Hook line and sinker. Apple have you in the net and it's about to be hauled onto the boat.

The pulse ox sensor in the AW6 (or any wearable device) is not even remotely clinically accurate/useful for "early COVID awareness". Not only is any sensor of this type fundamentally compromised by the setting (wrist) and use (movement), by the time your sats have been measurably compromised by respiratory deficit or distress caused by the virus, you'll already know about it as you'll have been seen by doctors and likely already be in a hospital ward under observation.

As for "working out", unless you're into high altitude training, again it's a big no.

this. I have Garmin's and the Sp02 sensor was interesting for about a week but is now turned off. The battery life hit, varied readings, and living near the coast, makes it just a gimmick for me.

Apple will probably put a nice spin on it, and I am interested in the AW6, but dont buy one just because of this. *(it could benefit some)

I expect about a month after release everyone will be complaining about battery life with Sp02. The addition of that and sleep tracking means there *has* to be some sort of battery improvements (whether charging or capacity) in tomorrow's announcement.

Since devices typically go on sale by the Friday after an event, and given that Apple Watches usually launch with a new WatchOS, is it a safe bet that the latest WatchOS 7 beta is the last beta? I've been wanting to upgrade to WatchOS 7, but I don't want to install a beta unless it's one of the last (because you can't go back to WatchOS 6, at least without help from Apple).
The rumor is that iOS 14.0 (and presumably watchOS 7.0) would launch imminently since it would be necessary for new hardware to be supported. Sounds like the iPhones will ship with iOS 14.1 whenever they ship in October or November.

As someone with central apena this is still a big deal. Yes I know I have central apena but I don't have the ability to find out how bad it is if I take a nap on the couch. Looking forward to this.

They could hint at what new improvements the iPhone CPUs might have as well..

I will bet this won’t happen. They announced the event only 1 week ago. If you have 1 week to edit this prerecorded event, adding external people to it, significantly increases the complexity of the editing process.

Have you heard of NDAs? During the September 2019 keynote, developers at TipsWorks and Capcom were invited on stage. Do you think those speakers maybe received invitations in advance of the public?

One sad thing that has lately happened is how ”Air“ products are no longer Air, but boring stripped down versions of the Pro. Want to see something as radical as the iPad Air 2 or the 2015 MacBook.

What if this blood oxygen monitor thing is US-only? There would literally be zero reasons/new things in the Apple Watch 6 then for people elsewhere. Really weird upgrade. Even WITH the blood oxygen thing. I mean erm... is that really something people need to check daily/constantly? Will be my first Apple Watch I don't buy.

Actually, having Blood oxygen monitoring is going to be HUGE with sleep tracking fonctions to help detect sleep Apnea with the apple watch.

I think we will be seeing lots of stories about detecting Apnea as much as the stories about detecting Cardiac malfunctions.

Still waiting on ECG in Australia. I have a feeling this new feature won’t be available as well.

I've used the ECG maybe twice. Everything normal, as expected, and that's that. The oxygen level though is something I'd like to track.

Well, individual use cases aside, 2 years of minor updates for a key product category isn't a good look for a $2 trillion company that can afford world class R&D.
I get your point but the SiP miniaturization that Apple is doing here is nothing short of a miracle of engineering - to add features it takes time/years as whatever you want to add needs to go into the same die, same limited space and same battery capacity. Also there is marketing angle, I am thinking that the Apple Watch is getting dangerous close to the limit of features that can be added using this current design

They also tweeted “no watch this month”, so I’m disregarding everything else they say about the Apple Watch

we’ve been over this but l0vetodream messages only count as actual tips when they say “in my dream”.

If they don’t say that then they’re just trolling.

You can charge your watch AND use sleep tracking at night? Tell me your secret.
You misunderstood what I was saying, which should have been clearer from what I wrote above that.

Sleep tracking precludes overnight charging so the battery will have to support low power sleep tracking otherwise you'll wake up with a depleted AW which may not last you the day..

I don't understand the need for faster charging on the AW.
It degrades the battery quicker, driving you to upgrade a year earlier. ;)

Oh, you meant what's in it for the user...?

(Confession: I don't have an AW and won't be getting one. My "one rule" with tech is that I don't get locked-in to any manufacturer, and an expensive watch that only works properly if you keep using the same manufacturer's phone is a lock-in par excellence. But I strongly suspect that faster battery degradation is seen as an unspoken advantage of fast charging by all device manufacturers).

So amped about the S6. Not to be a downer but I’m in Australia and they still haven’t activated or got approval for the ECG I was promised. So forgive me if I’m not pumped for another feature.

I've been running the public betas on my iPhone, Watch, iPad Pro and Apple TV. The build numbers are ending in "a." So, I think they'll release the GM tomorrow. Pre-orders by the end of the week and delivery the end of the following week.

If the beta I am running now is even close to GM then I am just losing faith. Beta 8 has been less stable than the last couple betas. Carplay was extremely buggy this morning.

They can't change it *too* much because apps are designed for the particular form factor. Changing to circular designs, etc. would break the UI and all of your watch bands.

I wouldn't expect something so radical. I would have liked to see some more polish on the existing form factor, and if not, an updated battery would very likely make me update my AW4. But let's see what's in store.

I hated the drone-camera effect.

Same. Felt like watching a news anchor from early 2000s.

It is only a bad upgrade if you have a new model. I still have my Apple Watch 0, so to me it is a major update. :)
The oxygen saturation is actually a huge thing, HR goes up and and sats drop rapidly as COVID progresses, may save some lives. In fact, it will. So what do you consider bad? No new colors?

As for the iPad "Air", I was never convinced by this stopgap "watered down Pro from 2 years ago" category between the vanilla budget iPad and the Pro. It's just SKU bloat. I'd much rather they modernised the budget iPad and iPad mini, then give it all for a fantastic iPad Pro experience.

It's not bloat at all. The iPad is a fantastic budget deal for a lot of people who just need a web browser and candy crush but for anybody using the iPad more or want a better device with more longevity the Air is the dogs bollocks. For all intents and purposes the Air is the real iPad, while the base iPad is for your kids. It's not a stopgap, the Air is the iPad to buy unless you're looking for budget or pro devices.
