it's the overall look and feel that bothers me the most -- nothing or just a spinner would be better and more "Apple-like"... I know how to change the text (but it keeps defaulting to Chinese for some reason).
I kept pressing the globe on the startup screen until english showed and it's stayed on english since. The 12/10 Vlud Custom firmware boots fast on my 2019 accord touring and so far no crashes or black screens.
Here's a question for Vlud do I install the 12/10 small root U2W img or the 12/10 U2W image is there an advantage to the small root one?

My CPC200-U2W-PLUS from Amazon arrived today. Plugged into my car (2019 Mercedes A Class with MBUX) and it says “The connected device is not supported”.

Solid red light is on, but isn’t emitting any WiFi or Bluetooth signals.

Any suggestions before I send it back? :(
Never mind! Didn’t realise the WiFi network was called ‘VOLKSWAGEN’. Updated and now works.

this is very frustrating and annoying. I hope they solve it soon because there are many of us with this problem.

anyway i’m in contact directy with carlinkit via whatsapp (+86 181 9841 3811) you could do the same and complain
I want to arrange a group of customers that have 30 sec problem please contact me private.

For those who need a longer/different USB-C cable, I ordered Anker powerline II cable (asin: B07213D35X) and it fits perfectly with my carlinkit v2.

My Dp: I installed official 12/10 firmware at first. My car is accord 2019. In my first drive, I had a black display every 10 minutes, then one reboot in 20 minutes. I'm not using navi app. In my second drive, no black out nor reboot in one hour drive. Navi app is running. But sometimes a break in the music. Let me try my new cable with custom firmware and see how it works.

Updated Carlinkit CPC200-U2W-Plus from official 2020.12.10 to Ludwig-v 's custom 2020.12.10.

Great work by Ludwig-v . No black screen, no rebooting and no audio shattering. Thank you very much for your work.

Ludwog-v Let me know if SmallRootFS Custom Firmware 2020.12.10 can perform better than custom 2020.12.10.

Stock USB A to C cable is replaced by Anker Powerline USB 3.0 A to C Charger Cable.

Tried Ludwig custom firmware and still reboot please give me instruction how to handle 30 seconds device reboot problem in CPLAY2Air 10.12.2020 firmware. Tried previous ones and worse even cannot connect and once connected also MZD reboots.

Anyone with a Skoda Kodiaq from 2019 had success with the Carlinkit v2? MIB 2.5 I think
I have Kodiaq 2020 MIB 2.5. The device works only 1st time after updating the flash. Next time no bluetooth/wifi nets. Need to update flash again and so on. I did a lot of attempts, finally sent it back. I have not tried 2020.12.10 flash.
As I understand @MaddenMan has the same problem on VW with MIB 2.5.

There are similar devices JoyeAuto WJUC-0 and WJUC-1. But I can not find any information about them from real users.

There were some posts about the device a few pages back. As far as we can tell here the JoyeAuto, like the Carplay2Air is just another rebranded Carlinkit (in the case of Joyeauto with a slightly different housing).

Hi all, I stumbled across this great thread as I have a Carlinkit 2.0 (detachable USB-C cable version) and can't get it to work properly with my 2016 Mazda 6. It's good, and bad, to see that others are having the same issues, and that some were resolved with firmware updates.

For me, I'm on the latest firmware on the Carlinkit device, my Mazda connect, and iPhone 12 Pro (non beta software). The issue I have is that Carplay will load fine using the dongle, but disconnects after about 20-30 seconds, rebooting the dongle. This process just continues, with the dongle rebooting, connecting, disconnecting, and rebooting. On a couple of occasions, if I leave it plugged in, it will eventually display a fault of : "Hardware Error: BT" as others have had. Though I don't think it's a BT error as it's passed over to WiFi after initial connection from my understanding.

Rolling back the firmware using the web interface doesn't help.

The same thing happens if I use the lightning cable plugged in to the Carlinkit dongle, and it plugged in to the car. Carplay works fine with the cable directly to the car from the phone.

Really hoping they release a firmware version that is compatible with MZD Connect. They claim compatibility for Mazdas after 2018, but as far as I know, they have the same system.
In All Mazda this product does not work. We need to get together in a group and force them to sit and write a normal code for Mazda

Can we update the original post? The USB update instructions do NOT work on my Carlinkit CPC200-U2W Plus.

If I plug the USB drive into the dongle and then power up the dongle, it will never turn on the flash drive (lights don't flash on the USB stick).

For my model dongle I have to plug it into power FIRST, wait for the red light to turn on, and THEN plug the USB drive into it. Immediately my USB stick lights up. Then the dongle switches from a solid red to a flashing red for about 1 minute and then switches back to a solid red once the update is completed.

I have confirmed that the update is definitely coming through the USB by downgrading to a previous month and then checking the OTA update system and it shows that there is a new update available again, confirming that the USB firmware downgrade did work.

Also an update on 30s reboots. 2020 Toyota Corolla. It used to work perfectly... then I did a factory head unit firmware update a couple months ago and have been having the 30s reboot issue since then. I have tried all of the previous firmwares, including ludvig's custom firmwares as well as the 10mb modified one. I get the 30s reboot with all of them now. So frustrating.

Give me the procedure and I’ll update it yes. I also linked to the official website for instructions as well.

Carlinkit CPC200-U2W Plus USB update instructions:

1) Plug the dongle into wall outlet power FIRST
2) Wait for the red light to turn on
3) THEN plug the USB drive into the dongle
4) The update has initiated once the light switches from a solid red to a flashing red
5) Wait about 1 minute and once the light switches back to a solid red then the update is completed

I'd even say, to be 100% complete:
1) Format a USB drive (format must should be FAT32/Allocation unit size 1024bit or default)
2) Copy the U2W_Update.img onto the root of the USB drive
3) Using a wall charger (iPad/iPhone etc), plug the dongle to it and then put it into a wall outlet power (don't plug USB drive yet)
4) Wait for the red light to turn solid red and then plug the USB drive into the dongle
5) The update has initiated once the dongle light switches from a solid red to alternating flashing red and green
6) Wait until the dongle light switches back to a solid red (about a minute or so), wait a couple of minutes more (to be safe), then the update is completed and you can unplug the dongle from the wall outlet and the USB drive from the dongle.

I haven’t touched mine in the last few months. Have there been any updates that have improved stability with Honda?

I’ve been holding off on that update. I read on toyotanation forums that people experienced the same issue after the latest factory head unit update from Toyota. (My car is a Camry)

the update i did fixed the spotify hang issues and carplay reconnect issues. so updates are definitely doing something positive.

However, best would be a release notes somewhere. why is it impossible to find any useful information about this thing?

Has anyone found a way to change the iPhone connected to the adapter when you have two phones paired, from the car screen?
Or maybe a way to force the current phone to disconnect so you go back to the main menu and then you can select a different phone to auto connect?

the only way I have found to do this, is by enabling Flight Moe onthe current ohone to disconnect CarPaly, but I want a way to do it from the car screen.

This is a must-have feature for those who share a car with a partner and have both phones paired.

CarPlay2air asked me to review their unit. Here is my review “I received an email from CarPlay2air stating they were now compatible with my Subaru. I ordered a CarPlay2air and there was no response at all in my car. I sent 4 emails requesting service help, including all the detail. 4 days later they responded asking me for the detail they already had. In the mean time I found https://forums.macrumors.com/thread....2193978/page-204?post=29460696#post-29460696. That answered all my questions. I was able to flash the CarPlay2air with a software version not yet available on the official website. The device now works correctly, no thanks to the company. Unless you know how to format a flash drive and download new firmware to that flash drive, this device isn’t for you, because you will not get support from the company.”

I usually just pull the cable and plug it back in, then when it tries to auto-connect to the other phone, hit cancel and select your phone.

I don't think there's another solution for this, there's no button on the device after all, and once CarPlay is connected there's no GUI from the adapter either. I suppose the only way this could be done would be if they released a CarPlay app that communicates with their adapter.

my 2019 Honda Accord was rebooting with the 11/10 update. Switched to 12/10 and so far so good...EXCEPT how to change back to English? It's now in Chinese
If you have time, can you please try to open waze and let waze running on the front all the time? I tried both 12/10 official and ludwig, if leave waze on the front, it will crash & black screen every few minutes. But if I leave google map or music on the front, it seems working fine. 2019 Accord. Now I downgraded to ludwig 10/28 and see how it works.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado LT Posting video of my problem. I'm hoping @VLud or @2018 Denali can help.
https://youtu.be/DVW9ZxErbKY

https://youtu.be/zB8IaFuWZCM

Part 1 and Part 2 of video log of my issue - in a nutshell I've read all 202 pages and tried follow the ideas on developer mode, removing all existing connections (wifi, wired CarPlay, bluetooth) on both head unit and iPhone (12 Pro Max iOS 14.3) reset headunit and reset network settings on iPhone. I did finally get the connecting screen from the dongle on the headunit after flashing the dongle to 11.10 firmware from this thread's post 1 and connected to dongle's bluetooth on iPhone and got CarPlay to work for like 5-6 minutes. Then while trying to change tracks with the steering wheel controls CarPlay stopped and haven't been able to get it back. Have used OTA back to 8.04 and OTA up to 11.10. Have also flashed 12.10 and tried various combinations of the settings on the dongle in the 12.10 firmware. I've reset the head unit many times. I've only occasionally gotten the connecting screen on the head unit for a mere second at a time. Once the projection icon turned to a CarPlay icon and stayed there but no CarPlay showed up. I've reset the iPhone and I can still connect to the dongle's wifi and use the reset on the settings page or OTA update check. But I've never seen the dongle's bluetooth connection reappear after resetting the iPhone's bluetooth.
have you tried "Compatible" Sync Mode?
