Fake. CarPlay2air does not work. The guy will sell you the product and give you the run around knowing full and well it does not work. Do not buy. I warned you. He will not return your money either. FRAUD

Mine works around 95% only has a shutter sound after around 5 minutes of streaming sound. A quick pause then unpause fixes it for another five minutes. Once this is resolved it will be working 100% for me. 2018 Sierra

Hello,

Does anybody have connection issues? Got mine today but I cant find it in the bluetooth menu? Latest ios software?

I think this is a car-specific issue. I have a Carlinkit (same thing as Carplay2Air), and it is working great in my Hyundai. Might be worth it to buy from Amazon when they have them in stock for Prime shipping, so you don't have to worry about returning it if it doesn't work. That's what I did. Only issue is waiting for it to get back in stock for Prime shipping (it hasn't been available for a week or two now).

What lights are showing when you plug it in? Mine shows as Volvo -2BFF so yours should show as your car name and an extension.

Have you done the software update as listed in the thread?

I am going to respectfully disagree with this. While I think it is model and vehicle brand specific, carplay2air works and works quite well for me in my 2016 Chevy Volt. It even has the unexpected side benefit of sidestepping Chevy's infuriating limitation on list lengths. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and it definitely does live up to its promise in my case.

If I plug it in, i see a blue one flashing and turning off, then a red one disappears and i get the connection screen. But I dont see any bluetooth device on my phone. Its shows of as myopel- xx but I can`t find it, tried multiple iphones.

I have tried to upgrade and downgrade, but stays at red without bluetooth connection.

I know some folks previously posted about orders from Carplay2Air.com being delayed, perhaps due to the coronavirus. I ordered one on Sunday and it shows as being shipped as of yesterday.

So you have done the manual USB upgrade then followed it with the OTA upgrade.

When you did the USB upgrade did you get the red and blue lights together to say it was complete?

Yes, i did a manual update (with red and blue lights), but I cant update to the latest version because i cant connect to the dongle. Always stays at red right and doesnt show any blue. Tried with downgrading and upgrading via manuals, but nothing seems to change everything, maybe the bluetooth sender is broken, I have almost tried everything in this thread, nothing seems to work. It is a great product, but there is to much work to get it working. And after all my work still seems to be broken. I tried my best but it wont work.

Have you tried with other iPhones?

Anyone have an issue where the phone shows it's connected to CarPlay, but the car display just says "Connecting..." or "Connection failed?" It happens probably between a third to half the time for me. Everything works if I unplug and replug the Carlinkit. A little annoying, but I'll be getting the USB on/off switch linked earlier to make this less of a hassle. Other than that, everything works great. I'm updated to the latest firmware, and my car is a 2016 Hyundai Sonata.

Thanks!

Latest software has reduced this significantly for me now.

Anyone get this to work on 2019 F150 with sync 3? I cannot for the life of me figure out how to update this using the usb method... plug in the adapter to a power supply both flash drive and small red light up and nothing else? Formatted to fat 32 before i moved the 1/10/20 image file... thanks in advance.

Please see my previous post about how I did usb update.

Hello everyone, I'm also under the same problem as some of you. So far I think I'm the first one to post for my car model, GMC Terrain Denali 2019.
I received the carplay2air dongle 2 days ago. Initially it didn't seem to work (red light only) until some time later when I deleted the Bluetooth pairings of the car. Then it started to work and it was great. I never tested a voice call but streaming musing worked without any problems. It continued to work that day with a bit of a delay getting started when turning on the car.
The next day it didn't start, meaning that it didn't activate carplay for the longest time. After driving around for some time, it began to work again. Here is where I made the mistake of updating over the air to the version from January 22. Since then I get nothing, just the red light when plugging it back in.
I guess I need to wait until they release a new version with hopefully a fix.

Here is all i get when trying to connect to 2019 F150

Maybe someone else can confirm but it looks like your adapter is on the old (pre 2.0) firmware. Version 2.0 was released in December 2019. Pre-2.0 firmware definitely does not work on Fords. If you look back through the early pages of this thread there's a link to a special firmware version that will upgrade your adapter to the 2.0 level. Then you can flash any of the subsequent firmwares that were released in late December and January. I think someone earlier in the thread with a SYNC3-equipepd F150 said that the December 25th firmware worked best for him.

UNFORTUNATELY though, I'm not sure you will be able to activate your adapter after flashing to the 2.0 version. There are a few of us in this predicament right now. Due to the Corona virus in China, apparently few to none of the Carlinkit people are going to work. Their activation server has been down since late January and last I tried (middle of last week) it's still not working. So my adapter is not activated and thus will not work at all.

I am outside the return window for my Carlinkit--otherwise I would consider returning it. But as it stands now I have no choice but to wait for them to fix their activation server so my Carlinkit adapter can be activated. Once it is, it should work in my Ford. But for now there's nothing I can do.

For you, if you have the option to return for a full refund you may want to consider that. Who knows how long this Corona virus outbreak will last or how much worse it may get.

I think the vast majority of the people posting in this thread are people who upgraded to the 2.0 firmware prior to the server going down in late January *OR* they are very recent purchasers who received adapters already preloaded with version 2.0 firmware (which probably don't require activation).

If anyone has more info about this please post. I've got the 12/25/2019 firmware on my Carlinkit but it just says "Activation Required", and when I join my phone to its WiFi network and go to 192.168.50.2 I just get a login box asking for a user name and password.

Are you leaving the adapter plugged in always before you start the car? If so unplug it, wait for a couple minutes after you have the car running and are not in reverse or otherwise using the cars cameras then plug it in and see if it will connect.

Today I manage to make it work one time but it was like black magic. I resetted the data of the entertainment system, connected the dongle to the iPhone with a cable and eventually I was able to see that it did something. I was able to see the Bluetooth dongle connection and pair it to the phone. I got CarPlay working and disconnected the cable from the phone. I can confirm that it was in the Jan 22 software version. It continued to work but the audio was coming from some FM station. I went to the car GUI and changed the input to usb and went back into CarPlay. It worked with the right audio. But it all fell very shaky since the car GUI didn’t “light up” the CarPlay icon. If you press the icon, it’ll be activate CarPlay. Also, it messed up a bit with the car wireless charging because it will start charging for a second and the stop. This, without the dongle connected, works very well.
After stopping the car and starting it again, it didn’t work. I’m guessing I need to repeat a similar procedure as before.

Update: It spontaneously worked one time without me needing to do anything and as soon as I started the car. Still had the wireless charging issue. That was one time out 5 or 6 that I started the car.

If you could tell me what image file I need to use to get to the newer version I would greatly appreciate it.
