I'm a little curious about the Arctic case. What exactly does it look like on the phone, and are the injection points a major distraction/negative?

If Arctic owners could post some pics or inform me, that'd be great.

EDIT: Well I guess I'm just lazy, upon backtracking I see the posted pics. Seems like Arctic will only be nice on a white phone, I'm not liking the way it looks on black at all.

So the question now is: Black or Skeleton??

Capsule Rebel - Devil Case

Not the greastest pic, but will try to get a couple better ones tomorrow.
No saggy bottom either :D

the apple pro store is the worst

i ordered on 7/30/08 via echeck. it only took a couple days to clear, but by the time it did, they said it was sold out already and it would be delayed.

then i complained about this and they offered to ship it as soon as they got new stock and throw in a free griffin powerblock. i accepted and waited.

since then, i have seen that the rebel has been seen as "IN STOCK" on their website.

i emailed this past weekend of 8/16/08 to see what the deal was. they said it would be shipped monday via usps priority. usps priority only takes 2-3 business days, and it's thursday and i haven't received it yet.

i informed them i would be leaving my home for a while at the end of this week and it will be a huge shame if i don't get it by THEN.

i've also tried calling their customer service number but it goes straight to a voicemail which is full. the apple pro store is one of the worst i have ever dealt with. i have no idea when i will be getting anything.

I ordered from them and had the same problems. I was really getting annoyed. Same problems getting through on the phone so I finally sent an e-mail. I got my case 2 days later with the Griffin Powerblock which doesn't work the Iphone so I feel that was totally useless. I only paid $17.99 for my white case so I am not complaining. However, I won't be ordering from them again in the future.

I ordered a White case from Apsprostore on 8 Aug when they had “ON ORDER” status. I paid via Paypal and they shipped just after a day. I live in UK and it took 10 days from order to receive. Note, that’s with the default USPS 1st Class Mail International. I was please with the purchase because with the WEB10%OFF discount coupon, the whole thing cost £15.72, which is good price for UK. Also, there was no sagginess bottom.

Yesterday, I changed my iPhone from black to white and now I want the Arctic case. Aproprostore shows “IN STOCK” so again placed my order as above and expect another 10 days wait.

One thing that annoys me is that the discount coupon no longer work as it said it’s a one-time customer. Something to be aware off..

I'm glad I came upon this thread because I've never seen this case before. Are most of you guys ordering from Apsprostore instead of SwitchEasy? how come?

Only if you are ordering outside US. It's also better chance to get the latest batch in hoping there will be no bad fittings, as compare to those earlier batches on sale on the likes of ebay uk for example.

I got my replacement case today and it is perfect. So i decided to experiment on my first case. I found that if I heat it up with a blow dryer then put a rubber band around the top to the bottom and throw it in the freezer it shrinks the case up a bit and now the bottom doesn't sag. It works! Try it out on your original if you got a replacement.

Our cases came on Friday, but we were out of town and didn't get to check them out until Monday night. Arctic for me, Olive for the Mrs. (she wanted something quirky and vaguely environmental-y). Both of us have white 16 gig iPhones.

No sag on either case, which was the first thing I was looking for. Just to be cautious, we inserted our phones top first (rather than bottom first, as indicated in the instructions) so as to prevent any possible stretching. But I don't think it really matters. Installation in general was pretty easy, though my wife did not enjoy putting the screen protector on. It was her first time performing this type of maneuver and she had issues with dust, dog hair, and air bubbles. I suggested we try the foggy bathroom trick, but she was afraid the moisture would hurt her phone. But she tried again with the second included protector and got a satisfactory application.

First impression is that the cases are very sharp. Love how they look on the phones and it makes the phone feel very sturdy (without a huge size increase) and much less fidgety to hold. Volume and hold button operation is easier. I really like the included docking port cover, but I've already misplaced the thing twice during docking. Despite hearing almost everyone say that the case causes the included screen protector to bubble up around the edges, we have not observed this after a couple days of use. I was all ready to order some Power Support shields, but looks like I may not need to.

Will post pictures soon.

I never got a replacement, but I just tried what you suggested and it worked perfectly. I used an actual heatgun though. I would suggest using three elastics along the top and bottom so the bottom will even out instead of a bend at the middle.

Thanks for the tip.

How is the overall quality of this case, soggy bottom aside? I bought the contour fusion case today and really like the feel and style of it. But - the overall quality sucks, it doesn't fit good and there are all kinds of imperfections from the molding process.

I really like the switch easy case but I am nervous to buy something without seeing it in person (why I went with the fusion after reading ilounge reviews:eek:) I really want to order this case. So two questions to those who already own it:

1. Does the case have many defects from the molding process? (ie. bumps, uneven edges, or surfaces etc..)

2. If any one has owned both the contour fusion and the switcheasy rebel how do they compare in thickness/bulk

Thanks in advance

Jer

I bought within the first week of release. My first case had the saggy bottom. Speakeasy has some awesome support as I emailed Zoltan and he had one shipped out the very next day. My current case has no issues with the sagging bottom. Excellent fit.

I think the build quality is really nice. I like that it incorporates the soft shell and a tougher exoskeleton. I feel pretty sure that it could last some good drops. The only problem I have with this case is that the plasticish exoskeleton scratches easier than I would like. It's better than my iPhone getting scratched but I'd still like it to be a bit more scratch resistant.

thanks for the reply. Are their alot of marks from where it was taken out the mold? (the fusion is covered with them and i can't stand it)

The injection points seem to be covered by the exoskeleton. Looks pretty seemless to me.

ooooh man i'm still waiting to get my case

how long did you guys have to wait? I live in Canada... and i ordered the case on Friday.

the bottom doesn't sag. It's not rigid and will move if you mess with it, but it doesn't sag down or anything like that.

Damn. I was ready to buy this case, until I read this. I HATE HATE HATE silicon cases, for this very reason. Any dirt particle will scratch up the bezel worse then if you didn't have a case. I was hoping the material was more solid, and wouldn't move, especially having it's own universal doc piece.

I bought the Incase Slider... Returned it. I didn't like how easily the bottom slides off. Same with the Griffin Elan Form. I'm currently using that, but same as the slider, I don't want the bottom removable.

This looked it might have been perfect for me, until I see how much of the silicon is exposed on the bezel. Ugh...

OK, so wait... I've been trying to read up on this case. Is the "rubber" part of the case a soft silicon, or is it a more solid type material with less give?

It's not silicon. It's hard to explain. But nothing sticks to it. It's smooth. If you don't like silicon, you'll like this case.

I just got my replacement, it's brand new in an unopened box. I will sell it for $20 shipped to the US if anyone is interested, please PM me.

What Happened To Your Screen Protector?

Prety nice. I just ordered mine, but, one question, WHo Put On Your Screen Protecto? They did a pretty bad job doing it. But, all in all, very noce case!!!:):apple:

Happily reporting another satisfied Capsule Rebel (black) case owner. I ended up ordering it based on all the reviews and cool looks. I received it before I even got my phone, that way the first thing I did was put it into the case to prevent any oh... sh*t moments.

Anyway, I really pleased with the case. It fits well, looks good, and doesn't sag at all. I also put on the included screen protector, which looks and feels really nice. It's also cut well (i.e. fits well) with case installed. I did botch the install a little since I got some crap under it in the upper portion of the screen (3 white bubbles). I would definitely recommend it. Here are some pics:

^^^No sag!

I've had this case for about 2 weeks and have had no problems with it. It's great and I'd recommend it to any of my friends. No sagging issues for me either. I also applied the screen protector and have no issues with it bubbling on the edges. I think you just have to be careful to get it lined up on the phone well. If you get it crooked and it goes into the bevel a little the case may push it up. If it's centered there's no issue.

I got 2 capsule rebels for the price of 1 because of this overlooked loophole...

Here's the story: I decided I wanted to order this case a couple weeks ago and at the time i decided on the skeleton color. So i ordered it and did the whole paypal thing and at the end realized that i had left my paypal's default address (which was my old address when i lived with my sister). I quickly email them asking if they could change that address to my new address and they said that they couldn't and that they would just cancel the order and refund me and that i should place another order. I was okay with that because i was on edge about which color to choose anyway. This time i decide on the monstera color and placed my order to the proper address. It turns out that they had refunded me the first order but didn't cancel the shipment so the skeleton case still found its way to my sister's house and my monstera came to mine. Long story short... i ended up with 2 cases for the price of 1.

PS: the teal spine from the monstera case looks sick on the black rubber piece... i'll post pics eventually... and the black rubber i got doesn't sag at the bottom... slightly loose but not really that bad... the monstera bottom is tight so it must be an issue with just the black ones...

Other than the top a little, I think it came out perfect (other than that spot). It was basically some trapped "hairs" under there even though I cleaned it and installed it in a steamy bathroom. I figured I'd leave it there for now till I'm sure I'm keeping the phone. Then I'll install a bodygaurdz skin.

Anyone know of a good headphone adapter thing that works with this case? Most of the 3.5mm cables I use won't fit right unless I cut off the surrounding area off.
