I can't believe Apple messed this up. In Canada we have 3 internet music pay for download sites, and iTMS can't get it together enough to open up here ? Pretty funny. I won't be buying any music off the net so I could care less. Just makes me laugh.

dont know why youre getting that...

Well, I am at the US Store too, but I always get «lilac» pages: I cannot get to a baby blue page (which is the store main page, I guess)... Maybe there,s only one page that shows the country badge and that must be a blue page???

Well... I had $50 bucks on hand to spend on music tonight to celebrate the launch of iTunes Music Store Canada.
While I waited all day, I was getting impatient and took my list of songs I wanted to buy on iTMS and got them instead on Limewire. Apple's loss. I won't be buying music on iTunes this Christmas in protest.

They don't know how to keep a deadline. If they promise it will be launched in November, and even go as far as to confirming that 5 days before the end of the month that it will go ahead, then they better be damn sure they can keep that promise. Instead Apple has insulted millions of fans by not only not keeping their promise but also keeping all the fans in the dark.

They could have at least sent out a press release conveying the reason that they're late and when they hope to be online.

Will it be THAT big of a deal if it comes out tomorrow or the day after? They're probably burning the midnight oil trying to get the store out on time, if they miss by a few hours oh well...

It's not like it's really any sort of justification to steal music... ;)

I agree - I can understand not announcing new products until they're done to keep people guessing, but announcing then not following through is pretty frustrating...

I think the above quote pretty much sums up this entire debacle.

As much as I love Apple and their products...the air of self-superiority and aloofness that encompasses Steve Jobs and his empire makes it almost impossible to whole-heartedly praise and support them without reservation.

Not like it will hurt sales.
Look how many people bought HL2.

I agree...I sometimes have trouble recommending their products to people just because of 'little things' that they're too proud to fix (like their refusal to make a 2-button mouse because it makes things "easier," "less complicated"). But that's a whole other thread :)

I somewhat agree with above comment. However, Apple would not be Apple without secrecy and rumors and missed deadlines.

They missed deadline but I don't see that as a big deal. Steve said 3 GHz G5 and it's still not here.

P.S.
Wating for iTMS Canada to open is somewhat reminding me of the lineups on Krispy Kreme's opennings or for new Star Wars movie. I used to make fun of people for that but here I am, waiting for iTMS to open like I can not have my music tomorrow.

Did "The Steve" ever say this? No, a "PR" said this. That stands for "Public Relations"! What else would a PR manager say? Only what You want to hear. Jeez Louise, I love iTMS and have bought hundreds of dollars worth of songs and I want nothing more than Canada and Mexico and South America to enjoy what I am, but Hell man, its not like "The Steve" is not pushing the button just to piss you all off. :(

So I come home, open up iTunes, expect to enter in my VISA, buy a song or two. Realizing that this is not to be, I figure, maybe macrumors has an updated rumor, or even a new one. What do I find?? Over 500 posts on the topic! Those are some angry canadians. Hehe.

Actually somewhere in this thread (don't ask me where), several people made mention that Steve himself did say the Canada store would be open in November, at some Apple-related event.

Yeah, even the usually contained boss of Apple Switzerland has started to be arrogant lately - when asked about the online petition for a Swiss iTMS, he basically said that Apple doesn't give a crap about what Swiss customers want (that's not a quote, but it sums it up nicely). That interview on macprime.ch really was what angered me most about the whole issue. Apple has been treating Swiss customers as second-class citizens for years - they are sure willing to take our money but we don't get anything back in return. I would have never thought I'd say that but right now Apple (as a company, not in terms of products) is even less likeable to me than Microsoft. I can really understand why lots of companies here in Switzerland (lots of news papers, for example) switch from Macs to Windows or Linux boxes at the moment - they're fed up with that arrogant and secretive behavior Apple has been following lately. They've had huge internal problems (just think about the enormous shipping delays) and both customers and resellers have been suffering enormously - yet they keep on pretending that everyhing is ok, that everybody's happy and that they can continue like that forever.

Delay to Jan 1?

I am not sure if this was posted in the past 500 threads, but this was posted on Sunday from the macosrumors.com site:

Apple finally ready to open iTunes Music Store in Canada! Sources in Cupertino confirmed this only minutes before this update was posted.

Those sources said that the Canadian arm of the on-line music store might not be ready until the new year due to some licensing agreements which don't go into effect until midnight (A.M.) on January 1 2005; but the technology is already in place and requires only the go-ahead from the laywers, we're told.
