Correct not lower screen so much as lower trim/AV. SE/SEL without Premium drivers package. For 2021 the higher end models Premium/Limited etc get their AV update next time around. Kind of odd since higher should always be better but they did not have update available for "drivers" package yet.

Someone on the Palisade forums suggested that the infotainment engineering mode indicated the presence of a currently unused Wifi device. Perhaps Hyundai will update us to Wireless CarPlay with a software update one day? I haven't been able to get the Engineering mode to work on mine yet, so I can't confirm if it's really there.

Thanks... Did Carlinkit provide that path? We have previously found alternate paths with android/autobox etc firmware in it...

So far the new USB-C based unit has been flawless. Syncs up almost instantly to the Palisade SEL (no drivers package) and has not rebooted itself once. That said so far the drives have been only around four 10 to 20 minutes drives with Apple Music playing and Waze running in track me mode Maps up on screen updating where I am driving but not using directions since I was only driving around town.

Not sure, I got the link from this thread, but hard to figure out who posted it the first time now that we're getting close to 200 pages

LOL yeah i checked that new path appeared in these threads only since the 150s around August I believe. I also thank whoever put up their summary page of August and later. Not willing at this point to flash every step since just trying 9/17 did not take on my older Hard Wired one. Im confident in the process ive used, but that seems too much. If I did I would take the damn laptop to the car instead of running in and out of the house and back.

Yep, i have the same tought on it, its flawless, but i dont want to jinx it.
I drove with it around 10-12 hours, more waze+radio and a little waze+music, and no bugs or glitches. Hope it remains like this. I have the last OTA 08.04. Mazda 3 2020.

Thanks, the URL was missing the mnt portion...

On a different subject all together. Anyone else seeing GPS issues while navigating? Mine was very stable till 14.01 and now it’s all over the place location wise when using navigation.

the MNT path is new so maybe suspect? We all support each other here...

Anyway you did not mention which carlinkit/firmware and which Car/model/AV it is in. GPS issues tend be firmware I have had versions in the past that were unusable until i upgraded. I do say that while not an always fix running same app on carplay and local on phone can lead to havac/issues, probably more with waze then others. I typically close them if i notice issues.

I’ve got the USB-C Carlinkit on 09/17 running in an early 2018 GLA250. It’s been rock solid since I got it early September. I drive on average 2 hours a day city/freeway and since 14.01 the GPS has been acting up. Seems worst when the phone is on the wireless charger which was not an issue previously. Suspect it’s more of an IOS issue that firmware.

edit: iOS device is an iPhone 11 Pro.

Im running 14.01 on 10XR Iphone though I am running 8/4 ota update. Not seen GPS issues yet on either USB-C or Hardwired prior. I do use Anker wireless charger as my trim level SEL Palisade 2020 did not come with wireless charging no issue there. There are other Mercedes owners in this forum. You might want to upload logs to carlinkit and or confirm there no AV updates for Mercedes.

As noted many times until Apple makes their own wireless car play adapter carlinkit's device is a great hack but it is a hack. Unfortunately AV units are highly variable making carlinkit adapter firmware needing updates for not only different AV units/versions and IOS updates.

Good Luck

Thanks anthover. I understand this is not “production” ready. Lol

Going to try wired for a few days to see if it makes a difference. If if does I’ll start testing firmwares prior to 0917 and see if one works better.

I also use an Anker wireless charger in the GLA, don’t thinks that’s the issue.

USB-c model Just went for proper trip/ride with Waze actually providing directions and Apple Music about 10-12 minutes in spontaneous reboot picked up where it left off on both aps. Did have waze running on phone and carplay cause i pre choose destination something try to avoid. Anyway perhaps no different then older usb wired model.

Tried a few more trips. Swapped out Waze for Apple Maps, Google Maps and so far no reboots. Really need waze to work since the only Nav with police alerts. Sigh. Uploaded logs a few times. Ill keep testing. Suppose i could try firmware too. Not much point in keeping the newer USB-C device if it exhibits the same behavior.

On the old Carplay2Air Model the same reboots with Waze and Apple Music

I have a Carplay2air and after many updates I was on 7/29 and they finally got the text notifications working so that no matter what screen I was on when a text came in my tune played and the screen went to the carplay screen.

Foolishly I upgraded as I saw a few bug fixes and thought it would be fine. Hence it is on 8/4

Sadly the notifications stopped working once again and I need to roll back to 7/29.

I followed the instructions using the usb stick but carplay2air doesn't have lights on it so I left it for a good half hour.

I plugged nit back into the car and the 8/04 firmware is still on the device.

Can anyone help me get this back to 7/29 firmware?

I formatted usb to Fat 32 1024 as post 1 suggests.

Thanks in advance

It does have lights--they're just very small--located right next to the USB port you plugged the flash drive into. Try the process again in dim light--maybe that will help you see what LED pattern you get.

Thanks I'm going to grab it and try again with another usb stick as well.

Just recently picked up the CPLAY2Air and it works flawlessly. I also made a video of how easy set up is.

CPlay2Air is absolutely the least recommended option in this thread in terms of “brands” of this unit. Good luck with your 1 year international warranty. The company is simply a rebrander and they sell it at a premium.

To those reading this and I’m the market, Get a Carlinkit USB-C off Amazon Prime. Most people dealing with CPlay2Air post purchase ended up disputing the credit car charge (me).

Knock on wood but I haven’t had any issues yet and it’s been working flawlessly. I appreciate the feedback though.
