Hi,

What about this, the price is quite reasonable ($49,99) but because all the markings are deleted its hard to say what it really is:

I investigated further and found out it is using a fixed dictionary.

I just published PHP scripts to crypt/decrypt .img firmware files allowing people to modify or add any file they want on their Carplay dongle.
WARNING: You can brick it easily, if you want to play it is better to unsolder the flash, backup it so that you don't loose your device too easily.

@fruitbat04: Since you are a .NET dev, feel free to convert it to some simple Windows APP (don't forget I chose GPL 3.0 as a license)

Have you tracked the official OTA releases? I'm trying to narrow down my issue and need a list of only the OTA updates since June? so I can try those to try and fix this.

Cheers
Sorry, I have totally lost track of OTA updates. Contrary to my post, I actually did do a few manual USB stick updates and a few OTA's since posting. I have completely lost track of what was OTA and what was yanked from the Russian Roulette Wheel File Server.

Great work. I think I'll buy a 25L12835F rather than risk messing up a working one. Has to come from China though :(

No need to buy a new flash, just backup the original one using XGPro (for example - I'm using a TL866II Plus -), to be able to restore it later in case of any problem (restoring a backup from the same unit is working)

OK Thanks - I was just a bit worried about it getting damged.

Your decrypt tool is working great :)

Can you share the launch commands you used for QEMU?

Code:
apt-get install qemu
qemu-arm ./binary

Simple as that (after adding needed ARM libraries)

Hello,
Did you manage to settle? I bought this device, too, but when I connect it nothing happens on my C3.

Hey rasma,

I actually had given up on it, so it was just laying around. But as I revisited the thread yesterday and saw your question I decided to give it another go.
I upgraded the dongle offline as described in the first post with the 2020-09-01 firmware (just a random pick). This seemingly went well.
Then today I had a chance to test it out in the C3, and hey presto! It works like a charm. :)
Set up went according to the manual and everything I tried out worked as expected. Of course it wasn't a thorough test, and I don't know if it will connect without issues the next time I get in the car.

But since the setup worked like a charm I now have high hopes.

So Citroen C3 works now! 👍

EDIT: Btw when I tried to do an OTA upgrade in the car it stated that above firmware was the most recent even though there are newer edition on the download page.

LOL okay thanks anyway, this is bordering on insanity. lol. I am narrowing it down... albeit slowly

it's weird one of my adapters is showing 08-04, and checking OTA it says I am on latest.

8/4 (a re-released version) is the current OTA. The one they trust with the most Car AV systems. They provide links for newer builds in response to support requests and then they pull them down. If you have newer then 8/4 it says its the lastest because its newer then 8/4

hmmm. Bummer!
When I went to the car this morning the dongle was showing a red light only, and my phone didn’t connect.

Whatever I tried there was no reaction from the dongle on the car display. Couldn’t even get it to re-pair.
It was reacting like before the manual upgrade. 😕

So Citroen C3 still not working.

Exactly, I am running 8.22 from a manual flash. No way to downgrade OTA. Fortunately I don't have any issues.

Thanks for the fix on the firmware stuck in August, now I can load any firmware. But I have a problem, my fiat car with the Uconnect 7 on board has the certificate verification on Apple CarPlay that the carlinkit 2.0 box does not have and therefore crashes. Having decompiled the firmware, can you do something to make it 100% compatible with all cars?

Thank you

Is there a way to recover an unresponsive unit? It was working great until I tried to OTA update it. It got to 90%, turned itself off and hasn't turned back on. It's Carlinkit U2W V1 and I'm UK based.

I've ordered an EEPROM programmer to back up mine and have a play with the firmware. If you can't recover it and it's definitely a firmware issue, you can post it to me and I'll see if I can recover from my backup.

Wow! That's really generous. Thank you. I'm UK based (Scotland), where are you?

Thanks anthover. I understand this is not “production” ready. Lol

Going to try wired for a few days to see if it makes a difference. If if does I’ll start testing firmwares prior to 0917 and see if one works better.

I also use an Anker wireless charger in the GLA, don’t thinks that’s the issue.
I made similar experience now with 0917. You were able to downgrade to a proper version?
