no issues with reboot on mine with newest fw usb-c version. the waze and music are OK finally but it boots to black screen 90% of the time. i have to go the menu and choose apple carplay manually. C-Class 2019. it does connect quicker so in general i think this is an improvement :)

Anyone with a Mazda, would you be able to post your Mazda firmware version, and I will try any that aren’t listed.
V70.00.352B EU

I sent my adapter to China today for replacement. According to support, only a hardware defect is possible. But when I see that several users have the 30 seconds problem, I do not believe in a success for the new adapter.

Hi!!
For those among you with a Mazda, and the every 25-35 s reboot issues, I got this firmware from CarPlay2air customer support that seems to fix the issue. I got mine running (I’ve tried only once) for 40 minutes.

Instructions:
1.Please download the firmware update file

3.Plug the flash drive into the CPLAY2air adapter.

4.Plug CPLAY2air to USB power charger/wall charger for your iPhone. Please don’t use the USB port of the car or computer!!

5.Please wait 2-3 minutes, until the red LED and the blue LED will light up at the same time.

6.Please unplug the adapter from the USB charger and remove the USB flash drive from the adapter.

7.Please now plug the product into the USB port of the car.

8.Please wait until the new window will appear on the vehicle's screen.

9.Connect your phone the to the WIFI SSID network which is shown on the screen.

10.Once connected, use the camera app to scan QR code on the screen or input 192.168.50.2 on your phone browser.

Why doesn't Carpla2air support tell me that? I sent the adapter back to China today for replacement. I could have saved the money for the postage if the update really works... Very annoying! :-(

So, just an update. I rolled my Mazda Firmware back to 70.00.100 today and tried the Carlinkit dongle. Unfortunately it’s still rebooting after about 30 seconds.

@Josumart Thanks for the firmware link. I tried that as well, but unfortunately no change for me.

In case I messed up the update, would you be able to confirm the version number you see on the connecting screen, or the version listed when accessing 192.168.50.2? Mine is showing 2020.11.10.2137 and saying it’s up to date. On the bottom right of the connecting screen it’s 00b0d900d0caCMP. Maybe also the fw version of your Mazda connect?

Holy crap. After reading the last 8 pages of what may as well be Greek to me, I’m going to assume I need not buy Cplay2air. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. ☹️ i am wayyyy basic when it comes to tech and was hoping to find a wireless option for CarPlay to my Apple.

MacRumors has been my go to for all my inquiries over the years. Thank you all for your efforts, and communications, I think I’ll hold out for something more reliable.

God forbid Apple doesn’t just release a product to fix it already.

Hello Everyone!

Has anyone has success using the CPlay2air on Alpine aftermarket head unit? I have a Alpine iLX-259 and has not been able to get the CPlay2air working just yet. The Carplay2air was purchased Nov 28th and arrived Dec 6th.

I have tried to rollback a few firmware such as 01.22, 03.06, 08.04, with these firmwares I am able to get to the dongle’s setup interface on the headunit but cannot detect any Bluetooth nor wifi. On the dongle setup interface it say use Bluetooth connect “...” or connect with USB. It seems there is no name for the Bluetooth, and connect with USB does not do anything🤷🏻‍♂️ (See attachment)

I have also tried 10.28 and it does not get to the dongle setup interface page, but can see the “Autobox-528f” wifi. Connected to the “Autobox-528f” wifi and go to 192.168.50.2 I can update to 11.10, but 11.10 will keep rebooting my Alpine😅

Thanks in Advance🙏🏼🙏🏼

Yes, I've been using the dongle for a year first with Alpine iLX-702D and now with iLX-F903D and has always worked more or less fine. "Autobox-528F" wifi should not show up. Try deleting autobox-wifi on iPhone and reconnecting. For me the firmware 2020.11.10 is the best for Alpine.

Good to know it works on some Alpine, my iLX-F259 is a lowest grade within the halo 9 range which has less features, simpler User Interface, etc... I hope this is not the reason why it doesn't work on mine.

I have tried the 2020.11.10.2137 (upgrade via OTA) and it just keep rebooting my Alpine Head-unit and cannot gets into the setup interface page. Not sure why

@WPoly what Bluetooth's name show up on your Bluetooth connection screen on the Alpine? Do you have to delete the Alpine wired Carplay setting on the iphone?

Many Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Just got some update on my side, I tried OTA update to 2020.11.10 (and it does not work), and then I used OTA to roll back to 2020.08.04 and now I am able to detect the BLUETOOTH and connect to it. The only issue I have is that the Microphone does seems to be Semi-working, I am able to call out Siri, but Siri cannot listen to my voice once it is being called out.

I also see others experiencing the Siri/Microphone issue, not sure if anyone have a solution of it?

Many Thanks!

Great news: MBUX is now supported!!!
I've received a mail from Carl2Play.
CPLAY2air adapter which now supports these brands that we personally tested:
  • Land Rover;
  • Jaguar;
  • Nissan;
  • Honda, including Accord and others;
  • Mercedes-Benz the newest MBUX 2020 system with USB-C (requires additional adapter from USB-A to USB-C);
  • Audi 2020;
  • If you have a USB-C system, it requires an additional adapter from USB-A to USB-C.

I've tested and I confirm it works perfectly on MBUX with the latest FW from

hi guys, i've tried to do a manual update via USB drive (formatted to FAT32 and copied the .img file over) but nothing seems to happen when I plug the USB drive in and then plug the CPlay2Air adaptor into my iPhone charger.. all I see is a solid red light and I've left it for a good 30 minutes.

1) Check and see if you have Anti-virus software running on you PC, sometime it might change the file and prevent it from auto-run, after the anti-virus turn off, download the manual update again and copy to the flash drive
2) make sure the name of the file is U2W_Update.img, if it is not, rename it.
3) Try another USB drive (make sure your USB Flash Drive is less than 32GB, I used 8GB Flash-Drive)

Latest firmware is 2020-11-10 though now

Plug it in and try to connect to the WiFi page 192.x etc. It should also confirm the version you have.

On there you should see a settings screen. There is a little reset on top left. Press that to try and delete the BT phone.

Delete the BT connection on your iPhone as well. Unplug and try and setup from scratch.

I was having the same problem trying to install the custom firmware. Not really knowing how to use github, I was right clicking on the U2W_Update.img link and saving as... You have to click that link then on the next page that opens there will be a download button. Maybe that's not your issue, but it's worth a try.

I added images on the repo there is an official rollback release (2020.08.04), then you can flash 2020.10.28

I also created a custom firmware based on this new version (2020.10.28), available here:

(Rollback to 2020.08.04 Custom FW or official before)

hi Mike
are you driving Mercedes
i have connection problems with carplay2air with my mercedes CLA W117

I received an email from Carplay2Air in November that they added support for Nissan 2017+. I have a 2017 Maxima so I was excited and decided to try it out. It was delivered yesterday but I can't even get it to setup at all :(

Every time I plug it in I just get the "Failed to start carplay" message and then it reboots and does the same thing over and over. I've tried removing my phone from the car and everything but I can never get it to boot up correctly. I can't even see a WiFi or Bluetooth connection for it. This is beyond frustrating.
