I can't decide either. Ive have had most plus and max phones, latest was 11 pro max, and then I tried to downgrade to 11 pro which I currently have. I like the 11 pro size because it is easier to manage with one hand and more practical in day to day use. But I sometimes miss the better battery and the bigger screen size from the 11 pro max... So for me its 50/50 if I'm going to get the pro or the max 😂

I always go max. Anytime I think about going smaller i pick up my daughters 11 to hold in my hand and type and immediately remember why i Love the Max size. It’s bigger and heavier, but typing, viewing docs and videos for me are better on the Max size iPhones.

Has anyone else pre ordered either the regular pro or the max and they’re now thinking of cancelling it? I’m considering cancelling my pre-order for the iPhone 13 pro max. 1. Because I’m frustrated that Apple decreased the size of the battery’s on the 12 pro max meaning I feel like I need to upgrade just for better battery. And 2. Because as nice as the pro motion display will be I honestly think I can wait another year for it on the iPhone 14 pro max.

I had the same issue when I ordered. I've had the Plus phones previously and then got the iPhone X and loved the smaller size. Since then I've gone with the non-Max models. Since I've had the Plus sizes before, I seriously considered getting the 13 Pro Max -- I'm old enough that the extra screen real estate would be useful (larger fonts). I ultimately went with the 13 Pro, not the Max, largely because I find the normal size more comfortable, both in my hand and (particularly) in my pocket.

Just wish Apple would make use of the extra screen size on the Max phone, and have an option for more icons across the screen, maybe two apps side by side in landscape? Back in the 6s+ days there were extra features on the plus model if I remember correctly. Now it seams that the bigger Phone doesn’t take full advantage of the screen size.
Still with the iPhone X and will take my time to decide if I should upgrade this year, especially as i use an iPad Pro heavily in doors and travel has been greatly reduced.

But then why not wait for the S year and get iPhone 14s or 15, as usually the new year following a redesign irons out all the kinks . I agree though wait as you got a 12,
I got an X and can’t decide if I should wait or not

I canceled my 13 pro pro preoeder and went with the pro max. I love this time of the year when I can change mind daily😁. Main reason is the big battery. I know 13 pro’s battery is an improvement over 12 pro and even on par with 12 pro max, but I want even better battery performance. Also with the camera lenses even been bigger, imho it’ll look somewhat strange on a smaller pro.

I think that's a good bet with the new software upgrade battery will get worse! I have a 12 Pro now it seems to get worse daily tbh...

Same with my 12 pro max. The battery life has gotten much worse. It’s still on 99% battery health, but the battery life isn’t what I’d call good.

I’m honestly thinking of cancelling my pre-order for the iPhone 13 pro max. I’m really frustrated with Apple decreasing the battery capacity on the iPhone 12 series last year, and, not adding pro motion last year. Decreasing the battery capacity on the 12 series is the big issue for me though. The battery life on my iPhone 12 Pro Max is nowhere near as good as my friends 11 pro max, and we both use our phones for pretty much the same things. The battery on his 11 pro max, which he purchased last year is MUCH better than my 12 pro max.

I feel like Apple deliberately cut battery capacity on the 12 series, and deliberately held 120hz pro motion back. When we’re talking about the pro models last year, they both should of had better battery capacity and 120hz pro motion.

So, the more I think about my upgrade to the 13 pro max, it feels forced. I’m only really upgrading for the better battery life and the 120hz pro motion display. And, that really annoys me to be honest.

Im not sure what to do now. I’m definitely making the decision today either way. I’m currently thinking about waiting to see what the Google Pixel 6 pro has to offer. I feel that iOS is genuinely the best mobile OS. I’m just really fed up with Apple holding features back. Anyone paying a £1000/1100+ on a pro model 12 series last year should have had a larger battery and a 120hz pro motion display.

I feel that, by upgrading to the 13 pro max this year I’d be telling apple, that, yeah I’m happy with whatever you release even if you hold features back.

I’m seriously considering either getting a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, or waiting for the Google Pixel 6 pro. I’m that! Frustrated with Apple.

The iPhone 13 pro max definitely looks like a very nice phone, but I feel like this years phone should have been last years phone. I understand that that’s always going to be the case, but there was absolutely no reason at all for Apple to cut the battery capacity on last years iPhones.

I'll get the Pro. The Max would be just too big (not any more pocketable) in a huge/thick, heavy-duty Otterbox case. (And I won't use any iPhone without an Otterbox. They have surely saved several screen / back glasses in the last 9 years for me.)

I keep going back and forth also. I think I may keep my pre-order for the pro and not cancel it.

I don’t want a heavier phone because I like to lie in bed while viewing it and the phone is tilted forward when I hold it in the air to look at it. Anything heavier would be cumbersome and annoying.

Oops, this was supposed to go to the Pro-vs-mini thread! Sorry, all!

The main advantage of the Pro Max to me is mostly the battery life rather than the larger screen size.

Since the 13 Pro is able to match the 12 Pro Max or 11 Pro Max battery life, there's not much reason to get the 13 Pro Max unless you REALLY need the battery life (and you should already know based on your usage).

My wife's 12PM manages anywhere between 10 to 13 hours of screen on time. That is not bad. Well i am really disappointed in my 12 mini, with 6h:16m in airplane mode for the last 2 weeks - just imagine what was happening with 5g on.
5g is a real eater in this devices, which affects the battery life.

Well this is what happens when there is no competition in the market. Android devices are far behind when compared to Apple.
Let me explain, back in the days i was using 4000Mah Xiaomi redmi note 4, which gave me 10 hours everyday(my personal record is 13 hr), so i literally was charging it only once in 2 days. Iphones at that moment? Well only laughable 5-7 hours(maybe 8 at most). I could plug&play hdds, ssds, usb flash drives on the go.
I have had giant 4.7" Samsung Galaxy s3, which was an UFO technology when compared to Iphone 4s. Iphone 5 went live only after 6 months when i already enjoyed my Galaxy S3 for half year.
Nothing like that happening anymore in the Android world, so Apple is feeling loose and can do stuff like you mentioned.

I got your frustration and feel genuinely sorry for it. But never do something against just because of frustration. If you do like some features of S21 or Pixel 6 - by all means go for it. But don't jump on them only because you are frustrated by Apple's move.
Galaxy phones are a huge disappointment nowadays.

My wife has 12PM and it is freaking huge and bulky even naked. Slap a case and screen protector and that thing is a beast which hurts to hold in some positions.
Anyway, Apple is not insisting on yearly upgrades, so we upgraded from 8+ and were happy with 12PM. And this year, probably those who upgrade from X, XS Max will be definitely happy with 13PM.

I’ve used max phones since xs max and been debating on going 13 pro for portability and one handed use. But I feel I will miss the max screen if I switch. What’s everyones thoughts and what are you guys getting?
Pro Max for sure. I would never go back.

I'm coming from the XS Max and with a 6.5 inch display with rounded corners, I do find it a stretch. I've got used to it and I recall plenty of days loving the battery but also days where the size annoyed me.

Recently, I have tried handling the 12 pro max which comes in a boxy design and at 6.7 inches and it just doesn't work for me. I think Apple are doing the right thing by not distinguishing between the two pro's because if this was the end of my cycle and the 12's had launched, I would have begrudgingly got the Max. I realise real world differences are hardly noticeable but when you are paying that price you want the mental peace of having got it all.

13 Pro in Silver for me. Pacific blue last year is I think the greatest colour I have seen on a phone but the silver looks very classy, neutral and just gorgeous. Sort of excited to be moving to 6.1 as well.

I’ve decided to keep my pre-order for the iPhone 13 pro max. I’d end up kicking myself if I switched to Android out of frustration. I prefer iOS. So, the iPhone 13 pro max is the best phone for me this year by a long stretch.

i’ve had every plus/max iterations since the 6 and finally decided to do the 13P this year. I wanted to downsize last year but because of the better camera on the 12PM ended up getting that. It’s a great phone, but it’s honestly too big to handle on a daily basis, doing even the most basic things feels like a task (attribute that to the flat sides).

the 13 pm is heavier and i have a feeling these phones are only going to get bigger.

as someone who upgrades every year, loves apple and is a “techie” - i think the concept of “bigger is better” is so stupid this year / specs are legit the same besides the battery. and screen size is preference. go with what you feel like youlll use most comfortably ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
