Woow thanks didnt know about that option, which software do u recommend??
I think there is no one good version for all the cars. I have read in this thread very good things about 2021.08.30, but in my Golf my Carlinkit reboots itself.
Now I’m back to 2021.03.06, which is not perfect (sometimes there are some glitches in the audio) but works overall well.

One thing to consider is that 80MHz 802.11ac may not have much of an impact as there is still the USB2 bottleneck. It may make sense to configure the second antenna to perform spatial diversity (same data over multiple paths for improved reliability) instead of spatial multiplexing (independent streams for improved throughput).

I was under the impression that most clients don't support spatial diversity. Maybe that has changed? I was under the impression that most client devices only support spatial multiplexing; while most CPE/long-distant outdoor PtP backhaul radios support spatial diversity.

Most techniques I have heard (re: Aruba & Cisco) wouldn't apply as much to this type of application for CarPlay. Presuming that the clients only support multiplexing, the only thing I could think if that would improve wireless quality would be to drop the width from 80MHz to 20MHz, and move the channel to 165 since it's one of the least-used channels... Most other tuning techniques are more geared for high-density situations, to remove cross-talk from other client/access-point interference... Obviously won't help much in your car. :)

With latest Carlinkit FW 2021.08.24.1817, something seems to be wrong with the adapter's boot process as sometimes no controls are working, neither touch input nor the steering wheel buttons. Audio is working and the screen is also updating, just no car controls.

Does anybody suffer from the same issue? Head unit is a VW MIB2 with navigation.
I have a Skoda Superb with Amudsen head unit, that's the same internals as VW MIB2, and I have the same problem as you, but if I remember correctly, this happens to me with older firmwares also. It's needed to reboot carlinkit or full reboot head unit. Sometimes it happens every time, sometimes it can work without problems several days.

I just received a Carlinkit direct from their website for my 2018 F150. Initial connection and updating was seemless. At first the audio was very compressed sounding - I found that the WiFi connection on the iPhone was set to "low data" mode by default... Turning that off helped immensely, but the sound is still missing some detail and dynamics of the wired Carplay connection. Overall it's livable, but I wouldn't buy it again knowing what I now know.

Is there any custom firmware that can improve audio quality? I have what I believe is the red UI Carlinkit "3.0".

As far as I know, Low Data Mode in iOS does not affect WiFi performance. Rather it is used to constraint data hungry background tasks (e.g. photo syncing, auto update downloads) when on a paid hotspot that is typically charged per data usage or has a set data cap.

Installed 43.0.10 on my podofo. Did it via SD card as it was not available in OTA page. No aparent issues for now.

One thing to note is that in this version, bluetooth hotspot has the name ConnectBoxBt_Volkswagen, so they might be working on improving on brand compatibility....

Also, OTA page seems to be working again after the update albeit, no option to downgrade from there.

Is there any instructions how to update the podofo unit using SD Card?

I have downloaded the 43.0.10 .zip file firmware do you just extract that to the SD card, insert the SD card and power on the device?

Yes, there is an ISPBOOOT.bin file after you extract the .zip file. You put insert the SD card and power on the device and the green light should blink and start the update process. I tried 2 SD cards 2Gb and 32Gb, only my 2Gb worked so not sure what happened.

The Podofo connects to my Volvo XC90 but it's not stable. I have had connection errors on multiple occasions. I also tried it on my Mercedes A class which it doesn't power on at all. Either way, the Carlinkit V2 is more stable than Podofo.

Thanks

I updated mine all seemed to go smooth… but now it don’t work with my car :(

Have a Ford Focus with sync 3.4 so it’s never been officially supported but 43.0.9 did work, now nothing atall.

Has anyone tried to downgrade these units? Does anyone have the 43.0.9 software handy?

43.0.9 and 43.0.3

Any news?did it work on Mazda?
Updated to 43.0.10 in my Mazda running the latest v.70. Upon reboot Podofo, I saw the CarPlay on my Mazda with podofo for the very first time.
Mazda.1.BT.JPG

Follow the instructions to bring up iPhone Bluetooth scan and found the BT. This was not possible on the firmware 03 through 09 for me.

Tried to connect to the BT, failed on the first attempt but the second time got connected.

Seconds later, my navigation app showed up on the screen

On the road, I intentionally disconnected and reconnected the power to podofo and it reconnected without issue.
The first test went well.

I will see what happens tomorrow morning.

when I tell you I am dongled/fat32/U2w_update'd out of my mind, I'm exhausted. I tried this several months back, emailing with carplay2go has done nothing. they've sent the same directions and these similar firmwares twice now. I got a new car and am revisiting reviving my bricked device. All I get is a solid blue light. . Ive loaded one billion firmwares now, reformatted my usb, checking file extensions, changing file names. nothing. I've tried every different low power, mid power, high power brick I can find with nothing but a solid blue light. I'm NOT spending another $100 on a device I already have, just for the luxury of not plugging in a wire.

But yeah, I'm annoyed.....any ideas?

I dis the update too. Same results. Its a little better, we need more testing.
After 1 week of conections we can say that it works.

Nice to see it working on mazda! 😀

Hope you all get the same excellent experience I'm getting on my VW. In my car it works miles better than Carlinkit, no hickups, no lockups...

It works ok for my Volvo but the audio lag about 2 secs is a little annoying.
Has anyone figured out how to change the audio setting on Podofo?

Still has that connection reboot loop, this morning it did it amd after some tries it connected. Will test more, its still not ideal.
