I am not sure if this was posted in the past 500 threads, but this was posted on Sunday from the macosrumors.com site:

Apple finally ready to open iTunes Music Store in Canada! Sources in Cupertino confirmed this only minutes before this update was posted.

Those sources said that the Canadian arm of the on-line music store might not be ready until the new year due to some licensing agreements which don't go into effect until midnight (A.M.) on January 1 2005; but the technology is already in place and requires only the go-ahead from the laywers, we're told.

Pffff.. Does anyone still visit that site?

On the video he also says that all the licensing stuff has been finally taken care of.

Apple announces stuff all the time and then doesn't deliver. If they follow the same pattern as with the latest series of dual-processor G5 Powermacs, chances are that you'll get your store today but you won't be able to buy anything from it until March ...

Well, it's 1:30am December 1, 2004 (here in the Eastern time zone) and still no store. It's not often Apple misses a month-long window to get a new product out.

Well, technically, they still do have 86 minutes to launch it before November is over on the West coast.

I hope i wake up to see a music store!

Some of us night owls are still up, but...I'm resignedly thinking everyone should relax for now and move back from the edge of their seats. If they promised November and it is still not here then clearly there's a snag in some negotiations, who knows why and between which parties. I will be happy when it gets here and will spend a mini-fortune but for now, I am going to try to completely back away from the waiting game and thinking it will be here any day. So chins up everyone and eventually we will get it!!!! :p

If the "iTMS Store isn't available in your area" message indicates an imminent iTMS then Australia must be getting one soon too!

And interestingly for the last few days, when I click on the link to browse the other stores, it doesn't go anywhere (whereas it used to take me to the US store). The only way I've been able to access stuff is by searching (tho it still is coming from the US store)

Fingers crossed, ASwitcher.....

Well in New Zealand we have the same problem as above ^. It wouldn't surprise me if the Ireland Store came online the same time (maybe they wanted to release some at the same time so they delayed slightly?) as it was onjly halted last time by disagreements, which I would say would have been sorted.

Also, (and this was never heard from me) I know some people high up in some record companies here and they had been pushing to get it here ASAP so yea...

We'll see though.

[Edit: Did anyone notice that the "iTMS isn't avail in your country..." has changed, you now have to click on the words "To Browse a Music Store, click here" instead of the Button that used to be there (labeled "ok")]

I think it's clear that there'll be no store today...hopefully soon though. I can't continue with this anticipation!

Not like it will hurt sales.
Look how many people bought HL2.

Bah, look at how many people bought WoW!

Granted, Blizzard never announces a release date (not anymore, not since the Starcraft release YEAR fiasco). :D

It's a lovely day today

Hi all, im in Australia it is currently 6:00pm Wednesday.

I was keeping an eye out all day just to see what was going to happen with the Canadian Music Store.

Anyways I thought I would type in "iTMS canada" in the 'Search Music Store' field within iTunes.

The result was this:

"Did you mean It's Panama?"

I clicked that and then it came up with one result, a song called "Its a lovely day today". Listen to the 30 second sample.

Is this coincidence or not I wonder....hmmmmm.

Good luck, hopefully it will come soon, only wish a date was set for us here in Australia....or as most know it, the land with kangaroos. :)

Wow, the only time I've seen a thread grow faster than this is, well... when something actually DID happen :D

1 hour until the last edge of Canada slips into December. Maybe some lawyers are up late on this? ;)

The flag page is back up for me... But there is no Canadian flag. What gives? Eh?

Flag page is back up indeed. I guess the "we'll have to wait january 1st, 2005" rumor is right after all.

Stupid copyright laws with stupid countries separations on a planet-wide network... We want a SINGLE iTMS store!

Oh well... "only one more month" it is.

P.S.: Good night, all.

Something's up everyone! I just clicked on Music Store and I got access to all the stores! I'm at the US store now! I think we can expect to see some uber changes in the next 50 minutes! YES! My hopes are skyrocketing! *Pulls credit card out and gets set for crazy spending!*

..so the flag page is up. I guess that means that we can kiss Canada iTMS good bye for now. I guess they had everything armed and ready just waiting to pull the trigger and let out Canada iTMS and because they missed the deadline, perhaps due to negociations with Sony BMG as rumoured, they unloaded the trigger and went back to normal operations without a Canada store.

I'm guessing we'll get it after the new year.

well, Canada, you got 45 minutes. IF you don't make it, I'll look forward to seeing you guys added with iTunes 5.0 at MWSF.

It was a nice dream . . .
We just need to talk to Steve about some promises he's made in the last year (this and 3 Ghz).

Don't you mean "unloaded the chamber"? ;)

Something is happening...

Yeah, something is definately different in the last five or so minutes.

I haven't been able to access ANY music store for the past week, and now it let me in. For some reason if defaulted to the Spain store, but I can choose whatever one I want.

Maybe we'll see the good ol' Canadian flag show up before midnight after all! I'm near Vancouver so it's not too late for me...gonna wait it out.
If it launches by midnight I'm having a donut and a beer to celebrate.

Wouldn't it be funny if it really did launch at 11:59 PST? That would really make me wonder if Steve-o was really reading the forum.

I can picture it now "oh, you foolish mortals, I shall bow to the will of the rumors forums, oh, and one more little thing - iBeaver"

Apple does have a sense of humor sometimes. I can imagine, if the last-minute legal issues (or feral cats in the Xserve rack, or whatever) were taken care of late--say, 10 PM Pacific--they MIGHT have just said, "What the heck? Throw the switch at quarter to midnight!" :)

I'm going to get on iTunes and download the free singles to pass the last half hour :p

Oh--and here's the iPodLounge thread if you're bored enough :)
