I drive a 2018 Mercedes CLA 250 and I currently have the 12/24/19 firmware installed. Oddly, I found with my car if I place the car in Reverse and keep it there it connects wirelessly. If the car is in Drive or Park it continually tries connecting and failing. Therefore, for my car I believe it’s a timing issue with the dongle timing out before it’s able to establish a wireless connection. Somehow placing the car in Reverse fixes the timing the issue???? I’ve sent tech support a message with the above info.

Maybe try today’s firmware update?

another new version today, somewhat ambiguous, im almost tempted to never update again....Jeep wrangler uconnect 8.4" working almost near perfect, anyone wanna test this one out?

What dongle do you have? I noticed you bought yours way back in August....is it Carlinkkit? It's def not carplay2air even though i think it was established they are pretty much the same thing.

What car again do you have? Does it not just work at all?

When I try to check for update it says server stopped responding

yup. the 12.30 version did fix the connection issue, in a little while im going to test the "reverse bug" and see if that is fixed

2018 Mercedes CLA 250. Just tried the new firmware and it’s didn’t resolve my issue. I can now confirm wireless connection is successful every time by placing car in Reverse while the car is trying to establish a wireless connection.

Yes I’m they OP, asked originally and no-one bought, someone asked for a “guinea pig” so o obliged! It’s a CarLinkIt dongle yes. I have a Vauxhall with Intellilink system.

It advertised as working with Vauxhall, although seems to advertise with all cars working! But it’s never worked at all, I’ve never once had a connection wirelessly.

Support via WhatsApp just keep saying wait for new software....

I managed to update to the v2 software, got a WiFi once, managed another update and then nothing, doesn’t show on screen, now can’t connect via WiFi, so I’ve no idea how I’m supposed to new firmware when I can’t connect.... I’ve asked this numerous times via WhatsApp as well, with a “we working on it, wait new firmware...” I reply how when can’t connect, rinse, repeat....

@MrMister111 Do you not have access to ANY other car that has CarPlay, at least just to get the firmware updated? Are you in the UK? Roughly where? Someone on here may be able to help

Never tried it on another car tbh, I have had the CarPlay icon flash on my screen, so think the dongle is ok. Brother has a different car with CarPlay so suppose could try your right, just never had chance to.

They did say to wait for new version, as in the new v2 and that would work, unsurprisingly it didn’t, and now just say to wait again.

I just can’t believe that only way to update is via OTA WiFi connection, I think there is a download available, but they just don’t answer any questions.

If I were you, I’d ram it in your brothers car, pair it up, and update the firmware. There have been so many releases recently one is bound to fix your issue

Thanks for mentioning me! trying right now if I can update :) and if it changes things!
I’ve set my wife’s iPhone up with it now and ran some tests. It all seems to work perfect.
the only funny I found is after a phone call, the head unit turns off, but this only happens when using it without the ignition on. With the ignition on it all works great. The real test will be when she uses it tomorrow......as it’s different

It looks like things are working for me also. Will try it some more the comming days but it looks good for me for the things I could test right now.

I’ve just received the Carlinkit from Amazon (bought it from there for easy returns given the issues on this thread).

it’s running 2019.11.11 and to my amazement it appears to work absolutely perfectly. Only tried a few times but it connected flawlessly. I don’t think I’ll tempt fate by updating the firmware which I think needs to be done via USB on such an old firmware.

Only three minuscule issues:
1. The largely useless Peugeot app which connects to the car via Bluetooth doesn’t seem to connect.
2. I get the car alert sound when receiving a text which I don’t get using wired CarPlay.
3. I tried a phone call which worked perfectly but the car’s Bluetooth interface popped up temporarily before the CarPlay phone interface came back.

I’ll try it for a few more days before saying it is definitely perfect but initial signs are very encouraging.

Car is a 2018 Peugeot 3008. Phone is an iPhone 11 running iOS 13.3.1 beta.

I decided to install the latest update. Worked fine on the unit in my Audi RS3 and everything works fine. The other unit, in the Q7 is now not discoverable via bluetooth (and won't connect via CarPlay) and just shows the red light on the unit. Anyone know a fix for that?

Are you using 1 dongle between the 2 cars?

if so, go to the car it works on and push and hold the name of the iPhone on the screen when it tries to connect and choose delete. Seen this before where it doesn’t like being moved across vehicles.

It is two seperate units in two cars. Both worked fine fine prior to the latest update, now one does not. I have tried the problem unit in the other car and it shows the same symptoms: red light, now Bluetooth or any other connectivity.

Not seen that one before.
does it show anything on the car screen when booting up?

I assume you’ve tried forgetting the settings in the iPhone and trying again. Forget Bluetooth, WiFi, CarPlay

No nothing on the car screen at all. I'm wondering if the firmware did not update properly (though it said it did).

The unit also appears to not broadcast any Bluetooth signal at all (tested from multiple phones).

Same here with my 2017 CLA, I realised the same awkward reverse workaround but I couldn’t put up with the abundance of workarounds and lack of proper support. Paid $240AU for a half functioning product. I’ve returned mine today for a full refund through PayPal. For that kind of price it’s not acceptable for the product to be functioning half the time and with workarounds.

Just figured i'd let everyone know, the "reverse" bug appears ot be fixed as well. In my jeep, i really only have two annpycance issues remaining:

1. The phone delay does get slightly annoying if you are on long calls and "interrupt people" like i do lol
2. The instrument cluster on dashboard only shows "Apple CarPLay" and doesn't show the song playing.

No big huge deals, with the convenience now of just getting in the Jeep with the phone in my pocket and going and having carplay has been a dream
