For those who have trouble establishing a connection, I've found -- with 100% certainty in my case -- that my phone has to be unlocked before it will establish a connection. If its locked, it will keep looping "waiting for connection" and "connecting". It then connects after I unlock the phone with Face ID or my PIN. I am on the old 11.11 firmware and the latest iOS.

Is this the case for anyone else?
mine connects fine without having to unlock. Firmware 11.11 + iOS 13.3.

Also just got my Carlinkit today. It’s still on the old 11.11 build. Everything is pretty seamless on my Audi Q5 2019 except for the audio showing “Unknown” on the dash and a small delay when skipping track (strangely album art changes instantly, audio coming in about a sec later). Interested to hear from other Audi MMI users, should I bother upgrading to the new firmware? cc @MrShades @thaben.

@MrShades you had the audio track issue showing “Unknown“ in the VC. Is this fixed?
I use Audi A3 and everything is working fine. Music track name as well. But on my 11 Pro Max music track name will freeze after 1-2 minutes. I tried with iPhone 7 and XS and it doesn’t freeze. So I don’t know what to do ?

On the RS3 there is an option to enable or disable this. I’ve now disabled it as the MMI will think a phone is still connected.
Which phone model are u using ? My music track name freezes after minutes and only found this problem with 11 Pro.

I‘m on iPhone XS. Rather unusual, but have you tried logging out of iTunes/Apple Music and back in again? It may not be related to the dongle at all. I had this issue back when I‘m still on wired carplay.

Is there ANY way to get the dongle back to the settings when it was first opened? I'm having problems with having setup multiple phones - once I did that, I had LOTS of issues.

They have wireless carplay on models with new gen MMI, including Q3, Q8, etc but they're taking their time upgrading the system on their best-selling model such as Q5 and Q7. Sad, really.
well I would consider 2019 pretty new? and those don't have it.. sadly... frustrating

No I have not tried it. Same problem with Spotify and I have tried to reset my phone without backup. Same problem.
I searched on google, and found another problem with wireless CarPlay and only iPhone 11. Maybe there Is an issue.
See here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/250676863?page=1
I hope there is one here with 11 pro who can test it.

Maybe check your settings and see if the "Allow Carplay While Locked" is off.

New update today. Fixed the Siri stuck volume issue ! Finally this thing is getting better and better, at least in the jeeps with uconnect.

Can someone post the equivalent to this on amazon?

I saw that and tried searching it and couldn’t find it. So I was looking for someone to actually provide a link to the equivalent on amazon.

My Jeep still does not even initalize the dongle to the point that I can find the bluetooth device. Very sad. I see the improvements on a friend's car that I use to update (can't update on mine as it does not connect).

All I get is the red light, that vanishes after a while (dongle powers off). Then restarts...

Too bad. No response from "michael"...

Basically there are a few different adapters:

- CarlinKit for Android Headunits (no carplay) to allow WIRED Carplay - this is the cheapest ones
- CarlinKit for Android headunits (no carplay) to allow WIRELESS carplay - this is a bit more expensive
- CarlinKit for wired carplay headunits to allow WIRELSS carplay
- Carplay2Air, that is the SAME as the one above, different vendor

You can buy CarkinKit on Amazon and Ali, and Carplay2air on their website. All will come from China, and Carplay2air offers a 3 day delivery (not counting customs time). As for the price, your mileage may vary.

Mine suddenly connected today. Nothing different, hasn’t updated. And then on the next ride it was back on “Connecting” on frozen screen. Updated and it didn’t help either.

only the models that have the touchscreen system will have wireless CarPlay unfortunately. I think theoretically, 2019 models should work if we could connect to 5ghz WiFi since that’s the bandwidth for wireless CarPlay. Unless, the WiFi in car only supports up to 2.4ghz.

I’ve seen someone used their laptop to connect to the WiFi and see what kind of connection and channel is there, so you can determine if it’s fast or low WiFi.

I have a strong feeling the non-touchscreen system is 2.4Ghz only.

Mine worked again today. I seriously think the problem arises when it’s put reverse before connecting.

Correct. I’ve called this out 100 times. If you put the car in reverse and it calls the backup camera before CarPlay loads it fails and you have to pull the dongle out and put back in. I’ve reported this to them about 500 times since I got the thing in early November.

I am now awaiting delivery of another adapter, which was ordered a month ago, left China a week later, and then disappeared off the radar. Yesterday it resurfaced in Italy! Curiouser and curiouser. I hear that Florence is lovely this time of year. :) Hopefully it will eventually make its way to the US.

Miracles never cease! After a presumed sojourn in sunny Italy, my second adapter suddenly showed up yesterday at my doorstep, three days after having last been reported in Florence. It turns out that I had been tracking the wrong package. The good folks in China (or rather their IT system) had given me an incorrect tracking number in the shipping confirmation E-mail sent me in mid-November. Ah, well, all's well that ends well.

I upgraded the 11.11 dongle via USB, installed it in my second Volvo, downloaded the latest firmware, paired two iPhones to it, and voila, it is functioning perfectly. Nice to be on a winning streak for a change.

Hello Everyone,
Maybe someone can reply - is there a way to disable CarPlay Phone App and use only rest of apps, while keeping standard car Bluetooth phone connection?

I’m using an 11 pro (not max).

other half uses an iPhone 11. Of the off chance she drives the RS3 her’s is working too.

my work phone is an iPhone X. Seems to work fine with this too...

Thank you for the answer. I will try with another 11 Pro.

Well I’ve asked numerous times via WhatsApp for help as it’s not working at all.

They’ve just replied wait for new software, which they’ve said since September, but I’ve asked how as I can’t upgrade anyway as can’t connect whatsoever to the dongle after the initial new firmware install.
