WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CAMERA APP

OK, i just spent about $10 on photo apps because of this thread. Talk about peer pressure. Though I am intrigued by the Camera+ app. Not too shabby.

Love miniaturise on Camera+

Then you should get Tiltshift Generator. There's really no comparison between the two in terms of quality. The Miniaturize filter in Camera+ leaves some blocky artifacts in the blurred areas. Great for an included filter in an otherwise excellent app, but it doesn't even come close to the options in Tiltshift Generator.

You can select radial or linear blending, resize and rotate (linear) the blend lines, and control the amount of vignetting, saturation, brightness, and contrast with some easy sliders.

$0.99 well spent if you like that effect.

+1 to this. I found it to even make photos sharper on my 3G.

Bought Camera+ bc of this thread and havent looked back. Without even taking the editing options into account, its still worth the 2 bucks.

Ah...I got tilt shift focus and that is one crappy app. Must try the one you speak of.

Tilt Shift Focus looks like it gets the blurring wrong, from the example images they have. They used some kind of linear or motion-blur style effect, which is should have just been Gaussian.

Focusoid looked decent as well, but the limited output resolution kept me away. There's also one called simply TiltShift that's $1 more, but it looked like it had a bunch of extra options I'd never use, such as changing the aperture shape to the Apple logo, and such.

In any case, while I have no experience with the others, I can say that I was impressed with the output from Tilt Shift Generator.

This app has to be the best photo app around it continues to stun me with the pictures it can make.

Hipstamatic for me every time. Can't get enough and love the fact you have set films/lenses/flashes to play around with to give different effects - as people have said before, the process is more like using the old film cameras than simply taking a shot then playing with it. Somehow seems more organic.

Anyway, here are my offerings.

Hispamatic looks really cool. I just can't get past the fact that you can't access the original photo. If they fixed that, I'd buy it. Though I'll probably end up buying it eventually anyway.

There's always Swankolab - similar to hipstamatic but using the idea of a developing dark room as opposed to retro camera. You take a photo you have taken with the native camera then select different chemicals that will affect the resulting image. Here are a couple of mine.....

Guys question, I love camera+ and have posted photos earlier...i just purchased Hipstamatic over lunch and only had a minute to look at it. Can you only shoot new photos with the app and not use photos from camera roll l etc? Did I just miss the option?

Thanks guys!

With Hipstamatic you can only shoot photos - they try to recreate using an old skool film camera where you don't know what the shot will look like until it is developed. If you like the UI and the effects, check out Swakolab (see my previous post).

Here's one I made from Camera+ using "So Emo" filtering. I'm naming it "Til Death Do Us Part".

I really want to like this, but it just isn't good enough (the app, not your image). The tones are all jacked up, and they have been like that on nearly every HDR pic from the different HDR apps out there. Their tone mapping is just off. Too many dark and light spots across a single image to make it look accurate to real HDR.

Hope someone comes up with an app that actually does it right :(

First time post. Long time lurker. Just want to say the camera was one of the main reasons why I update my 3GS. And I use anything from Hipstamatic to Pictureshow to Lo-Mob to ClassicInsta

I agree with you on Hipstamatic. I really enjoy this app but I spent $10 (I think) on all the add ons because what it comes with isn't much. You need those other filters/lenses/flashes to make something cool.

Camera+ has served me very well but I also wish it came with a lot more frames, etc... like Hipstamatic but then again they all gotta make $.

I think I went a little overboard with Hipstamatic, I didn't expect to spend a lot on a photo app but hey, I'm addicted...

I'm up to $6-8 bucks with Hipstamatic...I actually lost count... but add-on B&W frames are amazing..I was not happy with the stock lense or frames. It's totally worth it if you spend the $8 bucks on the addon frames.
