But if you use the carplay2air or similar (carlinkit) the connection is by USB dongle and this one connects by wifi with the phone, so the base connection is USB (this is what told me the provider)

That is correct. A third party dongle is degrading the sound quality one can have if one just stays the course and uses a Lightning cable per the process designed by the car manufacturer.

A lot of you are running around trying to solve a problem and its creating more problems. Stay with wired CarPlay and count your lucky stars you have that option. My BMW's have no wired option and it's awful. Very inconsistent wireless connectivity and functionality.

Why do you keep writing if you don't like wireless CarPlay.

If you have nothing productive to contribute to the Carlinkit Adapter, just ignore this thread.

There are people who do not like CarPlay with cable
And thanks to this adapter you can upgrade an existing system.

He's one of those people that thinks that the more he expresses his views onto people, the more likely that they'll start to agree with him.. unlucky for him, the world, and people, do not work like that.

It's getting rather tiresome seeing his repetitive posts re-stating basically the same old thing over and over like a broken record. Get over it and move on.

Welcome to the thread @CarlinKit (Neo). I'll start: Is there a way to go back to an older software build? I found that the best build for my Audi is the 2019.12.25. Also, there's an issue with song information freezing on the Audi virtual cockpit after 1-2 minutes of use.

Song information also freezes on my 2020 Volvo XC60 after 1-2 minutes of use.

Unfortunately this thing has become practically worthless in my Chevy Traverse over the last few updates. It crashes all of the time now. It seems that updates meant to fix other cars have broken mine. I can’t see how this will ever work properly without manufacturer specific code branches.

@Neo

Welcome to the thread, great to see the manufacturer taking an active interest in the customer base.

For me the unit works really well I would however like to see the button used to answer and end calls on the steering wheel functioning correctly along with the info in the dash. That would be fantastic as it works for the wired carplay experience (see video). My car is a 2020 model Volvo XC60

Oh, the meter information was added in version 2.0,

We added the online upload log function in version 2.0, which is a very effective way to solve the problem. Our website is carlinkit.com

@CarlinKit is the 2018 Honda Accord actually a tested and supported vehicle with this adapter? If it’s marked as supported now, and doesn’t currently work, is that something we can expect a fix for? Or are we better off just returning the adapter?

I see you have info in the dash. In on the latest build but have never seen this. My unit is only a few month old is v2 a firmware build or a newer box?

Version 2020.01.13.2219 finally fixed the control knob on my 2016 Volkswagen Golf 7 Mib 2 :D

@Neo Is the info in the dash the location? If so I do get that. What I am after is the call info in that space on the dash

What exact problem was that? My issue with Golf GTE is that the FF and Rewind controls on steering wheel have side effects like scrolling the map or selecting buttons in the UI. And overall Carplay seems to start in some kind of "control without touch" mode where a button gets a blue highlight

Yes, something like that. In my case the right control knob of the radio only moved the cursor down.

Is yours still failing with the last update? Then repoduce the issue and submit a bugreport from the web interface so they can see the logs and try to fix your problem.

Good to know - I've been cautious with updates hearing about regressions and a few bricked devices but I'll give it a try now

I have an Audi and has trouble with song information freezing the whole time on iPhone 11 Pro Max until yesterday. I tested with other iPhones like 7, Xs and 11 pro. Every phone works fine with no freezing. I was 100% there was an issue with my iPhone. Then yesterday I connected to a new speaker and the it suddenly works. I haven’t done anything different than before, so connected to A new Bluetooth device must be it. I also factory reset my phone with backup and without back up. Nothing helped. So my advice would be try connect to a new Bluetooth speaker.
sorry for my English.

Why do you keep writing if you don't like wireless CarPlay.

Because, like everyone else, I'm trying to be helpful.

I've been to the other side. I've seen what a 100% wireless CarPlay experience is like. It's worse than being wired. Spread the word. Save your fellow posters from frustration. And expense- these third party dongles are expensive, need constant updating, and are missing major features.

Stay wired, my friends.

Instead on complaining here you should go to your car seller and demand that they fix your issues.

You paid a lot of money for your car. You should not be having to subject yourself to that kind of bad experience.

There are many of us that enjoy a nice wireless experience !!with a cheap dongle!! not even from our car makers. Today I did two trips with one stop at a gas station. I did not have to connect/disconnect at all. Carlinkit worked flawlessly using GPS + Podcasts.

Please remember that everyone posting here already has wired carplay and knows how well it behaves. We just prefer the comfort of having the wireless option and this dongle provides it. It sure does have issues but for many of us they have been fixed with constant updates. You don't have to convince us of anything. At any time, we can remove the dongle and just connect the phone to the car :p

… yesterday I connected to a new speaker and the it suddenly works. I haven’t done anything different than before, so connected to A new Bluetooth device must be it.
So just to be clear, you simply pair the iPhone 11 Pro Max to a bluetooth speaker? Did you un-pair and re-pair the iPhone to the CarPlay dongle after this? or did it just fix itself?

The bluetooth is just to tell the iphone what wifi network to use. If you watch it when it connects to the dongle, BT connects and disconnects as wifi connects. So I fail to see how this has anything to do with the music in the dash issue.

I also find it difficult to logically link freezing song info with pairing up a bluetooth speaker but if it fixed @Hendo999's issue (which is identical to mine), then worth trying imho. If it works then the issue is on iOS, not the dongle.

Hi have received carplay2air today, got a 2019 Peugeot 508.

connects to Bluetooth but then gets stuck on connecting...

anyone have this issue?

Is the software version 2019.11.11 displayed in the bottom right corner?
If yes, you should first install the latest version
