hello, i've read the thread from page 210 and didn't find solutions for my problem;

my carplay2air adapter is won't connecting to my iphone12pro, it will keep try to connect, it also happens to my wife adapter with her iphone pro max, i already flash to 2021.02.02 firmware via bluetooth because it won't connect at all. it used to work with my iphone 11 pro.

iphone on ios 14.4
my car; mazda 3, my wife; cx-30 (not tested yet on my cx5 because it used to have rebooted every 30s, but i'll try after this)

This what i observe; when to try using iphone 11 pro, bluetooth connected to carplay adapter, then is will connect to wifi "mazda20", but when using iphone 12 pro bluetooth connected but my iphone 12 look like can't find mazda20 wifi

thank you

And funny thing is it now says I have 2021.01.29.0001 Not 2-02. Very strange.

I have not done more then made sure it boots up and runs Apple Car Play so far. Very odd Any one else end up with 1.29?

Also I as others have stated its not just memory sticks that Carlinkit is fussy about for updates its timing. Seems you have to put the carlinkit on power 1st and before the red status light "im booted up" light comes on put the memory stick in and then it will flash red and blue and do the update. If you power it up with stick in it ignores it. It also ignores it if you put the memory stick in after the red light comes on.

For some reason I don’t get any notifications on my Apple Watch when this is in use. Things like Ring and such no longer show up at all (either by popping up or on my watch notification history when I swipe down). Anyone know why? Texts and calls show up on the CarPlay screen, but my watch is useless

Your screen UI is style

you may have “do not disturb while driving” turned on.

Thanks no its something odd with last build... I re-down loaded Feb 2 build from (site below) from one of our kind fellow posters site and now its really Feb 2 aka 2021.02.02.2110

** So far this Fixes the annoying issue where every other time i run Waze I can't get the search button up to enter an address to go to. Note that all the other apps worked fine Apple Maps, Google. Just waze would be partially functional unless I rebooted the carlinkit.

I actually think the installed version (2020.12.25.1731) may be the issue - it's the same version I have, and I can't install via USB either despite trying several USB sticks, formatting and trying different versions of the update. The other problem is that I can't update to the newest version via OTA either because that version is corrupt and isn't the right size. I've resigned myself to waiting until the next version of the OTA update comes out and hope that works.
It's because it's a different adapter!
Looks like there are 2 versions now.
This adapter internally identifies as U2W_AUTOKIT (I unpacked the firmware, it's in etc/box_product_type) instead of U2W, that's why there's no OTA and you can't update via USB. I just received the same device. Externally it's 1:1 with the U2W one.
I bought mine from aliexpress.

Edit:
Looking through update_box.sh, looks like it should be enough to rename U2W_Update.img to U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img for it to pick the update up, but I'm not risking bricking the device if something doesn't work.

Yeah I was thinking that the last 4 digits of the firmware is telling, and the fact that the UI is different, and the OTA “update” (that was the wrong size and didn’t work) also ended with the same digits. I’ve noticed that the broken update no longer gets offered when I connect with my phone now.

What it means is that the firmwares currently available from various sources will probably not work with this device.

Great investigative work though, it explains a lot!

I just got a JoyeAuto MMB (WJUC-1) to replace my carlinkit V1 as the carlinkit never worked correctly in my Audi Q7(always had voice delay when making phone calls). It's only 24 hours old but so far everything seems to be working as expected. Was a little more then the carlinkit but seems well worth it so far!

I can confirm that renaming the update file to U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img FINALY works on the Carlinkit 2.0 plus dongle. In the past i tried several times with U2W_Update.img and it Never worked with several usb drives. Now, after changing the firmware it just accepts the Firmware files renamed to U2W_Update.img.

My dongle just won’t work with my Sony XAV-3005db - it just rebooted my whole Head Unit on the Stock fw it came with. First I updated it to the newest update. 2021-02-19 I think it was. When I plugged it to the USB port of my head unit the led sayed red, blinked for a split second green and then again stayed on red. There is nothing CarPlay related showing up on my head unit.

I’m not sure if those adapters are actually identical internally, so flashing different software may lead to complete brick or non-working device.
I don’t have too much issues with the AUTOKIT firmware my dongle came with, but I have a Citroen. Just a few random sound hiccups and it crashed once. Otherwise it’s working fine so I’m not risking it.

I don't know what happened, but overnight my iPhone 11 Pro running 14.5 beta 2 has seemingly stopped working with the original Carplay2Air device. Attempting to connect to the device via Bluetooth now throws up an error on my iPhone that states something along the lines of "iPhone can no longer connect to (name of device). Press 'Forget Device' to continue." It worked fine yesterday on the drive home. Don't know if Apple issued some sort of OTA update that killed compatibility - worth noting: my iPhone rebooted overnight.

Still works with non iOS 14.5 beta devices, including in iPhone 8 running 14.4, no problem.

Update: turns out the adapter lost all of its settings. Repairing fixed my issue.

Page 211, fw 2021.01.28 for your
issues.
Thank you for your kind help, unfortunately, i've tried fw 2021.01.28 until newest 2021.02.02 but still no luck when i try to connect with my iphone 12pro the car display say "connecting" and my iphone12pro bluetooth say connected to wireless adapter, but after few second will revert to main display, never successfully connected.

I try to contact their support, they say to wait for new firmware, but the said newer facing problem with iphone 12 .

I want to make sure with other poeple who have iphone12 pro and wireless dongle can they connect to dongle , or my iphone is the culprit?

Thank you

I have no issue with my iPhone 12. it has been working fine for about 4 weeks with 01.28 and newer firmware. If you have iPhone paired to your car, unpaired them.

Howdy Folks,

Random question here - but does anyone know if LudWig is gonna update his Customer Firmware for the most recent February OTA Release?

I see the one he did for January but so far hes missing the most recent

Same, iPhone 12 Pro Max, no issues with U2W_AUTOKIT variant.

It’s still very lively here🙂. I lost the forum address for some reasons. We are sorting out relevant feedback. If you have good suggestions, you can leave a message here.
Good to see you're here! The recent firmware updates have been really good - reliability seems much better. I have some suggestions though:

1. UI Style : It would be great if the UI for the phone selection screen was prettier. I have a 1920x720 screen in my car, and it looks a bit ugly - the "Waiting for connecting" message is spelled wrong (should be "Waiting for Connection"), and it doesn't fit properly on the screen - the letters are cropped on the bottom. In English the italic fonts look bad, and the font size of the phone names is too small. Also the green button has bad contrast with the white text.

An update to make the UI more consistent with Apple CarPlay would be much appreciated. You can see the issues on the screenshot below.

FullSizeRender.jpg

2. I share my car with my wife, so we often connect different phones. It would be helpful if the "return to car/vendor" button in CarPlay returned to the Carlinkit phone selection screen first. That way if the carlinkit auto-connects to my wife's phone, I can easily switch over to mine.

3. My car has a proximity key, and the Carlinkit USB port is powered as soon as I approach the car. This gives maybe 30 seconds for Carlinkit to boot and be ready for the head-unit connection. However Carlinkit doesn't seem to start until after the head unit boots. It seems that Carlinkit could boot earlier, to improve connection speed?

My car is a 2020 Hyundai Palisade.

Many thanks!

I purchased a CPLAY2AIR adapter to use with my Sony XAV-AX100 because the company claimed that the product worked with Sony head units. I'm finding that the head unit does not recognize the dongle. I'm not sure if I need to update the software on the dongle itself but I have no idea how I would do that since I can't even get the thing to properly turn on once. My head unit is on the latest version 1.02.09 and I'm pretty sure its never getting another update since this unit came out in 2016.

CPLAY2AIR wants me to pay to ship the thing back to China, which seems absurd. I would have bought another brand but this is the only brand that claimed to support Sony head units.

Does anyone know if there's a way to update the dongle via a USB stick since I can't do it over IP? Thanks.

Thanks for all the firmware update info you guys.
Updated Cplay2Air to the latest firmware and now it all works smooth on my 2021 Range Rover Sport.

Instructions are on the first page.

1) Download the firmware you want (http://projects.grabher-industries.com/U2W/)
2) Format a flashdrive (FAT32, (Allocation size 1024, default value should be fine if you use disk utility))
3) Use a power adapter without any smart features, preferably around 10 Watt (iPad power adapter for example)
4) Depending on the software your Carlinkit has now you'd want to either

Plug in the flashdrive into the Carlinkit, then plug everything together into the power adapter & wall
or
Plug in the Carlinkit into power adapter and wall, wait 1-2min, then plug in the flash drive.

The Carlinkit should blink in different colors while updating, the whole process might take a bit, I'd always leave everything plugged in for about 10 minutes to be safe.

The latest OTA version, or from ludwig's site? What version are you running?

Hi,

I just bricked one of my Carlinkit 2.0 adapters during an update via USB i think.

I did not get the message "updating" like with the other adapter when i tried to update it, so i pulled the usb out. Now its total dead, no red light even when plugged inn to a wallcharger.

Are there any way to ADB load the firmware onto the Carlinkit 2.0, or is it dead for ever?
