CarPlay CarPlay adapter to convert to wireless CarPlay?

Same kind of error here on Mercedes with MBUX (with 10/12 LVUd custom FW on latest IOS 14):
after 2-3 boot (sometimes more) with Waze set by default in the Carplay dashboard, Carplay start correctly but after 5-10sec it crashes. I’ve to re-plug the carlinkit.
I will try the same by replacing Waze by Map.

I find the initial load (after long delay) a little long (30-40 sec in total). Not sure if we can improve it.
 
When connected to CarPlay via CPLAY2air it is gone a “Allow CarPlay while locked” setting in Settings app -> General -> CarPlay -> [CarPlay Device name]. When connected with a cable, the setting is available.
This is important for automating when connecting to CarPlay. Without this option, the automation requires confirmation when the screen is locked.
My car is a 2017 Astra K and my phone is an iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 14.3.
See screenshots - INTELL-1D35 connected via adapter, IntelliLink connected via cable.
I disconnected and reconnected:
1. On the iPhone, Setting>CarPlay>My Car>Forget this car.
2. On the IPhone , Settings>WiFi>{WiFi network created by headunit}>Forget This Network
3. On the headunit, go to the settings and delete the iPhone
4. I have paired my devices again.
It doesn't help, I still don't have the option to allow CarPlay when locked. Version 12.10 doesn't fix that either.
Is there any solution to the problem?

Hi, I'm Mazda MX-5 user in Japan, and I have a 30 sec reboot problem too.

I checked this threads. (It is so long history..) It seems some of Mazda user could resolve 30 sec reboot problem, However I believe MX-5 user couldn't resolve the problem yet.



Car : Mazda Roadster (MX-5), 2019 in Japan

Car OS : 70.00.351 JP M

Wireless Adapter : Carlinkit 2.0 (USB-C connector)

iPhone : Xs with iOS 14.3

Trial 1: Factory FW (I supposed it was 2020-11-10) ==> works, but Reboot after 30 sec continuously

Trial 2: FW 2020-12-10 ==>works, but Reboot after 30 sec continuously

Trial 3: FW 2020-11-10 ==>works, but Reboot after 30 sec continuously

Trial 4: FW 2020-08-04 ==> I couldn't connect via Blutooth

(Trial 2, 3, 4 FW are got from https://projects.grabher-industries.com/U2W/ )


Has anyone solved the problem with MX-5 user ?

I appriciate your advice.
 
I am a Sony AX100 user , none of the nov or dec firmware update work on my Carlint v2 usb c , on both firmware it will boot up and led light will lid and broadcast WiFi SSID AutoBox and nothing connect it .

Any suggestions

I also own a 2019 MX-5, in USA. I have the RF model, with car OS 70.00.352. I also have the 30 second reboot issue. Note that some of the newest Mazdas have an entirely new car OS that apparently requires newer and different hardware in the car. Note also that the 2021 MX-5 is supposed to come with standard wireless CarPlay - I have no idea if that new hardware will be available to put in older models.

Hi, Thank you for your information. I understand that this issue is not just for me. I hope that the 2021 hardware will support standard wireless and that the 2019 model will also be able to do so. Anyway, I will continue to watch this threads, and share to threads if I found something.

Have you try 20200804 firmware? My Alpine iLX-259 also have issue with any firmware after Aug.

Exactly same issue with mazda 6 2019 in Spain. Carlinkit told me they know the issue and they are working on it.

My car OS is : 70.00.021 EU N

Just received the MMB (https://www.carplaymmb.com/products/mmb-wireless-apple-carplay-dongle-plus?ref=j4lnq6ddnovi) and installed in a Land Rover. Works beautifully so far... the best interface yet. Clean and very Apple-like. Plus, once setup, it boots right into CarPlay without that ugly connection screen of the CarLinkit firmware. Will try and do a comparison video since now I have 3 different types of dongles.

This one also can do screenmirroring (e.g. play YouTube). The only negative is that the "car manufactures icon" to get back to the infotainment screen is now 2 taps away. however, I setup a shortcut key on my steering wheel that breaks you out of the CarPlay quickly so that isn’t a huge issue versus the interface improvements.

Interesting - does it have any settings on a web browser like the carlinkit? Wondering if this is a polished version of the carlinkit firmware or a completely different product.
 
There is a ton of stuff this device does... haven't had much time to play with it all... between mtgs today, I have gone into the garage to play with it... the interface is perfect in every way... I cannot tell the difference between wired and wireless (so far). However, on my particular vehicle I'm not getting the metadata on all the other screens in the vehicle. I have just emailed them to see if they have plans to fix this (this works in Carlinkit)

By my test, both Google map and Apple map work fine with no reboot issue with 12/10 firmware (I tested for about one week).

30-40 sec initial load is not an issue for me, since I need some time to reverse out my car...

Did you install the Custom FW from LVud?
I did some tests and the problem persists without Waze. I tried different settings from the carlinkit menu (background, start delay) but nothing solve the random issue I have when the Carplay start. On my side Carplay is starting on the Carplay dashboard view.

it should be great if we could see how it performs comparing to carlinkit V2. As for that price you can have 5-6 carlinkit V2, we need good arguments to buy one.

Took my friend's carlinkit adapter and compare it with mine, the look is a lot different! I don't think they are using the same hardware solution (code should be different too...) Play2Air has a type c connector. I have tried to open up the unit...but don't find any screws.... don't want to break it!

Did you turn the Bluetooth & WiFi on on your iPhone?

Checked with my friend he said you should see you car name on the setup screen, if not the unit is not communicating with SYNC3, possibly firmware issue. Have you checked with the seller?

I own a cx 5 mazda of 2019, I also have reboot every 30 seconds. This device is a deception and its website a scam! Greetings from Spain.

Hi mate! this evening i have to do a test with the device and send a feedback to carlinkit to see if they can resolve the problem. It's possible that with the january firmware release they solve the problem. Let's see

Any news?? I am in the return window for mine and also be the 30 sec reboot bug on my 2020 CX-5
