Ok, I checked all my files. It turns out I had U2W.sh.txt so I deleted the .txt and it worked :)

Thank you, you guys are genius!

Hi Andiko, I have a Mercedes A-class (W177) with MBUX and a Carlinkit V2.

I have tried many firmwares before I found the one that had been working perfectly for me (for the last month or so). I am using the stock 02.02 firmware you can download here - U2W_Update_2021.02.02.2110.img

The adapter is meant to connect with Usb C to Usb C so you will need to use a C to C cable. The Usb-A is for wired connection to your phone.

Hope this helps :)
Who has the Carlink 2.0 USB-C adapter in use with a Mercedes A-class (W177) or CLA (C118) with MBUX?

If I use it directly from USB-A with the USB-C port of the car nothing happens. If I use it from USB-C with an USB-C adapter directly with the car then I can see the message that Carplay starts and after a few seconds there is a message that Carplay could not start.

In both cases the light from the adapter is permanent in red color. The Carplay adapter works perfect with my Mercedes C-class and has the version from February 2021.

I have the CPlay2Air version with the same problem with Ford Sync 3.4+. I've heard rollback to last August's release, but I haven't tried it. I'm frustrated that so many have this problem but they have not addressed it in months!
I can confirm the august release fixes the problem but you’ll have to deal with an unsightly cursor around selections from time to time and the uglier boot screen. But hey, at least we can use Siri! The updates which broke it are a major safety hazard, IMO @CarlinKit. I don’t need the distraction of touching the screen while driving. Need voice control.

I also upgraded from the 2021.01.28 (which I had tried to upgrade before to the February code). The upgrade appears to have gone fine, and my Mazda is as happy as before. I may stick with this code unless I am tempted by a nicer boot screen :)
I also MAZDA mx-5 user, and updated. 2021-03-06 FW is fine.
I didn’t encountered problem in 2021-02-02. So I‘m not sure what is “Fix disconnect problem on MAZDA”.
So this is just my interest. Does anyone know of problem with the previous version ?

Random disconnect during long drive. If you use Carplay for a hours or more, this will happen.
Hope 2021-03-06 will fix this.

Oh, I see. Thank you very much for your information. I also had random disconnected few times when I connected over 2 or 3 hours. I supposed that was my fault due to my iPhone was in my bag. however it is good news if new fw can resolve this problem.

2021-03-06 OTA update popped up today for me on CarLinkIt v1 dongle. Decided to update although has been working fine.

The update button now shows as a cog so easier to identify. Update log was as above.

Connected again ok after update, but a warning, the web page said “update successful” but on checking dongle LEDs were still pulsing red/blue so still going. This took an extra 2mins at least I’d say, so make sure after web page says it’s done, it’s not, in case switch off car etc. Wait until LEDs stop.

I have a Carlinkit 2.0 USB-C adapter. When I do a connection with a USB-C to USB-C cable there is no power and the light of the adapter is off. When I connect it with a USB-C to USB-A cable and a USB-A/USB-C adapter then the light turns red.

Is that normal that it is not possible to make a direct USB-C to USB-C connection? Or what can be the reason? Thanks!

Suppose depends if the USB in the car you’re plugging it into is the dedicated CarPlay one. Some cars have a specific USB port for CarPlay and another that is just for charging.

What does tour car have? Red LED is normally no connection though, flashing blue on mine is when it’s connected and working.

I have the Carlinkit USB-C version with only one red LED. I tried both USB-C ports of my car and I also tried two ac adapters from Apple and Ugreen. In every case the LED is off.

Can someone of you with the same Carlinkit USB-C can try it? Thanks!

I think I had the same 'problem'.
The interface has a physical USB-C port but it doesn't support the USB-C standard. Therefore using a default USB-C cable doesn't work. That was at least also my finding.
I ordered a special USB-C to USB-C cable from China from Carlinkit for about 15,- € and this one is working OK.
As you mentioned, the original USB-C to USB-A cable works only with a USB-A to USB-C converter. Hope I'm not wrong, if I'm wrong don't hesitate to correct me.... :)

USB-C cable for Interface

by the way they call it 'dongle' and not 'cable' so it could be a kind of cable including a converter...

How very strange, it doesn't seem to show up (I'm in the UK). Normally the price of Carlinkit is around £100, but I have found this one on Amazon for £30 https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product...wc_img_dp_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A27UITWBR2M7ZS

Obviously if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is, but I thought there would be no harm in trying. If it does not work, I can always return it as Amazon are pretty good. It'd due for delivery tomorrow and looks exactly like the CarLinkIt.

This is only for Android Auto - not for native Carplay.

Here's my personalized interface to match my vehicles UI fonts and design language. Thanks to @VLud for making this all possible. I was using the MMB, but given I can customize the U2W based dongles, I'm switching back. I'm using the Car2Play dongle because for some reason, the touch response is better in my vehicle vs the Carlinkit CPC200-U2W Plus. Not sure why the two would perform differently using the exact same firmware.

@Mavro - looks clean! Would you mind sharing your modified ui.tar.gz file and give a quick rundown of the steps you took to push it back to the device?

I have to disagree, bought 2 of these yesterday at £20 each, they arrived today & I can confirm that they are identical to Carlinkit 2 and work perfectly on my MX-5, even allowing an OTA update to the 6th March firmware.
Bargain of the week.

It does specifically state that it is for native CarPlay in the listing. But as I said, only £30 so worth a go, will just return it if it doesn’t work! I have a VW Golf so CarPlay comes as standard, will report back tomorrow. L

As per my post above, I know it will work.

FYI, Mazda owners, I updated my 2019 Mazda 6 with VLud CFW ver 2021.03.06 via USB to my Carlinkit v2. I can confirm that everything works very well so far without random disconnections.

The ver 2021.01.28 works good on Mazda also, but has some random disconnections every 1.5 to 2 hours of use. Always reconnect again, but is annoying.

Thanks @VLud for the 2021.03.06 Custom Firmware.

You may have a faulty dongle I think. I have the same car and same dongle as you. If I connect USB-C to USB-A, nothing happens. If I connect USB-C to USB-C (to the car's carplay port) then it works perfectly with the 02.02 firmware.

Was going to ask if you got yours delivered and if it worked and updated.

Was it this one for £20? Haven’t had chance to try mine yet, was £20 as well though

Is it a CarLinkIt v2 do you think? Notice any difference from your original CarPlay2Air? Faster or anything? Glad it works. Will test mine over weekend.

Thanks

my iphone 12 pro wont connect to carplay2air looks like it didn't find carplay2air wifi, so the bluetooth is connected but my iphone 12 can't connect to carplay2air wifi, i've tried manually connect to carplay2air wifi (i know the wifi name; mazda20 and the wifi pass 12345678) from my iphone 11 pro keychain but still wont work.

what is carplay2air wifi channel? why my iphone 12 pro won't connect it, is there any way to change carplay2air wifi channel? thank you
