iPhone plus three years of 30$ plus voice plan (20$?) amounts to 1280$!

No thank you, I will just pick up a out of contract iPhone here in Europe before moving to Canada. Hell, I'll even get a out of contract iPhone if it will cost me more total, I just hate monthly expenses and the iPhone contract takes the cake.

i really hope that's not true..... that's ridiculous if we'd have to shell out that much for an iphone. i think i'd rather get one from the US and have it unlocked :p

Hold on a tick, I forgot to take sales tax into account. It is 13% in New Brunswick, so that amount to $1446. Why is sales tax not included in the price in Canada, that sure is annoying. That and the semi mandatory tipping system.

COME ON ROGERS!!

Let us know the pricing for the iPhone. Why is it such a secret?? By now, they must know how much they are going to charge!

Cheers.
:):apple:

The longer they wait, the more it makes me think that the iphone plans will be the same as the recently announced BB plans. 300 MB for $30 compared to AT&T unlimited for $30.

The less time between Rogers' announcement and July 11, the less time for the inevitable backlash to the overpriced plans.

i would expect that average price for a cell phone ranges from $25-40. $50 is still pretty steep for a voice plan.

i'm paying $25 a month for my plan and it's always been suitable for what i needed. i wish rogers would make something affordable for us iphone wannabes!

$50 per month is what I pay for my phone now, and is pretty much the average price people pay for cell phones across Canada. I would be overjoyed if I could pay the same for an iPhone! Seriously, how cheap do you expect it to be? If you add ANYTHING up for over 3 years, it will sound expensive. Perhaps you should add up the difference between your current plan and the iPhone plan, because you'd be paying your current plan anyways. I'm fully expecting Rogers to charge around $100 per month WITHOUT unlimited data.

Is that *really* $25 a month? Or is it $25 a month, plus a "system access fee", plus such-and-such for voicemail, and a little more for caller ID, plus network 911 fee, plus provincial regulatory 911 fee, plus taxes...

My plan is advertised for $25 a month too.
After all the nickel and diming, I'm actually shelling out more like $47 a month. I never go over my minutes, I can count the number of times I've sent a text message on one hand, and most months I don't place any long distance calls.

Exactly. I'm on the "$25 Plan" but I pay $50 per month once all the hidden fees are added in, and on average Canadians pay $60 per month total.

the iPhone isnt coming to canada! its lies

at this point I wouldn't even be surprised.

***** iPhone....why do you torment me....?

look,

the plan is gonna suck.

We are going to have to take out a loan to pay for this thing. You know it, I know know it, Ted knows it...

I think it's gonna be around $90 to $120 a month to use this thing.

NO WAY they are going to give us 'unlimited' date plans....

sorry for being a downer, I just have no faith in the Canadian Wireless industry. It's a racket.

The Rogers website has been down for DAYS!! I mean, they're probably planning on the best way to screw us all.

"they want the iPhone so bad, and Apple wants us to sell if for only $299..let's gouge them as best we can...."

it's gonna be ugly...the only question is how bad......

The Rogers website isn't down, just laggy. The plans won't be that bad and their will be some form of "unlimited" plan...just expect a lot of small print to go with it.

The Rogers store where I am on a waiting list called me yesterday and left a message. The rep said they had just a bit more information, so they were calling everyone on the list to tell them.

He said that they will have their stock of iPhones in time for opening at 8:00 a.m. on July 11. They "will not be holding phones for the people on the waiting list anymore, due to a recent deal with Apple." However, they are assuring us that they will have "a good supply in, so there shouldn't be any shortages." Also, he said that as soon as the new pricing plans are in, they will call everyone on the waiting list again and let them know the details.

That is all. :)

I'm still considering going right when the store opens, if not because of supply, then because I'm sure there will be a serious wait to get the phones activated.

What is 'activation'? Is that sticking the sim card into the phone? or changing your price plan?

I find that this seriously inefficient. Before one could just walk into a store, buy the phone and walk out.

You have to sign a contract, and then they activate the phone on the plan you have purchased, before you can leave the store with your phone. This is the deal they made with Apple in order to prevent people from buying the phones to resell.

Whether or not you have to change your price plan depends on whether one of the new iPhone plans is the one you already have. Indications are, it won't be.

you know what i was just wondering? teh iphone coming to canada will most likely be loaded with 2.0 firmware, so what about all of us that have unlocked ones already with rogers.. will we be able to upgrade to 2.0 and still be able in the rogers network..."legally" or is it gogin to ask us to sign up for data plan right away when we get 2.0 firmware? are we gogint o have to wait for 2.0 to be unlockable? hmmmmm i wonder i wonder..any ideas?

I would think that they would only activate a 3G phone.

also, these things are supposed to be on shelves in two weeks!
how have they not released the plans yet.....

arrrgghh

If anyone can screw this up, Rogers can.
I hope Apple Legal got the better of Rogers and keeps a tight leash on them.

If its 30$ unlimited i`m in. Anything else and i`ll be looking for a 1st gen with wifi...
