I need help deciding if I should get it for bootcamp or ps3. I'm a fan of cod4 on bootcamp and with my 8600m 2.4ghz macbook pro it has good framerates at 1280x800 but with all the other settings at low except high textures.

I like keyboard and mouse controls but I also really enjoyed the Uncharted 2 beta on the ps3 (def. getting that game) and thought those controls really worked well... but for some reason I don't really like resistance 2 controls and I can't get good at it.

I haven't played cod4 on the ps3 so I should probably find a way to try it out, but from experience does it play similarly to resistance or should I be ok.

I'm kinda sick of playing with settings on my mac compared to a simple controller.

I reserved mine for xBox360...Now I'm second guessing myself. The truth is, I've never ran Windows in Bootcamp. Right now I use Parallels, which sux for gaming!

Any one have any experience with Bootcamp? Will I be so depressed with the graphics that the love of keyboard and mouse fps will be overpowered?

I've got the 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, ATI Radeon HD 4850...iMac thing. :apple:

The Mobility 4850 in the iMac is approx. equivalent with to the desktop 4830.

Here are some benchmarks of that card running Call of Duty 4;

I think you'll be able to find good looking settings to run Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 smoothly.

Remember that COD 4 and MW2 are both 600p on consoles, so your 4850 is more than enough and the graphics will probably be even better on pc.

Its really the controller preference - if I had your mac I would go bootcamp no question (but thats because I like keyboard/mouse), but on my 8600m I might have to sacrifice and go ps3.

its not call of duty.just modern warfare 2. they dropped call of duty. and if i have the money im getting it the night it comes out, staying up all night beating the campaign, then pwning some noobs online.:D

No, they tried that, but they put the 'Call of Duty' back because only a fraction of normal people recognized the brand, which is obviously huge for its name recognition.

Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Im not hyped for this...........yet. Ill get there.............maybe. Reason, this is gonna be the 5th call of dookie game this gen. The formula got old,the online needs a facelift of variety ala Killzone2 and they better have multiple map packs cause modern warfare1 only had one pack.

I dont usually say this **** cause I hate it when people say it to me but at this moment Im having a bad day so here it goes.......isnt there like 5 other call of dookie modern warfare2 threads already????

The Hype will kill this game.

People will be expecting far too much.... and it will be the same as the last one with some added bells and whistles....

I will buy it, because I liked the first one, but I do prefer the Killzone 2 multiplayer with its 32 player and on the fly game mode changes these days.

When I got back to CODMW it feels a bit too much like an arcade game for me.

Anyhow, regardless, the game looks good, but I do think there will be a bit of a backlash when its released from people who expect it to be 'perfect'

Complaints like, "In real life this gun has faster reload times, and this gun should be more powerful than this gun..... and that gun is for NOOBS!"

I agree with some points. CoD4 was great because it was so simple and simply there was no such a game which would beat it. I'm afraid that MW2 will have too many tingels and tongles so it'll be a quite mess. I don't like the idea of two primary weapons because it'll make snipers too powerful etc.

KZ2 was nice for few weeks but it's so boring and slow. I like the speediness of CoD4, there's no time for thinking and something is happening all the time. Also in KZ2 I maxed my level (General) in one day so there was nothing to capture anymore and game modes sucks compared to CoD4.

I know it won't be perfect but I just want it!

Massive fan of Call Of Duty since i played the first on the PC many years ago. It has got better and better with each release, although number 3 wasnt all that. I used to COD4 on my 360 but i got that e74 error and binned it. Im getting a new console soon though just so i can play this and Assassins Creed 2. Im not sure whether to pick up a 360 Elite or the new PS3 Slim though. Hmm

You should get the ps3 slim, I got it as my first console and I'm very happy. Plus you don't need to pay for online services like on the 360..

Anybody know if this will be available for Mac? Or, at least, eventually available for Mac?

I'm debating whether to get it for Xbox or PS3. I have COD4 for Xbox and the online experience is generally very good. I borrowed a friend's COD4What do you folks recommend?

Play on Bootcamp or wait for Mac version?

I'd usually just buy this for Xbox or PS3, but with all the games coming out on those platforms this holiday season, and being that I'm really only interested in the campaign anyway, I'd like to put this on my MBP and enjoy the portability and better graphics. I actually played COD 4 on both my bootcamp partition and the Aspyr version on my Snow Leopard side. Contrary to what I suspected would be the case, the Aspyr version actually ran way better on my system than the bootcamp version did. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems the consensus on the boards is that the opposite should be true. It begs the question, would I be better off getting the pc version and playing on bootcamp, or just wait for someone to release the OS version? Is there even an OS version in production? Does anyone have a release date? Keep in mind that I have enough games to hold me down for now and I don't mind waiting for the OS version if there is in fact one being made and if it will run more smoothly on my machine.

I have the Prestige edition Pre-ordered and paid in full. :D It will be ready for me to pick up at the midnight lines!

Can't freaking wait for it!

Yah I can't wait. I still love playing the heck outta COD:4MW... MW2 looks legit. I wanna use those riot shields!! I game on my 360 and this is the game I most want to come out lol. : )

Infinity Ward has announced that there won't be any dedicated servers for the PC version of COD:Modern Warfare 2 -- the game will be played online only over their own "player matching" service called "IWNet". That means no mods, no clans, no custom rules, no proprietary server admins. IW will more-or-less decide who plays with whom, and what the rules will be.

This doesn't affect console gamers, only those that play on PC's. It's causing quite a stir in the PC gaming community and there is an online petition trying to convince Infinity Ward to reverse that ridiculous decision. There are approximately 100,000 signatures on that petition, a substantial percentage of which have cancelled their preorders.

Information on the decision from Rob Bowling (FourZeroTwo) at IW:

If only petitions worked. Look at Vietnam.

This all sounds like a bunch of complaining for nothing. Now, I don't play games on computers but I know what people do with the whole dedicated servers. Get over and move on. Infinity Ward won't be affected by this. The game will still be incredibly successful, hence is why they are sticking to their guns.
