Well... you are using the Cadillac version of Mylink 2, so you should be compatible (in theory). But you might want to check and see if you are up to date on your radio firmware.
It had been updated last October to the latest available at the time. But, to be honest, I don't know how to check my car's software against what would be the latest other than a dealer visit and my dealer... I'd rather not. They are shady AF.

But the HMI version on my ATS is 16.3V009_R1_My17

Do you know how to reference this to whats available somehow?

@MrMister111 Have you tried your unit in a different brand vehicle to see what happens? I’m still looking for your update file btw, need to reinstall my software and stuff first.

Thanks, for checking.

I did try a while ago in someone’s Merc and it worked ok yes, was almost angry it did!?!

Still no luck on mine, way it’s worked on mine I’ve never seen the initial start-up screen, just went on iPhone, connected go BT, the.mn see message to connect to CarPlay and the. The cycle of the icon appearing/disappearing and the iPhone showing CarPlay icon on/off happens.

Hey Y'all,

I upped my Carlinkit v2 (USBC) to 8.22 via OTA without issue. Sadly, I cannot report the success that @2018 Denali posted about, as without the delay harness, it doesn't seem to get picked up by my headunit at startup. So, for now, I still use the delay harness. All functions appear to work as well as they did in 8.4, so I don't really see any improvement there. I do have access to that settings dialog, but left everything default.

An oddity however, my CPlay2Air adapter (the resurrected one, currently on 8.4) does not offer the 8.22 update. As a matter of fact, it doesn't offer ANYTHING. When visiting 192.168.50.2, it just presents that animated "spinner", never landing on a page. Doesn't say I have the latest and doesn't offer the "discover a new version...". Super odd. However, it still works on v8.4, flawlessly. Not sure what that is all about, but figured I'd contribute my experience.

Not sure that is worth anything...unless someone else is seeing that behavior as well.
If you have not already, reboot your phone. If that does not work, unpair it from the car, unpair it from the dongle. Do this by forgetting device. Then reboot again and set it up.

Is this OTA firmware or just a daily beta build?

I consider all non OTA updates beta and this is not OTA. That said, there is a fine line in assigning a beta tag to any of their updates. They are all beta in the spirit that they seem to work on fixes for certain anomalies and push them out for us to try. A true "release" would have release notes and they never do.

No new features, just different compatibility updates and bug fixes. If the unit works fine without doing the update, don't fix it! lol

But hopefully one of the next OTA updates brings the new startscreen which comes with one of the last USB Updates.
New one looks even more like CarPlay and not oldschool like the old one yet ;)

If you don't want to deal with the dealerships, you can always do it yourself. A Windows based laptop, ACDelco TDS & a VCX Nano for GM/Opel are all you need to keep all the different parts of your Cadillac up to date.

The same thing for @MrMister111 & any other GM/Opel/Vauxhall/Holden person here.

For those that are nervous about the idea (or those that will try to claim only dealers can do (re)programming), I have been doing this method over the last 5 years with my parents 2006 Pontiac Torrent and 2018 GMC Acadia and my 2011 Cruze.

Disclaimer: Obviously, I recommend only updating vehicle control units that are having issues.

Haha, well I got it on my USB-C Carlinkit. Haven't tried flashing my USB-A version yet.

For the record, the "Connecting to iPhone" screen looks almost identical to before. It's the initial screen before that that looks very different.

Not sure why some folks aren't seeing it.

Edit: I should add that as soon as I plugged the adapter in and started the car I was prompted to set up a new CarPlay connection. I think someone earlier in the thread said they had the same experience. Did those of you seeing the old interface have to do that?

Maybe it's car-specific. For the record my car uses Ford Sync 3.

Yes, look above.

Just done this one, still the old interface

So looking forward to something that looks like it belongs in a modern car. I sort of understand why its a Commadore 64 interface though, it keeps the payload down. I would prefer a slightly larger payload for a slicker interface.

Imagine if an Official Apple dongle came out with an interface like this

But we will still buy it because its guaranteed to work.
I'd set my alarm and pre-order the minute I could. I'd pay $400. You know it would not be hoaky. That said, I am glad we have what we have as there really is no alternative. Best thing to hope for is for Apple to eliminate the lightening port soon.

Why is the best thing? I dont get it.

A bit discouraged by this response from Carlinkit support I got late last night. Especially since the official website does indeed list my year/make/model.

I wouldn't doubt Apple would wait and let this company do all the heavy lifting to get this working, then release something more solid later down the line for a premium 😂

Yeah it's annoying, and that is why I asked about the firmware. It could require a certain version or higher to work on the ATS. Hopefully you aren't in a situation where the vehicle is MY 2016, but has a MY 2015 HMI system in it.

Because if Apple removes the lightening port, there will be no way to connect the phone to wired carplay and many cars with this option will become obsolete. Wired CarPlay is still being offered and wireless is not that prevelant. Apple can't leave car companies and consumers high and dry. So Apple HAS to create a dongle.

That's a good thought, but in reality, Apple does not need this small Chinese company to do heavy lifting. They could develop it in a second. Most of the issues Carlinkit has in development is getting around the proprietary issues with workarounds and clunky connection algorithms to "fool" the car. Apple could blast this thing out.

Anyone who has the new look UI worked out how to remove paired phones?

I’ve managed to get a list up once or twice (not entirely sure how!) but holding on the phone don’t seem to remove it like it would on the old UI.

If it’s like my traverse then if you connect your car to your hone WiFi while at hone you can then go into settings on the infotainment center and check for updates that way and have it update.

Mine is working now too. And I never did build the dongle. Does it work if you wait to plug it in after the car is up and running?

And are you sure it’s on 8.22? Maybe update it via usb to 8.22 to make sure it’s right.
