I have been following this thread for a long time now. I'm having issues with my Carlinkit (USB-C) and Skoda Scala. I just got an email that an OTA update was ready and it was: 2020.12.10.1057 is currently installed on the dongle. As I have fixed one of my issues, I wanted to share this with you.

I had two problems:
1. Connection issues. Sometimes I was lucky and it connected. Most of the time, it did not connect at all. Red light turns on, infotainment can see the dongle, red light turns off again and infotainment says connection failed. This cycle repeated over and over.
2. No mic. During a call, using Siri or using speech for Google Maps, it won't hear me.

After this update, the first issue is solved! :D They made an option called "Startup delay" which by default is set to 0. I have set it to 5 seconds and it works like a charm. The mic issue remains, which is unfortunate. I'm still in contact with Carlinkit.
I have similar issue with the mic, I can actually call out Siri by saying “hey Siri” and then as long as the new iOS 14 “orange light” indicator is on (which show u some app is using ur mic) then Siri can’t hear me ( the mic is not working while the Orange light is ON).
Have u try call out Siri? Are u also running iOS 14?

As a reference point ... Carlinkit 2.0 (U2W-Plus) has been working with my 2020 Subaru Outback right out of the box (wan't sure what firmware it came with). It continues to work well after I updated to 2020.11.10.2137 today. Am paired with a iPhone 12 Pro.
Mine is the cplay2air on that same update

How did you sign up to get an email when updates come out?

I think that Hey Siri is trickered by the mic of your phone, not by your car. I have a company phone and they disabled Hey Siri under lockscreen. For me, Hey Siri does not work in the car. I am running iOS 14.

I did not sign up for email updates. I was in contact with sales@carlinkit.com regarding the issues I mentioned in my post. They replied me that an OTA update was made available and I should try an option "Background Mode". That did not solve the mic issue however.

Interesting... I just checked for the OTA update, and my unit is still telling me the 2020.11.10 software is the latest.

I have a strange problem. If I update past firmware 08.04.2020, if I use Siri, it crashes carplay and disconnects. Has anyone else had this problem and/or is there a known fix for it?

Version 08.04.2020 seems to work with Siri no problems.

Car: Ford Explorer 2020 with Sync 3
Device: Carlinkit 2.0
Phone: iPhone X
iOS: 14.3

This is the link to the firmware 2020.12.10.1057

The settings options have become more extensive. Unfortunately, there is no more detailed information about it. I will test it more closely on my Alpine head unit.

I just received a CPLAY2air which fails to respond on my 2018 Subaru Impreza with a Harmon Karden head unit. I have sent 3 different emails to CPLAY2air through their web site and I have not received any responses. Extremely poor customer response. Is there anyway to find out what firmware is installed in the device if there is no response from the Subaru head unit?

I have the Harmon hardon head unit in my 2020 Subaru WRX. The only way I have been able to get to see the version is by connecting to another vehicle that it works on, then checking the version because it doesn’t work at all in my car.

Today's firmware that was posted above works on my 2020 WRX FWIW. The 11-10 firmware did not.

And you are using the Cplay2air adapter?
Sure am, I waited a year for the email from them saying it was supported, ordered the moment I got that email and received it yesterday. It didn't work, so I updated to the 11/10, still didn't work. Then this morning I saw the firmware posted just above and flashed that, worked right away.

The initial screens are not in english, but you can just connect to the bluetooth name that shows and it'll connect and work. You can also tap the globe to change to english I believe.

Awesome, can’t wait to try it on mine

I plugged the flash drive with the update into the adapter and then into the wall and nothing flashed, just a solid read light, did I do something wrong?

Nope I didn’t, that fixed it! And it now works with my 2020 Subaru WRX. Thank you all for your help.
I downloaded the update, renamed it and plugged a flash drive with it into the CPLAY2air. Then I plugged the CPLAY2air into a 18W USB adapter. The red LED came on steady and stayed there for over a minute. I then unplugged the USB flash drive and plugged it back into the CPLAY2air again. The LEDs then started to alternate and the upgrade was successful. I now have wireless CarPlay in my 2018 Subaru Impreza. Thanks for your help

Installed custom firmware made by Ludwig, works perfectly on my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek Limited.
The original firmware that came with my CPLAY2air doesnt work (might because I hadnt updated my head unit).
Will try the latest 12-10 firmware soon.

Just wanted to be the guy with the 5000th post.

Also, I ordered the new JoyeAuto WJUC-1 Model from aliexpress today, I'll report back when I get it how it compares to the Carlinkit version.
