I was also looking for an answer to this please

Install the small rootFS CFW on your CPlay2Air, remove the firmware on the USB Key, put a script on it (U2W.sh) with this in it:

And check the result inside the .txt file created once your USB Key has been plugged and removed after +/- 5s :
Filesystem Size Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 10.0M 9.8M 184.0K 98% /
devtmpfs 60.2M 0 60.2M 0% /dev
tmpfs 60.3M 6.0M 54.3M 10% /tmp
/dev/sda 7.2G 9.8M 7.2G 0% /mnt/UPAN

My Carplay2air never had been upgraded to 11 or 12MB rootFS and when they tried in previous firmwares, a lot of people had their device bricked o_O

If you have less than 1.3MB available (with normal UI) you won't be able to install AUTOKIT UI

I have original CarLinkIt, what’s memory in this please?

Am I still safe to do standard OTA if/when they become available then? Are the developers making sure it’s below this 10Mb to not brick them if OTA?

Thanks

All units have the same flash chip (16MB), just a different partitioning

Ah ok, so I won’t know what mine is unless do above script?

Surely they are not sending out OTA though that are larger than the minimum that they target and bricking....or maybe they are to get new sales!?!

@VLud
It turns out that my CPlay2Air has 12.5 MB of rootFS, so I installed the AUTOKIT UI version. It looks great.
I have one more question, how can I add a new interface language? It's not about changing the language, it's about adding a completely new language.

Hey @VLud -- having a hard time installing this newest one via USB. I've got a properly formatted drive (used it to install other updates in the past) and have renamed the update to the right name, but plugging the USB in doesn't seem to do anything; just a solid red light. Any ideas?

@VLud, thanks for your great work. I saw that latest build is much bigger than previous ones.
Do you have an explanation for that? Are maybe parts of the new UI already included?

You have all extracted images here:

In short:
- Broadcom Wifi drivers while nobody ever saw a Carlinkit with a Broadcom chip instead of the Realtek
- AUTOKIT = 1.5MB UI due to PNG files instead of 250KB "old" UI

Thanks, know and use your GitHub site. :)👍
Understood also the change because of the new UI. OK, no problem so far, own choice.
But this time they added again 1.1 MB for drivers not used or required by the system?
Isn't that stupid as flash size is limited?

Is there any tips other than possible firmware updates for constant sound stutters?

I’ve played with the delay settings but that hasn’t had any effect, and since it also happens when I plug into the device wired I don’t think it’s related to delay anyway.

I assume not.... :(
The issue has to be fixed by updating the head unit or changes in iOS in worst case as there are no setup options available.
I had a similar issue with last interface software, after about 50 min trip the whole head unit restarted.... as far as I think. Then I arrived, switched of the car, started again and after about 5 min again a kind of head unit restart.... so I was disappointed for a moment and than I decided to connect the iPhone by cable and after about 40 min again a reboot of the head unit. It's an Skoda Octavia 2019. So I know Skoda has to fix it and nobody else.
With my GLC I had no issues with recent firmware, especially no reconnects or connection issues which I saw at the beginning.
Which head unit / car do you use?

This may sound like a completely redicilous opinion - but from a hardware perspective the device seems to be incredibly inexpensive... 16 MB of Flash Storage... Believe the WIFI / BT Module is from 2014 - 2015 Era, Correct? The basic Jist here is that if your going off the sum of its parts, this device had to of cost 20-30 dollars or less to manufacturer, but its being sold for $130+ , am i incorrect in thinking that ?

I mean for the cost of two of these Carlink Adapters you can almost buy a brand new Iphone SE

I would just expect at the price point they are positioning themselves at, it would come with either a mid-grade or flagship-esque Chipset for what your trying to do with the thing, where it boots up in 5 seconds and has 1 gig of storage etc
