Used a bunch for this one...Camerabag, Camera+(twice), and ColorSplash.

Cool...I looked for the free alternative earlier but was too lazy to search for it in the thread. I downloaded some other free app and was less than enthused so I went ahead with Color Splash.
Golden Retriever?

Not sure if this one has been mentioned, but I use a great app called Mill Colour. There's preset color tints/filters, but then you can adjust the saturation, lift, exposure, etc. It has a really nice interface. Been using it for quite a while now!

That's correct! She's the subject of a few photos here in this thread, this was one of her more rambunctious poses.

I've also tried DashOfColor (Free) and TouchofColor (Free) which allow you to return color to a gray scale image. Colors Pro was the most accurate and allowed for zooming. I kept all of them in my photography folder though.

I couldn't agree more. Hipstamatic is tempting, but I have yet to invest in the App and all the add-ons for this reason. They do make an app called Swank-o lab or something that is just for post editing.

It is disappointing, but the Float and BlackKeys B+W film effects by themselves are worth the $4.99 total investment (they're in separate $1 add-ons) and the risk of missing a shot because you don't get the unprocessed image.

In high-saturation scenes, Float looks amazing. The BlackKeys B+W (not the Superfine, they're different) is a great black-and-white choice when your subject is red because it leaves the reds slightly saturated and completely desaturates everything else. It's a great effect.

Camera+ is awesome. I like the little viewfinder and if you touch it you leave a finger print just like real camera.

Thanks, I played around with it a few days ago but just realized it has the preset filters in addition to the color controls! Glad I kept this one.

I got excited for a second... but it's the free version of a paid app that's limited to 640x640 output. The full version is $1.99, same as Color Splash.

I agree! The BlackKeys B+W will also leave blues slightly saturated and works great with the John and Lucifer lenses. I went ahead and just purchased all of the combos, only a few dollars. Really liking the Helga lens.

Hmm, you're right. I actually went back and aimed it at a RGBY card and all the colors appear to be saturated slightly. I never noticed.

Red is by far the most saturated, blue gets a little bit, and the yellow and green are there but you can barely tell. Interesting.

I tried a blue subject real quick and while you could see it was blue, it didn't give the nice faded pop the red does. I still think I'll use it mostly for red subjects.

One more for this thread. Here was my process for this photo:

1. Shot with Hipstamatic (John S Lens, Ina's 1969 film)
2. Processed with Camera+ (Redscale effect, saved then reopened to add Grunge effect)
3. Additional processing with Pic Grunger (Aged effect)

Camera+ would be the perfect replacement for the camera on my phone if it only recorded video as well as take pictures.

Since it can't do video, I keep the Apple camera app on my main page and tuck Camera+ away in a folder. I ONLY use Camera+ to add effects or edit a photo AFTER I've captured it with the default camera app.

The reason I like the default app on my main page and tuck Camera+ away is becaues the default app automatically opens in image capture mode (camera+ requires you open the app then tap the camera button), the default app also has your video recorder right there (camera+ doesn't have video recording), the default app also geotags (if you take a photo with camera+, you lose the geotag when moving it to the camera roll).

Anyone else feel the same way when it comes to your default app vs camera+?

Pics

Took both pictures with Hipstamatic then edited with Camera+. I ran the second one through the grunge filter.

That about sums it up for me. I do take my pictures with Camera+ now though just because I like the image stabilization, two point focus, and zoom slider. I know there's nothing the developer can do about the geotags, but maybe they'll add a settings option to allow for app start up with the camera. I'd definitely purchase an app that allowed for Camera+ type filtering for video.. any developers out there? I'd imagine that would take a loooong time to render.

the default camera app has a zoom slider as well. or were you referring to the placement of it on the side?

Already exists... Cinema FX for Video... number 4 in the Photography category. $1.99 with two $0.99 effects packs available as add-ons.

Yeah I was referring to the placement on the side of the screen rather than having to tap the screen to bring it up.

Has anyone tried Cinema FX? I'll look around to see if there is a thread discussin it. Thanks.

My problem with the image stabilization is that I'm so shaky that it never actually takes the picture unless I rest the edge of the phone on a table or some other hard surface. Any tips?

I'm having this issue too - I stopped trying to use the image stabilization because it never took the shot. Maybe I'm just too wobbly on evening walks with the dog :D

Hold your breath! JK.. I have the same problem, I just use it for shots I want to turn out shake free. The flag picture was taken with the stabilizer on, think it helps a little with the pixel definition at the RAW size.

I think the zoom is the same on Camera+, it's just placed readily available on the side of the screen rather than minimized awaiting a tap as seen on the native camera app.

I really like Hipstamatic. These are from my 3GS:

is there any way to know what is in the whole frame of the picture? For Hipstamatic, what you see in the viewfinder is smaller than the entire picture being shot.
