@2018Denali, think I experienced my first interference crash. Was driving out to an area of mass I don’t usually travel. Got a hard crash and could not get it to reconnect even by unplugging. The WiFi connection for the dongle said “low data mode” and was in yellow Sound familiar? Worked fine after a round of golf. Went home a different way so couldn’t reproduce.

there is a new updates OTA 09.05.1602 today. Size 6.08MB.

So it’s not for everybody respectively for those that have no problems with 2020.08.22?! Or maybe with new startscreen?

Not sure, but mine don’t have the new screen interface.

Still testing on 8.22 thou. Today tested delay media @ 2000 dvd setting for about 30 mins drive twice, there is still stuttering. Next will try the CD setting. But didn’t have too high hope for the stuttering to go off. I will most likely flash back to 8.04 if still persists.
I’m just too OCD On the musics playback.
(Hope Apple come out their version of the wireless CarPlay dongle and that will be great.)

Does anyone have the 8/28 fw? Looks like they took it down. I'm going to see if i can reflash it with the same firmware.

Yes that’s what happens with Radio frequency interference. But this is also an issue with units that come with wireless CarPlay built-in also. I have 3 cars with Alpine ILX-107 with built in wireless carplay and they all do that at a couple spots on my drive from home.

What firmware are you on? On firmware 8-22-20 to 9-3-20 it keeps trying auto connect after a shutdown. It sometimes takes a minute or so once you pass the area.

In manual firmware update 9-4-20 they removed The auto connect feature.

08.27 (the joyeauto firmware) has been near perfect for me over the past week+. I've had no "black screen" incidents, Siri's announcements aren't getting cut off, it properly reconnects if disconnected, and GPS works OK (although it's still using my phone's GPS, not the car's). Plus it has the more attractive interface.

So while I'm a little upset that I can't flash any of the newer Carlinkit updates, if I had to get orphaned on a firmware 08.27 is performing extremely well for me.

I understand that some people stuck on 08.27 are having much less success with it though, so I really think Carlinkit needs to rectify this, since they posted that update to their normal firmware server. People with Carlinkit or Carplay2Air branded devices should be allowed to flash back to the normal Carlinkit firmware branch.

A little more information for those of us stuck in Joyeauto firmware 08.27. I've been talking to your support to get a little more information.

They tell me that their firmware updates and development is independent of Carlinkit . They release updates via OTA approximately every 5 days. You can also update your device via USB but they don't have an accessible repository. If a Joyeauto user wants the file to update the firmware via USB they will send it to them.

I have asked them the latest version they have available for "Joyeauto" and they tell me that 08.27.

It looks like those of us who have installed firmware 08.27 have turned our device into "Joyeauto". Will we enter its cycle of updates via OTA ?. Sure we wait a little we will find out.

Sort of glad mine didn’t take that software now. That said now we know they are likely to be the same device under the skin they need to do a better interface for the car2airplay/Carlinkit units.

We now know they can

My CarPlay2air also have a new firmware information with OTA but i think maybe it’s better not to install because i have no problems till yet with 08.22.
Which problems others have with 08.22 here?

So the manual 0409 build wasnt so great as it kept giving me connection errors. Rolled back to the 0209 build and all good again.

i used OTA Rollback to 8/4 in Palisade. While 8/22 ota worked well over all it would reboot itself 1-2 times a trip which is problematic.

Well, I was all jazzed to order this for my Kenwood Excelon CarPlay unit until I read this thread. I’m reconsidering.

In general this thread & threads on vehicle specific forums are not relevant to your intended use. Aftermarket headunits from Pioneer, Kenwood & Alpine are a more generic implementation than factory installed headunits and as such a lot easier for the developers to work with. I don't recall any posts regarding kenwoods/alpines, just 4 people using Pioneers, which for the most part have been fairly issue free - only having trouble with a random blank screen at boot and potential trouble with steering wheel track forward/reverse controls.

Obviously you could run into issues with updating the devices but that is not caused by what is installed in your vehicle.

If you are still planning to order it, get it from Amazon so you can return or exchange it easily in the event of serious issues though.

Anyone who has the new look UI worked out how to remove paired phones?

I’ve managed to get a list up once or twice (not entirely sure how!) but holding on the phone don’t seem to remove it like it would on the old UI.

I thought I figured it out, but no luck still.

I picked up a new Toyota Corolla Hybrid on Friday and from what I can tell, the niggles on my Pioneer (black screen and track skipping) have all gone away.

I am stuck on 8.28 though and and OTA says it's still the latest update. Am I right from above though that some people are being offered a new one, even though it's essentially a downgrade the 8.04?

You clearly didn’t read enough if thats all you got . For many (me) it works almost perfectly. Most posters where it works well aren’t geeks like me, they just move on if it works well or they never have a need to post.

If you really were all that jazzed up, I would have thought you would have at least tried it and returned it if not to your liking. Buy through Amazon.
