So, I have been trying for two days to activate. When I click cellular it says ATT loading plan then goes back to Set Up Cellular. When I click on that, I continue to get get Oops something went wrong EDS0241.

I totally feel your frustration, it is completely on AT&T side but being new technology I think they are figuring out how. Do you have WiFi calling feature turned on? If not can you turn that on? Also, do you happen to have a another AT&T SIM card by chance for your iPhone?

Yes, they had me do a few things.

First, they had me turn on WiFi calling. Then, under the same settings, had me complete the Emergency Address field. Finally, they had me turn on "Calls on Other Devices"

Ultimately, however, it was the antiquated plan I was on. For $3 more a month they switched me to a plan with 10GB rollover data (as opposed to 6GB) and THAT enabled me to connect my watch to AT&T

for me that plan change would cost an additional $40 mo not $3. if this turns out my only answer the LTE goes back and I restrap my S0.
meanwhile 24 hrs has passed. no email with new number to sync.

i will call att today (Sunday) bc Monday starts bs anew with new aw deliveries and new attempts at cellular svc.

Why do I get the impression that as long as people have been forced to give up their grandfathered UDP’s, the clusterf#@k associated with the Series 3 LTE is ultimately a win in AT&T’s corporate eyes?

my thoughts exactly! one question, other than the grandfathered plans, shouldn't one later be able to change plans "back"? my example: currently Mobile Share Advantage 3GB.

I gave up the unlimited grandfather plan. It’s going to cost me $10 more per month, but I’ll get a $25 discount off Directv and free HBO. Still have the data cap at 22gb and I also get the hotspot now. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be.

I will never give up my gudp

back on with AT&T CS who is at least not crazed like the poor guy Friday night. Turns out, the email with the 24-hour promise never appears in their system as an order confirmation and the order confirmation number at the bottom of that email doesn't exist. Additionally, the only "added device" is suddenly an iPhone 4. CS says "we know that's not right. Probably just a 'hold place' device for the 'add a device' request" that must be lurking somewhere in AT&T system. Now I'm back on hold and he's off checking for new info "from Apple or from above (AT&T)". I suggested Tech Support and manual entry imei and eid. he recognized that as an option. 20 minutes and counting.

I didn’t need to give up my grandfathered UDP. The corporate store rep was able to manually add a line with the AT&T Wearable Unlimited plan to my account in about 10 minutes yesterday. I set up NumberSync later in the evening and made a phone call with my phone turned off just to confirm it works.

UPDATE: 1 hour, 9 minutes: to sum up and recommend MICHAEL OF AT&T CS for promotion--through this time, Michael kepy in touch with his supervisor, confirmed everything DAVE HERE told us, went through the manual entry of IMEI and EID, added the wearable plan for the $10mo to my existing Mobile Share Advantage Plan (which was $40 for 3GB), rebooted AW which then picked up the AT&T plan in place, went through NumberSync on phone in watch app, confirmed the control ctr WHITE LTE ANTENNA now worked on AW--which he said confirms the AW is working THROUGH either home wifi or the iPhone-- and Michael said I needed to get away from the house to test the GREEN LTE ANTENNA which should be in place before the AW works AWAY from home and iPhone.

SO MICHAEL WAITED ON THE LINE WHILE I WALKED OUTSIDE AND DOWN THE STREET TO VERIFY I WOULD GET A GREEN ANTENNA ICON !!!!!!!!:):):):)
I returned to confirm that to him and he politely thanked me for letting him " learn on me " today. To me he said, "Your patience has helped the next 100 people who call me (Michael) today."

Probably helped that MICHAEL JUST GOT BACK FROM TWO DAYS OFF!

So here’s a question from my inner curmudgeon.

Establishing the initial setup requires intervention from a CS rep and a visit to a webpage I presume.

But after the initial setup it appears possible to turn off the subscription from the watch.

Would it be possible to keep it turned off until if/when you need it? That is, can the data plan be restablished on an ad hoc basis solely from the watch itself?

This is great information especially for those who might be receiving the Watch soon. Thanks for doing this and congrats!

Upon attempting to activate cellular on my Apple Watch series 3 SS, I got all the way to the point after agreeing to the terms and cost of adding the device. Upon clicking continue, I received an error stating that I needed to make a payment to my AT&T account In order to continue with activation. I knew I didn’t have a balance but I checked anyway. Upon checking my account, I had no balance due with AT&T.

When I contacted AT&T regarding the issue the rep stated that the issue has nothing to do with payments. She stated that they weren’t prepared for any Apple Watch activations and that they weren’t even supposed to be activiating them until Monday. She flat out blamed Apple and said that Apple had “told them it customers would be receiving new watches on Monday, not Friday”. She then said that that AT&T wouldn’t be processing any activations for Apple Watch until Monday and that I should expect a call back from them sometime over the weekend, but it would take around 48 hours to activate, starting Monday. The rep took the device information and told me she would pass the information to the senior rep who was handling the issue.

So according to the rep I spoke with, I’m supposed to wait until Wednesday morning and someone would contact me at which point I’d need to reset my Apple Watch and re-pair and attempt to activate again.

Since my conversation, I have attempted to activate my Apple Watch manually on AT&T’s website and it stated that the device was already active. I have also attempted to reset my watch and re-pair it. When attempting to activate cellular it now just says “Oops, something’s not right. Please have your account administrator contact us.” I also attempted to activate my wife’s Apple Watch with the exact same results.

I made mention of my frustrations on twitter and AT&T contacted me via DM. They said they would address the issue and asked me for further information. After providing the information they said they were going to do something about it and someone would contact me. Then they just stopped responding. I have sent several DM’s back with no response.

Regardless of who’s at fault here, I think the way AT&T is handling this is absurd.

Finally got it fixed!

Here was the problem...

I was on AT&T Mobile Share Value plan. They had to upgrade me (only $3 more) to the Mobile Share Advantage plan.

At THAT point I was able to connect my watch to cellular.

I have to say, this was a cluster-F from both Apple and AT&T!

I’m on Mobile Share Value and was able to get my Watch on LTE. So...

Also, the iPhone 5 that was peculiarly showing up on my account has since changed to say Apple Watch Series 3 42mm. Yay!

Also AT&T are talking nonsense. You can absolutely activate your Apple Watch. Completely unpair your Watch and try to set it up again as new (restore from backup is fine). When it asks you to set up cellular, say yes and see if that works. I was able to do that with mine, despite it telling me on AT&T that it was already an active EID.

That gives me hope that I won't lose my 40 GB/month plan for 25 GB/month. Although I only average around 20 GB/month, I do have occasional months where I exceed 40 GB (covered by rollover data). Not sure what other "advantages" the Advantage plan has.

Your best bet is to activate through the Watch app on your phone. If you get the “AT&T Doesn’t support wearables at this time” error message, you need to do the hard start where you hold the power and volume down button simultaneously and restart your watch.

The AT&T site isn’t ready yet.

No idea. All I know is I’m on 30GB Mobile Share Value. My plan + rollover is at 65GB right now, though I’m not sure what the max it could be is.

AT&T have handled this SO poorly. Amazing really...

Not sure in Olán switching BUT try bellow, understood for some user a entire Olán change also have them success but this should not be required that is just one way they seem to be getting their systems provision items properly.

Try to contact AT&T and tell them what you want it added to your account as an individual plan called AT&T Unlimited Wearable plan for $10. If the rep does not know what that Is, kindly suggest asking them to search it in their system, this should be able to be added to any account from the forums I read as a stand-alone not effecting your plan as this is not a normalcellular device it is a wearable. Once added and your device information captured. I then proceeded to power cycle my iPhone so it retrieved features updated in their system and reset my Watch out of pre-caution and in the initial pairing screen the setup cellular option was there as expected versus first time. I think they just don’t know how to manage it in their system since it is such a newdevice if it’s kind requiring specific features to work.

And we have success...finally!!! They in essence had to reactivate my new iPhone plus and did some other magic. Really what helped was having an agent that was curious and kept working through all the error messages. Good luck everyone.

your issue on the pending activation is likely related to a credit issue. I'm not saying you have bad credit but after 7 lines on your account the 8th line always requires a deposit it doesn't matter what your credit history is or on time payment history. At 8 lines AT&T increases the credit risk of account and starts requiring 150 dollar deposits. It can be waived at a corporate retail store. without even looking at your account pretty sure this is what is going on.

Thank you for the tip, but that was not the problem for me.

Update 1
Working now! The original number assigned to my watch on Friday was stuck in the ATT activation queue. The rep yesterday provided the watch number and advised continued waiting. The rep today used my EID (and maybe IMEI) to reassign a new number to the device, basically starting the process over. I was able to go through the activation process from the beginning without issue this time (just like with the other there watches I activated for my family.

Update 2
Upon logging into my account, I noticed the watch was listed at an iPad ($20 vs $10/mo). So I had to make another call... The reps today were actually pretty decent but ATT does suck.

There's a long AT&T activation thread which has some very helpful hints in it.

Yea, I've followed and read most of it. Most people posting on this thread are having issues related to having an incompatible rate plan. I am not having that issue. I already have the advantage share plan.

I know they are and its driving me nuts! I have tried un-pairing my watch several times and setting up as new. When I get to the cellular setup section I get the "Oops, something isn't right." crap. The "bring your own device" section of AT&T's website told me that my IMEI and EID were already active.

I have attempted this several times, as well as resetting the watch and re-pairing. I'm not getting the “AT&T Doesn’t support wearables at this time” error message, I'm getting "Oops, something isn't right."

The answer to your problem lies in the last couple pages the other thread that runs 15 pages.
Your CS person needs to input your imei and eid from your watch, set up and add a wearables plan for your watch to your existing plan and explain through the sync process.

SEE MY EXPERIENCE THIS MORNING! IT WAS MAGICALLY PERFECT!

[doublepost=1506275226][/doublepost]How is it magically perfect that you had to call into customer service and find your EID and IMEI when it should be automatically activated thru the Watch app?

That’s ridiculous.

I’ve tried to setup 2 of them thru the “Setup Cellular” on the app and I’m stuck on the Oops something isn’t right.

Although I did get confirmation emails that I would be activated within 24 hours. It’s been almost 48 now so I don’t think that’s accurate.
