I've a 6s and I'm gonna switch for the regular 7. I always think about the plus but isn't the time to go for it yet.
If the next year Apple decide to make bezels smaller, yes, I buy the plus. For now I'll stay with 4'7. But if there's a 5'2 will be perfect.

7 Plus over the 7 Minus

Don't want to be stuck on 750p from 2016-2018 for a $650-$850 phone.

7 Minus is really equal to a Galaxy S7 when most people are opting for the bigger, edge variant. And at least the S7 has Quad HD while the iPhone 7 Minus is stuck with flagship resolution from 2012. Something over 326ppi would be nice, ya know? I see the difference in sharpness in text between 720p v 1080p. The iPhone 7 Minus has embarrassing resolution and sharpness for 2016.

There are more important things than pixel count. For YEARS the iPhone 5 screen was clearer than 1080 AMOLED screens (non uniform sub pixels are nasty).

If you're really concerned about pixels, 1080 is a 'terrible' resolution for a 5.5" phone thats physically bigger than just about any other phone on the market of similar screen size.

I love the minus. Minus size, minus one handed use, minus bandwagon.

Enjoy your plus sized chubby cheeked phone. ;)

once you get used to the larger size it's harder to go smaller, ive tried lol. I don't like toting around a large phone in my pocket but the screen real estate is nice when I use the phone so that balances things out...plus I hate looking at tiny text! videos, internet cruising is a much better experience on larger display

I'm just not a big phone guy. To me, size is the #1 negative of the Plus.

I love big screens, just not in a phone. There isn't anything a Plus can do that a 7 can't, and there isn't anything a Plus can do that an iPad can't do better.

Probably the only legit negative, other than price difference.

Take better photos; longer battery life. Those are pretty substantial to me.

Again, take better photos. Also the + can replace an iPhone and iPad with one device.

Yes, having double the range via optical (not digital) zoom is a huge advantage of the 7+ over the 7. If a subject is right in front of you, the 7+ might not have an advantage. However put them more than a few feet away and that optical zoom is going to guarantee that all other things being equal, every picture taken using the 2x optical zoom on the 7+ is going to look significantly better than the same shot taken with a standard 7.

I'll reserve judgement on the bokeh. I have several professional grade prime lenses from my DSLR that produce mind boggling bokeh, so my standards might be a bit high on that. However, every time I underestimate the cameras on these phones they prove me wrong. I recently framed a 19"x6" panaroma shot on my 6S that turns every head when people walk into our house.

Better photos as in zoom and software bokeh effect?

Yes other than these 2 features they are the same exact camera. I can do without zoom and as far as the bokeh effect it's not even available until later this year and I'm sure they'll be apps to replicate the bokeh effect with iPhone 7. To me it's not a big deal.

Make no mistake, I'd love it if the 7 had a 1080 screen and bigger battery but I won't carry a Plus sized phone to get it.

I got 9 hours of usage (22 hours of time off charger) the other day....so pretty happy there. Always room for improvement, but I won't carry around a battery case or bigger phone.

Nobody who actually 'needs' an iPad can give it up for a Plus.

You're so smart. Thanks.
[doublepost=1474328529][/doublepost]I am reverting to the minus . I have big palms but I found it to be very inconvenient to carry since I always use my pocket to put it.Plus, I have also ordered the watch series 2 but even though , I still love the without + model. Now , the decision matte or jet iPhone 7.

I had the 6 and 6s Plus and went with the 7 Plus again. For me, screen real estate is most important. I have old man eyes. Last year when I was upgrading to the 6s, I thought about the regular, but I compared my 6 Plus to a 6 Regular and the regular just seemed small for me. When I was at the Apple Store setting up my 7, the woman next to me had a regular 7 and I compared both and again the regular 7 just seemed small to me.

I'm debating returning my 7+.

I love the battery life, but the size makes it kinda hard to live with. Add to it the fact that I'm starting a new job that will involve a lot of running around all day and rarely being in an office, and I'm just not sure this is the device for me.

I did and I love going back to the 4.7". I had the 6s plus and while the big screen is nice, the thing was huge and would be an annoyance. I'm active and it got in the way. I've adapted very nicely back to the 4.7" and it feels amazing in the hand. One handed use and portability is something I missed.

I will possibly go back to the bigger screen but only if and when Apple shaves down those bezels.

Love the iPhone 7. But I really like the new camera setup. I might stick with the plus just for it.

If photo thing isnt your life and having one camera only doesnt bother you so much go for the regular 7 it can do the job you need.

As for battery life: just get the Smart Battery Case with your iPhone 7 for those days you're gonna need more battery than the 7 can provide. That way, you can either have a nice small phone or impressive battery life, depending on what you need on that very day.

I, for my part, am really impressed with that setup. With light to medium usage, I easily squeeze two and a half days out of my 7+SBC.

That being said, I'm still tempted to try out the Plus and return my regular 7. That screen is just so fricking gorgeous..!

I've had iPhone 6 sized phone since the 6. I love the thought of more screen real estate and the added features but I'm worried about carrying the phone in my front right pants pocket.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Does your iPhone 6+/6S+ do okay with pocket use? Would love some comments.

Thanks all,
M

I guarantee that you will always look for something better. Go for the plus.

All lets not forget for the first time the Plus version this year is outselling the 4.7 inch 7. That in itself should
tell you something. The 7 plus is the way to go period.

I've downsized from a 6+ to a regular 7. I've got an iPad Pro 9.7 for when I need a bigger screen and also an S7 Edge from work.

If I didn't have the S7 Edge/iPad Pro I might have gone for a +. It all depends on what devices you have and what content you want to consume. I can make do with the shorter battery life of a - when compared to a +, the regular 7 battery isn't too bad either.

Got the 7+, gave it to my wife and got a 7. Way too big for me to slide into inside suit pockets, etc. Screen size is nice. Wife is considering returning it as well as she likes to run with her phone.

Took me no time at all to get used to the 7 Plus over my regular 6s. The main draw this year is definitely the additional camera and extra gig of RAM.

The higher PPI is definitely very noticeable and makes the whole media consumption experience better in every way. I've been consistently able to charge the phone once every two nights as compared to every night for the 6s and that'll definitely mean longer lifespan of the battery as the charging cycle is cut to half. I've been able to use the phone one handedly when required with the help of reachability eventhough my hands ain exactly big.

My wife on the other hand dislikes the phone due to the size, eventhough she carries her phone in a bag etc. she generally dislike using two hands to use the device and finds it heavy as well.
