MS Word will definitely mess that up. You must use Text editor I suggest Notepad++ it’s free
Even saving as a plain text file? There’s no metadata that I can see viewing the file in another app.
Unfortunately Notepad++ is not available on Mac, curious to what others are using on Mac to create a plain text file.

TextEdit (at least the one I have on my older Mac) does not have a Plain Text option for saving. It's RTF format adds a whole lot of metadata to the file when I rename it.

Change to Plain text and then open a new file

I have 2 Carkitlink V2 and a 2020 Mercedes A Class and a 2018 Volvo XC90.

The A Class with 02.02 firmware has been working perfectly for over a month now but my Volvo seems to have issues with both the 02.02 firmware and the march firmware.

The dongle works fine most of the time on the Volvo but it occasionally won't connect my Iphone 12 Pro Max (I just stuck on the auto connect screen and won't connect). This happens maybe 2 or 3 times out of 10.

It happened again today and I restarted my phone and it connected after my phone reboot.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue?

I have Carlinkit 2 device with official 2021.03.06 firmware. I tried to change the firmware to 2021.03.06 CFW using FAT32 USB flash drive, but got an "Update failed" message right after I inserted the USB drive. Any ideas?

For this reason:

Carlinkit saw the repo and decided to recompile the binary obfuscating the firmware so I have to reverse it again and that's why you can't downgrade  Taking time to do this instead of fixing known issues 🤐

If you want to downgrade please put ARMimg_maker binary & U2W.sh script on your USB Key as well as U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img

If you flashed original firmware you are ****ed up for the moment.

The CFW is compiled using old "encryption"
Some people report that you can rollback to previous firmware from 192.168.50.2, then you will be able to install it

Next firmwares will probably be using the new "encryption" so everybody will have to upgrade to 2021.03.06 first to get new updates

So after a 2 hour drive, the unit crashed twice, but did reconnect within 10 seconds. Would the custom firmware help this? I saw it changed the CPU settings

This evening I checked for an update of my Carlinkit V2. (Mazda 6)
It told me 2021-03-06 was available, so I started the OTA update.
After finishing The indicator light went off and never came back again.
192.168.50.2 does not react anymore.
I tried the advised actions, but it stays completely dead.
Is there any possibility to bring it back to life?

Did you get the alternating flashing red/green lights for several minutes after the updated showed as completed?

No, on my iPhone it showed progress of download, showed that it updated and gave me a message that it had finished.
After that the red light stopped.

Use TextMate, it’s awesome. Perfect alternative for Mac.

Has anyone tried to change the GUI?

I have managed to do a few things:

-Correct English errors
-Remove Some screen elements like random icons in the bottom left that don’t actually do anything
-remove the bottom horizontal line
- change the red icons to blue icons (Same color as car play)
-change Bluetooth search button to blue

issues I’ve run into:
1) in the all list boxes - home/bt search and settings menu the button is blue on the left and right but the middle where text is has a dark bar on top of it.

I have all 3 png updated to blue (left/middle/right) but some how it’s showing a different color when I highlight an item.

I checked through the source code and found some elements / color codes that reference the red and ive changed to the same blue as the png images but still no luck, I have even tried to comment them out

2) despite removing the bar code png it still shows on the setting screen and there is no way to edit the options in the list in setting in the ui.tar.gz - does anyone know where that is?

3) I have tried to change the background images but it doesn’t seem to like them. The colours come out completely off. I’m just using a simple grey background but it comes out much darker.

I have started a discussion here:

This evening I checked for an update of my Carlinkit V2. (Mazda 6)
It told me 2021-03-06 was available
When I got my CarLink2 last November, I did my first update in the car and the outcome was no light whatsoever. Came to realize that it didn't work with Mazda at the time and CarLink CS asked me to send it back. I kept it and used the USB method to flash the firmware available at the time in the house because at that time the existing firmware caused the 30 second reboot in the car. The USB update method got my CarLink2 back to life.
USB method instructions are available in the first post. The first known Mazda working firmware is 2021.1.28, and the latest working version is 2021.03.06. Good luck.

Whats the difference between the dongles that needs the .img "U2W_AUTOKIT_Update.img" and "U2W_Update.img"? Both labeled Carlinkit, but something tells me one is a replica?

I got mine beginning of February and I updated it to 2021.1.28 with success.
However, when I did the OTA upgrade to 2021.3.6, it bricked my unit and I look for a solution to resurrect the unit.

All of the Amazon links to the cheapy version show unavailable for me but I did find this version.
There's a $12 coupon that brings it to about $60 -- cheaper than when I bought on Black Friday from Aliexpress.

Well my cheapo £20 CarLinkIt v2 lookalike came and connects fine in my car.

Came with 2020-12-25 on, and updated OTA standard way to latest OTA of 2021-03-06. Only difference I can see is the red connection screen.

So not sure how it’s different and has different interface when going from same server for OTA?
