Maybe an opportunity to try iOS14? It's on beta 8 and rock solid. Close to GM. Can't tell you how much better CarPlay works with our dongles on IOS14.
that’s encouraging. I believe iOS 14 GM is being released next week. Thanks LarryJoe33

Hi,
I sent my CARPLAY2air back in after it got bricked. Took over a month, just tried it again in my 2019 Silverado GM My Link 3, it still doesn't work. Plus no update for it either, tried that in my son's 2016 Silverado works great. I've tried everything on here that was posted. It won't connect manually either. Maybe I missed something, so if anybody has more to try, please let me know?
Thanks, Jerry

Just sent them an email asking for a full refund. They said since I already got a replacement, there is no refund now. WTF....I'm stuck with a unit that doesn't work in my truck with no refund available. Talk about horrible customer service. Please do NOT buy from this company. Going to turn them in to the BBB. I'm sure nothing will happen....one of the worst companies I ever dealt with.
Thanks

I understand your frustration. But have you considered selling your adapter--either here or on eBay? You will likely get close to what you paid for it (or even more, who knows?)

I feel for folks with cars the adapter doesn't work for. If you want to help solve the problem on your vehicle you may want to shoot a video showing exactly what happens--show the adapter plugged in to your car's USB port, then show turning the car on and what the display shows--also which (if any) LEDs on the adapter are lit. Then put it on youtube and send a link to sales@carlinkit.com along with your exact car's make/model/trim level, plus version of your car's software, version of the CP2A firmware, etc.

I can't guarantee that would get it fixed any faster but given the language barrier a video is worth a thousand words...

But if you're fed up and just want to move on, no one's going to fault you there. These adapters are definitely not quite ready for "prime time". But once they work with a given vehicle, they're getting to be quite stable.

Hi Lyons. I have both a 2019 Silverado and a 2020 Colorado in my family. Specifically, both trucks have the MyLink 3"+" (RPO IOS) infotainment system, and both are running the same GM infotainment firmware. While a wired CarPlay launches immediately in both trucks, the new CPLAY2air I received on September 1 does not work in either using the same CarPlay sockets used in the wired connections.

In fact, the MyLink 3+ firmware does not even seem to recognize the CPLAY2air as a CarPlay device. I can see the unit's wifi SSID (MYCHEVROLET5C on the factory firmware, AutoBox-582f on 0804) waiting for the wireless CarPlay bluetooth handshake, but the unit never registers as a CarPlay device, so I never get the setup screens.

I am curious if Skmzatlanta has his ears on (this thread, quote #3791). He has been able to get both 0804 and 0810 working on his 2020 Camaro that is probably running MyLink 3+. Both of our trucks have the GM V807 infotainment software... I would love to know what GM software he is running on his vehicle that can be found by selecting "Settings/System/About" on the infotainment system.

As it is, I have spent two of my Labor Day weekend days and a bunch more time (and burned a bunch of credits with the Missus) trying all the suggestions on the 165 pages on this forum to no avail. Since I could not even get to the setup screens, I was not sure what firmware load it had from the factory, so I did a successful manual upgrade (maybe downgrade) to 0804, but there were no changes at all in the unit's behavior on either truck. The CPLAY2air customer service is hopeless, though evidence on this forum indicates that the Carlink support is better.

At this point, I have decided to keep the unit and keep monitoring this channel to see if the problem eventually gets fixed. In the meantime, GM has announced that they are going to be offering wireless CarPlay on the 2021 Silverado, and I am hoping that I will be able to get a GM firmware update to enable wireless CarPlay on my factory MyLink 3+.

You will need a hardware upgrade to enable it. Your current GM HMI system does not have the necessary components for wireless CarPlay.

just received this from Carplay2air:

“Hi,

Our engineering team has just rolled out a firmware update.

Version: 2020.09.05.1602

Can you please try it.

Turn on your mobile data to check for updates.

1. Connect your phone to the adapter and wait until CarPlay appears on the screen.
2. Enter 192.168.50.2 in your browser and click “Go.”
3. If you see an update available, click it.
4. Wait until the update bar reaches 100%.
5. When CarPlay reappears on the screen, you’re done!

Let me know. Thank you!”

I just tried updating but still shows that I’m up to date with the old rollback version 08.04 ?!?!?

Does anyone see “Version: 2020.09.05.1602“ when they try to update today ?

Just installed my New Carplay2air in my 2015 Ford F-150. I previously replaced my Sync unit from Sync 2 to Sync 3. Opened the box plugged in and setup perfectly. Went for a 30 minute drive with an occasional skip playing music but seems overall good using Waze. Google Maps and Music. Calls we good Siri was good all the standard steering wheel controls work as expected.

I am using an iPhone 11 Pro Max with IOS 14. I have seen reviews indicating delays, in my case I find this over exaggerated. Wired via CarPlay switching to the next song takes .5-1 second. Using wireless CarPlay it takes 1.-1.5 seconds. To me thats not a measurable delay. Regarding boot up delay I believe its reasonable to take 30 seconds to initialize things. Also using Google Maps with the Sat View and everything remains current. I do not have any issues with disconnecting it just works. It’s not 100% perfect but its 98% and anyone expecting perfection using Bluetooth and WiFi to connect from the phone to the dongle is foolish and doesn’t understand tech. Steering Wheel controls work great.I did go to the IP address for the new Update and completed without a hitch. For now this looks like its worth the money.

Exactly same issue with my 2020 Camaro. Saw others with GM radios that had success. Was hoping for faster connection but will not connect at all now! "Connect a compatible apple carplay device" every time after 5 attempts. 08.10 worked well enough.

Thanks shadowmyst1975. I already have $129 in this thing... if I don't get it working, I may have to buy some hardware!

I am having newb issues figuring out how to send PM to Skmzatlanta asking him to respond to my post #4110 above. Could I ask for someone to PM him on my behalf to take a look at the post?

The trouble is, you don't know how many parts of the HMI would have to be upgraded or if the parts would be backwards compatible. It could possibly be that you'll have to switch out your entire system for an aftermarket unit with wireless CarPlay.

Click his name to the left of one of his posts and click the "Start a Conversation" button. That said, this forum may prevent new accounts from PMing. If you can't click "Start a Conversation" maybe make a few more posts or ask about it in the help forum here.

To add I now get the same error "Connect a compatible apple carplay device" when I plug it in using lightning cable! How does that happen?
Hi Skmatlanta. Can you provide the GM infotainment software release of your truck so that we might be able to "catch up" to where you are? See my post above (4110) for additional information regarding MyLink 3 support.

Btw, I have a theory on why some of the more recent loadbuilds are rolling back to 0804. It is possible that the developers have decided to tighten up their release process.

0804 might be what they believe to be is the best "production" load that they have at the moment, and if they can get everybody off of the beta loads and back onto this production load, then they would have a better working baseline to systematically address defects to improve overall loadbuild quality.

If my complete speculation were true, then this would be good news for all of us!

it did pop up in my unit and it was downgraded to 08.04 (was running latest available ota).

Build number on the my 2020 Camaro Mylink3 is W119E-U148.3.4-MIH20A-523 Sept 12,2019
Still running 8.10 with random stutter every 5 mins or so. Happy with it.
OTA update to 9.05 is available but I am leaving well enough alone.

Actually it is Infotainment 3 Plus, not sure if that is the same as MyLink 3.

Neither one are Joyeauto firmware.

If they are..... they will not flash over the previous version atleast.

Shame won’t flash for those of us on the Joyeauto with the clinkit although that said mine seems to work “OK”

Anyone know if they are aware some people are stuck on this firmware wondering if it’s worth contacting them.
