Seriously, the first thing to go if you lose your job is luxury. Maybe it's never happened to you, but that is the first thing you drop. Cellphones, Internet, Restaurant outings. Priorities. Geez.

Well done, you took an excerpt of my post and managed to find a narrow-minded rebuke while ignore the thrust of it, while actually dictating what people should 'drop' when unemployed.

Let's try it your style:

Seriously, because cellphones aren't going to help you find work, and neither is the internet. Geez.

There really is some good that comes out of threads like this. It gives us a chance to put all of the hateful ignorant useless posters who reveal themselves en masse onto the Ignore List. I seriously encourage all of you who are sick of the nasty vitriolic posts on MacRumors to put those members on your Ignore List. It really does make reading the forums a much more pleasant experience. Just click a member's name and go to their profile and add them. I have added literally 80-100 names from this thread alone. The world becomes a brighter and brighter place with every entry.

And should you or a member of your family be unable to work, through disability, illness or simply the recession or unemployment, I hope you will act in such a despotic and dictatorial fashion and withhold anything but the basic needs of living.

Heaven forbid anyone actually derive any pleasure while suffering misfortune.

If have a family member who has severe md but still does data entry from home on her shcedule. she does not want to be one of those lazy people who exploits a disability like this guy to live off our tax dollars. This guy could easily work and is proving it with his little stunt. I have no problem with people who are really disabled getting finically support, it is guys like this who exploit the system for personal gain due to just being lazy. It is pathetic that anyone believes this guy can sit on a sidewalk and camp out In the summer heat for a week and is some how completly unable to work.

you deny having any vested personal interest in the issue, yet you can't seem to just let it go...

People are replying to me, countering points, and I reply to them, just like you just did. This is called having a discussion. If no one was interested in discussing this, they wouldn't reply, nor would I and it would end there.

Simply put, some people are interested in discussing the disability bit. There is no vested personal interest. To throw it back to your "who are you questioning" bit (btw to answer that, no one, just throwing stuff out there for discussion purposes) even IF I did have a "vested personal interest" in this, what purpose would posting about it here do ? I'd be much better served forwarding all of this to some government bureau that serves him his check or his insurance company.

It depends on the disability. Seizures can be very dangerous. You can sit on your azz on a sidewalk with a seizure disability without much risk, but being in a work environment or even going to work in a car can be life threatening. The problem is, too many experts around here basing harsh decisions on no medical knowledge and no information on this person' medical history. But some people refuse to accept the very concept of disability and welfare. Until it happens to them I guess.

Sooo...This dude is famous now? Not something I'd want be known for...wasting a week of my life waiting for a phone outside. Hope he enjoys his 15 minutes.
How many week of your life added up would you guess you waste on Internet forums and watching TV?

Who ever said this guy was exploiting disability benefits? Where the hell does he say he gets disability benefits? Quit making stuff up about thus guy and passing it off as fact.

I vote to make this guy a honorary Demi-God in the forum, how many other members have gone from Newbie to Member in less than 24h, taking 28 pages of insults without judging or insulting another member and becoming page one news.. (for all the hates! some looser eh!!)

1 Vote from me. :apple:

p.s.

People do realize how much money & publicity this guy has raked in for MacRumors?

Negative publicity, this thread alone makes me what to find another site to get my Mac News from. All people want to do is bitch at this guy.

If this douche was lined up for a windows product every single one of his defenders would be screaming about how he could work but is exploiting the system and is just lazy. He could easily find a job that he could work with his condition and not leech of real hard working Americans.

First of all, where does it say he collects money from the government?

And do you even know what disabled people go through in this country? Think pre-existing condition, think medicaid, think about the rules in witch people with disabilities have to live by if they are on medicaid. SSI means nothing to us, it's all about the care we need for our disabilities that keeps us in the system trapped in a unending cycle.

Most disabled people will work under the table, and I think that is the case with Justin. We have to hide any income from uncle sam so we can continue to get treatment for our disabilities. When private insurance opens up to us and we no longer live by the rules of medicaid, well then you can call people out.

I don't post much on MR either, have been around awhile, and after reading most of the comments on this thread, yeah I am mad enough to post a reply...

Take it for what it is worth, for clearly there are two distinct groups of posters on this thread: The informed and/or empathetic and the completely ignorant and/or spiteful. Obviously nothing I, or anyone will say will ever be able to penetrate the hardened minds of the latter group. But just as a reminder, and as a little encouragement to the former, a couple of facts to consider.

Epilepsy (seizure disorders) affect about 3 million persons in the US in a given year. Despite what some may think, this is an incredibly debilitating disease and disability. These folks are on constant anti-convulsive medications, they are not allowed to drive, and IF they were even able to find employment, it would have to be something pretty limited.

Now, here is the real question. Are you folks that find the time and vitriol to actually disparage this guy so vehemently UNAWARE that the current unemployment stats in the US are close to 10%!!! Do you really think that this individual can just walk in to any employer right now and snag a job!?

As for the question of how can this person pitch a tent, how can he pay for it, etc. Who knows? Maybe, just maybe there are other mitigating factors that aren't in the "story." Maybe he has friends or family that help to support him. I do not know. But I do know, how easy and seemingly irresistible it is for certain folks to immediately rush to judgement!

Finally, a disclaimer. I do not know this individual personally, or any of his friends or family. However, I do know about epilepsy, and trust me, if you or one of your family members or close friends was afflicted with it, and had to deal with its ramifications on a daily basis, you would be singing a far different tune...

Oh my god. Where does he say he leeches? You have no facts and are making crap up, as usual.

The guy has no job, not in school and yet thinks he needs the most expensive phone with one of the most expensive plans.

Whats he going to do with it? Play video games on it all day long while he's at home sitting on his butt?

with upgrade eligibility, this is not the most expensive phone out there...$199 & $299, and you can get away with minimal contracts and the new data plan... use wifi when available.

How many are there to queue? Is the guy still there?

If he gives up in the next hour, accepts that he doesn't need an iPhone at all and agrees that roasting for a week for publicity or to be first in line is pathetic; I'll buy him an iPod Touch.

And if you shut up and quit belittling this guy and stop calling him names to make yourself feel better I will do nothing. But I know that's probably a tough thing for you do do.

If you pay as much in Taxes as you imply, you would have no trouble getting an iPhone 4, all you would do is skip a 3 martini lunches with your golfing buddies and buy the phone if money was that tight, which I doubt.
Based on the 2009 US Tax Brackets (http://taxes.about.com/od/2009taxes/qt/2009_tax_rates.htm) He could be making anything from $82K to $171K, so don't assume.
Yes, it is different. This is simply a consumer product, and there will be tens of millions produced, and everyone who wants one will get one. The Beatles were one of the greatest musical groups ever, and there were only limited tickets, and the Beatles had only a limited life as a touring group, so if one didn't line up, one simply would not ever get to see them.

If you can't perceive the difference, I feel bad for you.
Yeah I totally agree with this. It has never appealed to me to be the first one to get a gadget, especially if you have to wait for days on line. Seriously, I'd rather be doing more fun things in the mean time and wait an extra month until any bugs are fixed and the wait is over. But that's just me.

OK
This guy can't work but can sit on a sidewalk for a week?
Also what in the hell does he need a vacation from if he doesn't even work?

The line for the iPhone 4 has already started -- a week before its release. Justin Wagoner has set up a tent in front of the Dallas, TX Apple Store and appears to have started the first line nationwide. Wagoner was first spotted on DallasNews.com.

The discovery was quickly posted in our forums and spotted by Wagoner who posted a greeting to MacRumors forum readers, explaining his reasons for camping out so early:As proof of his idenity, Wagoner posted a photo of himself taking in the Apple Store:

He also posted photos from his camping setup. Wagoner promises to cointune to post updates when he can:Well wishers can post to the original thread which we kept distinct from this news story. Over the next week as iPhone 4 lines continue to form, feel free to email us photos at tips@macrumors.com. The iPhone 4 will officially launch on June 24th. While the initial allotment of pre-orders are spoken for, there should be a sizable stock available for walk-in purchases.

Sittng at home leeching off the government is hard work. Their is no reason why this guy can work, he is just lazy and this pathetic stunt proves it.

the answers are buried in this thread somewhere but I can't blame people for not reading the entire thing

I hope its okay if I post a quoted post from Justin (the guy) from the other thread which hopefully will clear things up a bit, I just figure it should be posted so people have his side of the story

Good day everyone!

It's Sunday June 20, Day 4 for me camping for the new iPhone 4.

Since yesterday evenings post I finally had the opportunity to use my phone and look at some websites that have wrote articles about me. The comments made by the majority on all of those articles are very heartbreaking and I'v been a extreme disappointed and hurt.

It's amazing how so many people in today's world jump to their own conclusions and speak before they think without knowing the person and/or having all their facts straight. Apparently there are more people out there to hurt to you then I thought.

The top few things I have noticed are the following:

1. Most do not have the respect for those who are disabled regardless of their condition.

In my case. I'm disabled because of my seizure disorder which prevents me from driving and scoring most jobs. This makes life EXTREMELY difficult for me or anyone with the same condition.

Some have asked about how bad my condition is so I would go ahead and tell everyone how bad it is for me sometimes so more will understand and have a little more compassion.

The seizures I have had since young age are non-epileptic and are unknown why I have them. My arms, legs or other part of my body twitch everyday and I have to remain alert as much as possible in case a major one happens. If its major, they are full body and look like grand mal (Tonic Clonic) seizures. They are always longer then 10 minutes and very severe. Some I have had in the past have been 2 hours long. What's more, there isn't really anything you can do, even if I end up in the ER.

In addition to the seziures. I also have 4 other learning disabilities including ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, and Dysgraphia.

2. Some say I should "Get a Life!".

I did write a response to this earlier, but I'm going to say it again.

What I am doing right now is enjoying and embracing life! What life is it you want me to have?

Let me guess? You want my life to be just like everyone else who goes to work (nothing wrong with a job) and/or attend school and then go off to live the "American Dream"?

I understand this might what everyone does everyday, but this crazy world has seemed to forgotten what life is really about! Life is about enjoying and living it to the fullest without having someone else running it for you! Whats so great about life if you spend it doing what others want you to do and not doing what makes you happy for your own enjoyment? Is that what you really want when you only get one chance of living it and not knowing when it will end? I didn't think so!

3. Work and Money

Okay so most of the first media reports you have heard me say I don't work. This is not entirely true, but I don't have a job I do everyday.

I do have my own business I do from home every now and then, but its struggling at the point.

Some have asked what my business is. I prefer not to reveal this right now since in I'm process of restructuring and renewing the business at the point.

There are also others who have just ASSUMED since I am disabled that I am not disability SSI benefits. I have not once revealed or said anything about that I do. Not everyone with disabilities qualified or receive benefits!

I have said many times that I am paying out of my own earned money that will be coming out of savings!

Besides all of this, it's really actually not anyone's business when it comes to these things! If you asked someone random theses question on the street. They will come back and slap you in the face and tell you it's none of a your damn business and its rude to ask in the first place!

Sorry I haven;t gone into details and been off topic about the launch in this posting, but I figured these issues are more important to be addressed.

If you want to keep track of the camping adventure of mine and hear about the latest, you can check out this site me and another user on here have been working on. The website just went live last night! www.iPhoneFirstInLine.com

Hope everyone has a Sunday Funday and Happy Father's Day!

With the way peoples pre-orders have been getting cancelled I would have thought there would be more people doing the same thing.

Did you even read his reply where he said he doesn't get government benefits? He also does work.
