Tech details on how you got this image?

Also to any others posting images, could you provide details on the lenses, filters, and film used? Assuming Hipstamatic. Thanks....

Want to say thanks to those that offered answers to my Hipstamatic and Photo+ vs Photo Plus questions.... :)

I will say that as a "serious" photographer I have never been partial to cellphone cameras till I got my iPhone 4 a couple of weeks ago. Will it replace my Olympus m4/3's system - no! LOL But seeing how the iPhone 4 can be a decent substitute to the Olympus system for me at times.

Earlier this week I was in Crystal City, Virginia doing some photo work for them. Had a free afternoon and needed some staples (ie. food :) ) and went down to to the other side of the area. As luck would have it there was a farmers market that afternoon. :( so I was just happy to have my iPhone 4 with me to grab some snaps (posted below).

Since coming across this thread I have added Hipstamatic to my iPhone 4. And going to look at the other apps mentioned recently as well. May end up going broke. :D But as a photographer that loves alternative processes - I am seeing that the iPhone 4 for now maybe a great toy with some of the photo apps to allow me to have a camera with me all the time. And allowing a creative streak at the same time.

There are a couple of get togethers over the next few weeks that my Olympus system would be a burden at times. Yet at the same time I don't want to miss out on some decent opportunities at the same time.

My lament is that Apple went with 5mp for the camera - know that the topic has been beaten to death here and else where.... Should have been at least 8mp IMO.. but Apple has their "tech" reasons... :) I know that if I think that the camera on the iPhone 4 is as nice as I think it is for actual prints - I might just not wait to upgrade my iPhone in 3 years as I have done so far.... LOL

I'm probably buying an iPhone 5 when it comes. Don't want a phone that looses it's signal. Plus, the camera will probably be increased in Mega-Pixels, better everything. (Let's hope!)

BTW, awesome photos! Pssst: iPhone 5 will have even more better photos.

Thanks.. I assume you were referring to me :D LOL

I had the original iPhone from three years ago that was starting to have some issues - that is the reason I upgraded to the iPhone 4 at this time. And happy that I did...

Not the right thread, but the signal strength this is over blown IMO. The new iPhone 4 performs so far equal or better than the original iPhone did. Here in my condo there are a few spots that the iPhone 4 is reporting a bar or two less than what was reported on my original iPhone. But no dropped calls as of yet...

Given the two year contract for my iPhone 4, I may have to wait till the iPhone 6 that will even be better LOL

Can actually someone tell me, is it just me that gets always blurred pics with jimmy lens? No matter how steady Im trying to be I always get the blur and not the good kind. Its a shame cause that I like the filter.

Can someone post some pics with your fave Hipstamatic non standard lens/film?

I think you will find, if you go through some of the previous pages, that me and several others have posted a ton of Hipstamatic photos with non-standard lens/films. I know I have; I hope it wasn't a waste of time if people are not bothering to go through at least a couple of random pages to see what other's have posted... In fact, on page 25 I did a comparison of every Hipstamatic lens with the Pistil film. I was planning on doing this with every film and lens combo, but it seemed not worth my time if people aren't even bothering to look at it.

For my non-hipstamatic photo of the day, this was just a quick simple test of a very low-light setting, no flash, taken with Camera+ then cropped with CineCrop for a movie-like aspect ratio and finally, a fake lens flare added with the LensFlare app:

I actually did check the other pages, but only after I did my post. I know I have been silly! I should have done the other way around.
I also saw your lens comparison and noticed that you haven't done the film comparison, but if you'd like to do it for me I would appreciate that.

Your low light pic is very nice.

Because of the iPhone 4 and this thread I am getting a bit interested in photography, and I'm going to purchase a Holga (Toy Camera) very soon :)

I'm a big time Holga user! (I've even had some of my Holga photos published in magazines.) You'll love it as long as you keep in mind that you either have to develop your own film or have a professional film developing house that will develop 120 medium format film (those little one hour photo places do not develop 120 film usually.)

Sorry for the non-iPhone photo... this is Holga (no photoshopping, no apps, straight from film to scanner):

How about the Diana+? It has a wider selection of lenses but probably different character compared to the Holga. Anyways both have also 35mm film version too, are they different quality wise or similar to 120mm?

I have no idea on how to develop a film

I haven't used the Diana+, I personally prefer the Holga from what I know about the cameras. And 35mm film is much different (lower) quality than Medium format (it has to do with the size of the negative.) I never shoot 35mm (though it is kind of fun if you like seeing the sprocket holes which some people do.) But part of the point of the Holga is that it is such a cheaply made camera with all of those light leaks, but you are capturing the image on nice high resolution Medium format film (so you can make nice enlargements.)

Also, I no longer develop my own film, I have it sent out, so depending on if you live in a city that that's convenient to you or not...

Finally, if you do get a Holga, I recommend that you do NOT get it from Lomography. They are a complete rip-off (with great marketing though.) Most serious Holga shooters know that Lomography are way over-charging for the Holgas. Their Holgas range from $50 to $70 where as any where else you can get the basic Holga (without flash) for no more than $27.99, and it's the same exact Holga as what Lomography sells. DOn't know where you live, but I live in Los Angeles and here there are plenty of stores that sell Holga (Freestyle, Samys, etc.) Samys Camera develops medium format film by the way, though they actually send it out to "A and I" photo so it takes about a week to get your images back.

another pic edited with Camera+ (luv this app :D)

Has anyone used plastic bullet? It looks like hipstamatic, but with a little more to offer.

I am. I basically use it as main camera now, I love it.

These are with Plastic Bullet.
