Someone in the UK thread said that they were told last year their 7+ wouldn't arrive on time, and were even given vouchers as compensation, but it ended up turning up for launch anyway. Maybe it's a similar situation here?

I think that's entirely possible. Since we've all heard all sorts of stuff from them, it seems like they're completely clueless. So anything is possible.

I think they just don't know how many are turning up and are giving out different dates
 
I just find it amazing probably one of the largest mobile phone retailers in the UK doesn’t know how many units it’s getting how many contracts they need to fulfil and now many Sim free orders they need to fulfil

I would suggest they know exactly how many units they are receiving and it may just be pure over trading in the hope less people than most don't cancel and they complete the sale later rather than never.
 
From memory I have never known a pre-order to go smoothly no matter which phone or which company produces it specially when it comes to carriers and CPW.
 
Ordered Friday. Pick up from store on Friday 3rd.
Yesterday. On live chat. It’s delayed until the 10th.
Just called customer service. Pick up from store Friday!
No. They haven’t a clue.....

Why do you all bother pre-ordering from CPW when they pull off the same **** every year? And if you are pre-ordering, why do you complain when you know it's the same thing every year?

Don't pre order from CPW or any carrier if you don't want to be disappointed. If you want a guaranteed shipping estimate, order from Apple.

Every year I see people whining about deliveries, when they wilfully order from companies that promise or guarantee dates and then later backtrack or provide misleading information every year.

If you're new, hope you've learnt your lesson. I pre-ordered via Apple this year and I don't have to deal with all this headache anymore!

Because when you get finally let down by Apple one year you will know... you just try to find the next best thing.
I was lucky last year I wasnt at all this year....

Erm, if you actually read half the posts here you’ll see that the reason half of us ordered from CPW was because we missed out on Apple.

But thanks for pointing out the obvious.

only reason i ordered from CPW is because i cocked up my iUP upgrade and apple said they couldn't help me

I did too, but I still ordered from Apple and I am happy with my shipping estimate (2-3 weeks). At least I don't have to constantly message CPW via live chat or Twitter to ask for the latest update and deal with misinformation. I know when exactly my phone will be coming and I can just relax and wait for it to come!

You didn't order from Apple because you got a later shipping estimate and decided to order from CPW because they were promising Nov 3rd delivery, guess what, they lied as they do every year, and you would've been better off ordering from Apple. Sure, you might not have got it on Nov 3rd, but at least you would have a guaranteed shipping date/estimate. It's just a phone - you lacked patience and now you have to deal with this.

Actually I kept my order with Apple and put a second in with CPW as I have nothing to lose.

But thanks again for your great input.
