of the last (because you can't go back to WatchOS 6, at least without help from Apple).

If Apple introduces a magic keyboard for to go along with the iPad Air, and Face ID, Ill be giving serious thought to selling my 12.9 2020 iPad Pro. The iPad Air has always been one of my fave models to date.

Just wait. You have waited this long already.
