Updating today actually did remove the unwanted side effects of steering wheel buttons on my Golf GTE. There's still some weird blue highlighting of buttons going on but it's no longer affected by using FF/Rev

LOL, ok, so now its updated without activation somehow and prompts me this:
what the...

Update: no bueno.
Damn and really it just began to work, then I don’t know how I got it to work. I will recommend you to try another phone similar to your phone so you hopefully will se the other phone working without issues.

How often do you have to “activate” this product?

I have to admit - such a concept (activating a dongle) is immensely unappealing and frankly feels like a really customer hostile decision by the manufacturer here.

These things are not at all inexpensive - what justification is there for needing to “activate” it?

Probably the activation servers are down? I have also tried to add the dongle with 2.0 firmware to my Alfa Romeo Giulia MY19 and got on mobile the message "Product is not activated (20)".
Hope Carlinkit get the situation fixed as soon as possible.

Anytime a product requires activation servers to be used, it tells me STAY AWAY.

I paid $100 for a DVD ripping app many years ago that could rip DVDs that handbrake could not, and the company locked it to one machine at a time and then if you changed computers you could deactivate it on the old one to activate on the new one - they went out of business and the software is still locked to my old G5 iMac (long gone).

My Jawbone Jamboxes (BT Speakers) all had cool features like different voices for the menus, and other stuff, but it's all gone when they took down the servers. We still have 2 big Jambox and 4 mini Jambox in the family, and we can't change the program on them anymore.

Because, like everyone else, I'm trying to be helpful.

I've been to the other side. I've seen what a 100% wireless CarPlay experience is like. It's worse than being wired. Spread the word. Save your fellow posters from frustration. And expense- these third party dongles are expensive, need constant updating, and are missing major features.

Stay wired, my friends.

The problem is your results are likely caused by bmw more so than by wireless CarPlay. Every think bmw is the slacker here and needs to fix the issues and that these dongles probably work better than your cars WiFi CarPlay? Cause that’s sure what it sounds like...

2020.01.16.1737 said fixed additional stuttering and car dashboard info. Can't verify the dash info because my car just displays in there "Apple Carplay" even when wired. It did not break audio in my car but be aware of Hendo999 comment.

Hello from Germany,

one question, is the Carlinkit Adapter the same product like the CPLAY2air adapter? Hard- and software?

Build 2020.01.16.1737 seems to have fixed the freezing audio info for me but yes, audio quality is ruined. Like lots of crackling static noise.

CarPlay2Air are telling me categorically not, but I doubt. My Vauxhall never worked on CarLinkIt, but CarPlay2Air telling me their dongle will.

Here’s some messages I got...

“We have it tested and working with Vauxhall but we not store the videos.

Yes, the latest update we do is through online but CarLinkIt is from a different manufacturer.

Totally understand if you don't want to risk but thanks for your inquiry.”

“Hi, We have tested it to Vauxhall 2016-2019 and although there are some reports for bugs and error, we offer a 15 day return if not satisfied. Every even with the same brand year and model will react different to the adapter”.
