I think that's a safe bet you can cancel the order without losing out.
I will wait and see if I get a somewhat delivery notification from DPD on Thursday if not I will try my best with JL and if no luck id still at least have one on the 10th from CPW at least

CPW and Currys PC world are sister companies so i would take that date as a hope rather than fact.
Any one chasing up CPW is pretty much wasting their time. The poor advisor answering calls/questions will be in the dark as much as anyone else. Hence all the differing answers they are giving people.

If mine isn't here by the 3rd, i am fairly certain the will also fail to deliver on the 10th so i will be cancelling.

My Apple Store order is 13-20 so I will hold out for the CPW one till the 10. If not here by that stage I will cancel and just wait on my Apple store order.

I have just called CPW again. The lady was very pleasant but admitted to being ‘tortured’ by customers enquiring regarding iPhone X orders! She did suggest store pick-up orders where most likely to be available for the 3rd as shop stock was ‘fluid’ for sim free and contract orders. Delivery orders had slipped to the 10th in most cases she claimed.
Hope this is true, it’s the reason I chose to have delivered to store thinking it might somehow be quicker!

I did the same thing, I ordered it through Apple and when I saw the delivery date @13-20, I ordered another on CPW. This forum, CPW twitter, and Facebook don't fill me with hope.

Well by then the Apple one will have shipped so you wouldn’t be able to cancel until it arrives. Not the end of the world as long as you can afford to have more than one on your card

Ordered on 8:24am. Silver 256GB. Sim Free. Email said expected delivery is Nov 3rd. I haven't contacted CPW yet, will do tomorrow!

Called today. They told me that it's still planned for delivery for Nov 3rd. I don't believe it, but that's what they said.

Also this via Twitter.

Hope you have enough money in your account or balance on your credit card because your CPW refund might take many days to process, so you might not get the money back before Apple charges your card for the delivery.

Luckily I have a five figure limit, for what reason I don’t really know, so it’s a non issue in that respect.

If the iPhone I ordered hasn't arrived in store on the 3rd, but they do have what I ordered in stock, what are the odds of them giving me one of their stock phones and replacing it with mine when it arrives to them?

From the conversation I had with them and the use of the term ‘fluid stock’ I imagine it’s a possibility.

That said.....they could have been spoon feeding me BS just to pacify me!

Is there any disadvantage at all in buying iPhone X from CPW rather than Apple? They all "come" from Apple after all? (Think I just answered my own question!)

What about returns? Same 14 day no questions asked like Apple?

14 days sim free if you buy in store, but you can’t get a refund, only a swap to a different model, and only once.

Buying online you can cancel under distance selling regs anyway

Can’t get a refund? That’s totally out me off. What if, for some reason you don’t like the X and decide it’s not for you? That can’t be right surely?

Unfortunately, I think UK law says you aren’t legally entitled to get a refund if you’ve just changed your mind. Retailers just offer refunds or exchanges as a goodwill gesture. But I believe it’s different if you ordered online.

the chances are very unlikely. reason being the stores don't have the capability to add the phone onto the same. only the inventory department can add the phone which would be when they "pick" your phone in the warehouse.

when they say "fluid stock" i'm taking that to mean the phones held in store can be sold as any of the options such as sim free or contract.

if you buy in store

if you buy online or over the phone you can return for a full refund within 14 days

Just a note to everyone who has been told 3rd November, on the CPW system, it will give a fulfilment date for any orders due to be shipped. The communication has come from Apple and has been communicated to the staff via email. If the staff were unaware of this mail and purely checked the system when you contacted them, they will have just given you the date off the system and not the revised date of 10th.
