Ok, so I'm one of the dummies that upgraded my C2Play to stock 3/6 to see if it finally fixed the Ford Sync 3.4 Siri before I got confirmation here that rolling back to August release does indeed fix it. So now, with this new version I can no longer downgrade (I could with earlier versions). Am I SOL, or is there a way to get the 3/6 firmware off of this thing?

Are you able to flash 3/6 Vlud custom? If so, read back a few pages where the downgrade process is discussed. If you aren't able to flash the custom I think you're currently SOL. I have never personally attempted either of the above so proceed at your own risk!

Did you try the Roll Back option under the gear Icon with other settings?

I was also stuck on 3.6.21 and able to finally rollback using the files from @VLud

I installed the custom FW so I am not sure if the process is the same.

If you want to downgrade please put ARMimg_maker binary & U2W.sh script on your USB Key as well as U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img

In your case, you probably replace U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img with U2W_Update.img.

In short, you need all 3 files on your USB before it will work.

Update,

I was able to roll back from March 2021 (NOT custom) to November 2020 (Not custom) using the settings. I then installed Feb 2021 (not custom)

Keep in mind I have not installed any custom firmware. I am now back at Feb 2021 (not custom).

UPDATE:

When moving from March and rolling back to February, I no longer have option to roll back at all.

I have gone ahead and installed Custom March 2021 and everything appears to be OK.

Was going to ask if you got yours delivered and if it worked and updated.

Was it this one for £20? Haven’t had chance to try mine yet, was £20 as well though

Is it a CarLinkIt v2 do you think? Notice any difference from your original CarPlay2Air? Faster or anything? Glad it works. Will test mine over weekend.

Thanks
It was the one which was £20 before it disappeared. I can't tell you if it's a Carlinkit V2 for sure as I don't have one to compare but I suspect it is. I can't really say it's any different to the CPLAY2air but it might just connect s little quicker. I prefer it because of the replaceable USB cable. It updated OTA without any problems so I suspect the internals are the same.

I did the same as TireGuy6, worked for me in the same way. Now, back in the February-Version, Google Maps navigation doesnˋt work well as before. Anybody else problems with the navigation? Mercedes A-class W176.

Can I ask what are probably a few silly questions please?

What is the difference between the standard and custom firmware and if I have 3-6-21 std firmware can I flash to a 3-6-21 custom and is it any advantage?

I have standard firmware but my start up screen appears to have the red AUTOKIT screen pictured in one of Vluds posts would this be correct?

I have Carlinkit 2 device with official 2021.03.06 firmware. I tried to change the firmware to 2021.03.06 CFW using FAT32 USB flash drive, but got an "Update failed" message right after I inserted the USB drive. Any ideas?

I have the latest custom autokit firmware and have had no luck with the downgrade to original autokit firmware. I get the U2W.txt file and it has the text:

/script/update_box.sh: line 26: /mnt/UPAN/U2W.sh: not found

I'm thinking that the "not found" is why it's not working. I had to use Microsoft Word to create the U2W.sh file, since TextEdit seems to save a whole lot of crap and won't save as a plain text file! I've confirmed that the file only has the text in it that is required for the script.

I've followed the instructions and checked everything multiple times, what's wrong here?

MS Word will definitely mess that up. You must use Text editor I suggest Notepad++ it’s free

I have 19’ W213 didn’t have any issues with Feb but haven’t tested April yet.

Please ignore the dirty screen, but I finally received the £30 dongle off Amazon, and I could swear its just a CarLinkIt, but for some reason, £100 cheaper! Working ok so far, although it took me a moment to realise that it had to connect to Bluetooth and WiFi!
Im curious about the settings though, has anyone figured out what they all do?
Also, silly question, can I ask what Vluds CFW actually does, are there any advantages to keeping it stock?

For normal users, no difference. The CFW allows the running of scripts and a nicer connect screen. Goto the first page and look at what those options mean.

That's great, thanks! I'll go for a drive later to see how it manages, only plugged it in and connected to try it out so far.

Do we know about Frame Rate = 0, if this changes anything?

Nice GTI! Looks like a Mk7.5 Autobahn?

Received the $45 device from Amazon today. Hooked it up to a Mazda CX-5. Initially nothing happened but the "CarPlay failed" message. Connected to the device manually on WiFi and brought up the 192.168.50.2, it indicated that there is a 2021.03.06.1355 for Mazda. Note: My CarLink 2 received the 2021.03.06.1343. Took the OTA update and upon the reboot, established a connection via Bluetooth. Done! Now my CX-5 and 3 each has its own wireless CarPlay.

Has anyone had the issue where the device connected no problem before, but now that I've done a rollback to get to a version that's more compatible (so I hear) with Ford Sync 3.4 the connect screen comes up, I hit search for Bluetooth and it never finds my phone. I've removed and deleted every connection possible and still can't get it to find my phone. Any tips?
