Come on..

Not to sound like an insensitive prick but if he is disabled, he is most likely getting a check form the government as he is not able to work.

Meaning we the people are buying this iPhone for him.

Really, it's a luxury item. If you can not hold a job due to a disability, do not buy luxury items.

He said he has his own savings....

So because he made a death wish, he must automatically go to church? Nice. We have an ID 10 T error in the house.

Whoosh....

So does the "I fought for your freedom in Afghanistan". Irony at it's finest. If he was that unhappy, he probably picked the wrong profession.

Jerk or not, he should have respect for others - or did he not learn that in the military?

I never said he wasn't in the wrong... I was saying he may be a jerk, but you're no better.

If anyone is in the Dallas area, please stop by McDonalds and pick him up a handful of Egg McMuffin's and let me know (send me a photo of him eating his McMuffins) and I'll pay for it.

Yes, the official Apple Stud McMuffin cares about strange people like this guy who is spending his first vacation in ten years, in a really weird and poor way.

Your remark is so naive that I'm having a seizure right now! God, I won't be able to work for a year! Having said that, I made the decision to visit Macrumors and post something that expected people to react this way. I can only blame myself. Others should start doing the same.

I travel regularly in the world and I see all sorts of disabled people in various positions. You have to be almost dead not to be able to find a job if you really want to. The rest is about fine-tuning the social system and not penalising work over economic inactivity.

Without a purpose in life, you are lost. If for this man the reason to live is to be first in line, I feel sorry for him. And I don't care if he's got any condition or not. Sometimes, there are no excuses for poor choices.

Justin is deriving a great deal of pleasure from simply camping out on a sidewalk to buy a phone. He's not judging anyone or demanding that they adopt his personal system of values. He's just having a good time without harming or denigrating anyone. You could learn a lot from Justin.

*grin* I looked over the postings and found everything I wanted to write had already been written (and, in many cases, in a more humorous manner).

Hope this guy doesn't leave it in a bar.

I already have a table reserved in hell in the VIP section. So don't worry about me. :) <<< Um looks like stupidity and ignorance to me, Can we say hypocrite?

Oh and I have and always will support our troops. However, I don't support stupidity and ignorance.[/QUOTE].

Back on topic!! yeah this is pretty sad he's out inline already. Glad mines coming with fedex on the 24th and i don't have to deal with the weirdos!:p

Yes, we all should camp in the hot for a week to get a gadget!

The heat is ridiculous

I've lived in Dallas all my life. The summer is MISERABLE. The area around Knox street is all concrete and even if the temp is only in the 80s and 90s in the morning, by afternoon it will be in the 100s. The concrete soaks up all that heat and radiates it back long into the night. The ground temp will easily be in the 130s. The air in his tent will be stifling; what will he do all day, stand around inside the store? The homeless (of which there are quite a few around that area) know to avoid the sun during a Dallas summer.

He said he has his own savings....

No, some guy came here and registered an account using his name and said he had savings. Why do all of you even assume that jwagoner or whatever the nick is the real guy ?

If we assumed everyone registering a name here was the real deal, Steve Jobs would have a bunch of accounts.

For all we know, jwagoner is a troll trying to impersonate the camper in order to elicit responses. His contradictions to the posted story is a good indication that the poster behind that account is not the real deal.

EDIT : Forgot IN MY OPINION before I'm accused of stating facts without basis.

You could say his love for Apple and Apple products is, "in - tents".... :D

har dee har har

Oh yeah? Well... I'm starting a line for iPhone 5! And I don't even know when that's coming out. That's how hardcore I am. ;)

ummm well he posted pics of himself and his tent and everything and even met another MR member, if you read the other thread you would have seen that :)

wow the love fest on the other thread is quite nauseating....

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/940624/

this thread is much more entertaining.....

I don't really care if he is disabled, if he is able to use the iphone, then he has enough faculties to realize the stupidity of his endeavor.....He has a phone reserved, he is camping on a sidewalk for the experience, not to guarantee a phone......

Leave the guy alone!

Most of us cannot even understand his situation and feelings. Most of us are taking even little/stupid things for granted in life. Until you lose that little/stupid thing, you do not realize. It is easy for most of you to criticize the guy when you are in healthy state of mind.

I agree. People are so quick to jump to conclusions.
