I got mine on Friday, and cannot get it into pairing mode. I tried it in a 2019 Honda Odyssey, and a 2019 Honda Pilot. I upgraded it to the 1/20 firmware, but still no luck. I just get a red light.
I am pretty sure the Pilot, Ridgeline, Odyssey, and Passport all share the same head units.
I will try it tomorrow in 19-20 Accord, Civic, CR-V, and HR-V.

It seems like more people are having problems with Carplay2air. I know Carlinkit is the same device. I wonder are there just as many people who have the same problems as for those who got Carplay2air? I’m ok so far with mine. Knock on the wood.

Did USB update of my Carplay2air to the latest (February 17, 2020) firmware.

Still no luck with 2018 Honda Accord Touring.

I think this is a car-specific issue. I have a Carlinkit (same thing as Carplay2Air), and it is working great in my Hyundai. Might be worth it to buy from Amazon when they have them in stock for Prime shipping, so you don't have to worry about returning it if it doesn't work. That's what I did. Only issue is waiting for it to get back in stock for Prime shipping (it hasn't been available for a week or two now).

I have seen a couple of people mention that the Carlinkit and the Carplay2air are basically the same devices. I researched this because I am interested in the Carlinkit and from what I see it is is only for android head units. You have to run it through an app they have created for the android system. If they do have a version that is for manufacturer stock radios, could you provide the link?

I think carplay2air has two versions one for the manufacturer systems and one for android- I think this could be causing confusion on this thread as some people might be using the android version and others the car manufacturer's version.

One last thing- I placed an order for 2 of this carplay2air and they have yet to be shipped. I ordered them on January 29th and they have assigned a tracking number- but not shipped yet. I contacted them and they gave me the whole coronavirus affecting shipments thing, but I ordered a different product from china at a later date and it has already arrived in the US. They also told me if I have a tracking number it means it shipped, but I know you can create labels without actually shipping the item.

I do not like the fact that they are selling products that are out of stock. In their message, they told me it was out of stock and this was part of the problem too. I think they are taking orders and using that money for manufacturing.

Anyway, I already did a chargeback on my card and got my funds back. I asked them to cancel and I said if they couldn't I would do a chargeback. They said they couldn't cancel...Which is crazy because it has been over two weeks now and it is making zero progress and they really don't even seem to know what is going on with it.

I am interested in this device- but it seems they are having issues with orders right now.

Below is one of the many messages I have received from them on Feb. 5th- 12 days ago. At least I can say they have been answering my emails.

Hy, Jason,

Thank you for your purchase. I assume you have been wondering when the CPLAY2air adapter will reach you and why it has not been shipped out yet? The case is due to the huge demand and influx of the orders, our CPLAY2air adapters were SOLD OUT. The new stock supposed to arrive this Tuesday, but as you may already know, the Coronavirus has paralyzed half of the world freight services and our freight from Hong Kong can't be exported until the 9th of February because of quarantine extension. We will start shipping all orders on the 10th of February. If you already received a tracking number, that means your order was already shipped out. If you have any other questions and concerns, please contact us at info@carplay2air.com. Do not reply to this email, because we will not receive your inquiry.

Thank you very much for your understanding and patience,
Michael

Carlinkit has 3 different versions:
- Wireless Carplay for Factory Units (wireless activator)
- Wireless Carplay for Android Units (wireless dongle)
- Wired Carplay for Android Units (wired dongle)

And Carplay2Air and the Carlinkit "CarPlay Wireless Activator" are the same devices - there are also the same updates for it

FYI,

carlinkit confirms me they plan to support USB-C in the not so far future. They could not tell me when, but it’s already a good news for the 2019/20 car owner having usb-c connectivity (like all Mercedes 2019/2020 MBUX) as Mercedes didn’t provide even if they promise it.

...I've ordered my Carplay2Air on January 30th and got it delivered in the Netherlands on February 5th. I guess I was lucky to receive it despite shipment issues.

Can anyone confirm that the carlinkit supports newer Hyundai models?

Wow- maybe because I ordered 2 of them or maybe the package was lost...who knows. Thanks for letting me know. They didn't seem too concerned about it when I contacted them so it's probably a good thing I did the chargeback. Really wish I had received them though.

That must have been the express delivery. I'd recommend it to anyone. Usually it takes 3-4 days.
No, not at all. Standard delivery. Order confirmation on the 30th, shipment confirmation the 31st, delivery in my mailbox (package fits in a standard dutch door-mailbox) on the 4th.

This actually matches with what's on their website: "Netherlands: 5-7 days" for standard shipping. Still I was pleasantly surprised. :)

They are selling fast... then China shuts down for New Years and it ate into some if their reserve product and then add in the virus that shut down the country and you can easily see why they didn’t have enough manufactured to keep Up with demand over a small period of time.

I’d be taking orders too... it’s a line for when they get the lines going again... makes perfect sense.

Today I manage to make it work one time but it was like black magic. I resetted the data of the entertainment system, connected the dongle to the iPhone with a cable and eventually I was able to see that it did something. I was able to see the Bluetooth dongle connection and pair it to the phone. I got CarPlay working and disconnected the cable from the phone. I can confirm that it was in the Jan 22 software version. It continued to work but the audio was coming from some FM station. I went to the car GUI and changed the input to usb and went back into CarPlay. It worked with the right audio. But it all fell very shaky since the car GUI didn’t “light up” the CarPlay icon. If you press the icon, it’ll be activate CarPlay. Also, it messed up a bit with the car wireless charging because it will start charging for a second and the stop. This, without the dongle connected, works very well.
After stopping the car and starting it again, it didn’t work. I’m guessing I need to repeat a similar procedure as before.

Update: It spontaneously worked one time without me needing to do anything and as soon as I started the car. Still had the wireless charging issue. That was one time out 5 or 6 that I started the car.

Ok one more time... are you waiting till the car radio is up and running after starting the car before plugging in the dongle or are you leaving it plugged in? Try plugging it in after the car is started and radio fully loaded.

Has anyone been able to update to the 2/17/2020 firmware OTA without using a USB stick? I'm curious what the release notes say has been fixed in the update.

At this time, the actual OTA version is 2020.01.22.2233

the 2020.02.17 Version is an unofficial version without a changelog (current status ;) )

So I was able to update to 2-17-20 via usb formatted fat32. No OTA updates worked.

Anyone upgraded Carplay2air to February (February 10th/11th/14th) firmware?

I just did.

So I finally got it to work in the F150. Pretty much I thought it was freezing on the connecting screen but was getting music to play example attached. I was already in the 2.0 software, so i decided to try the IP address that is in the instructions. Once I did that it said an update was available and it updated and started to work. Steering wheel volume and song changes work with no issue. I have attached the screen shots as I went through everything.

So with the update from 2-17-20 the audio still shutters after 5 minutes of streaming. On a 2018 GMC Sierra.
